Tennis 2015

Djokovic destroying Nadal.

To be fair Djokovic hasn't had to do much. Nadal has been his own downfall with a lot of errors.

I think Nadal won't win another tournament unless someone eliminates Djokovic for him from the draw.

First set, I thought Nadal played okay at times, but on the big points Nadal was poor and Djokovic was dominant.

Second set he got destroyed.

Rafa is a shadow of the player that he was. Novak is only a year younger however Rafa seems totally burned. In a 5 set game I could understand the problem with the knees but not in a challenger tournament. He can't even keep his serve with minor players.I think that McEnroe suggested that he could find another coach to try to reinvent himself, like Federer but he refused. He wants to continue with Toni until the end

Physically he seems fine. His confidence is shot. Many shots he was making he's fluffing. He looks nervous on the big points. I think they mentioned at the start of the match how Nadal actually has a better percentage of return games won over this season, on all surfaces.

Like I mentioned problem is he's not doing it when it truly matters and he's got eaten up by some mediocre players on his own serve.

Actually, McEnroe said he needs to get a new uncle. :D

Just having a look at the results from Shanghai and shocked to see Federer lose to Ramos-Vinolas (yeah, who?!). Anyone watch this?

Rafa beats Wawrinka and Raionic with ease. First time I think he's best a top 10 player in over a year. Is he back? I don't know. But there was certainly a bit more about his game in the last two matches than the last 10 months have showed.

Would you bet for Nole to win the masters?,they don't pay a lot (1.44) but I don't see any serious competitor. As @Bojan11 just said Rafa is playing well,I didn't expect him to beat Wawrinka in hard but I still don't trust him.How is Murray doing recently?

Djokovic should win it. He's only lost one match ever in a Chinese event in his career. It will be a brave man to bet against him.

Good to hear Nadal get a solid win. I saw the result earlier and was quite surprised! Was it more Nadal being good or Stan being bad?

Djokovic breaking all sorts of records at the moment. Crazy stats: he has got more titles (28) than losses on hard courts (25) since 2011. 235-25.

Watching Nadal just now against Cillic.

I don't know but there seems to be a bit more to his game now in the last few tournaments. His defensive skills seems to be back.

His forehand seems to have more power. His backhand down the line seems to be working again.

Yeah Nadal has looked okay since the US open. Beaten some decent players. Would still like to see how he does against Murray or Federer though.

Looking good for a Fedal final on Sunday. I'd fancy Nadal to win it based on what I've seen lately, I know he's used to beating Federer but that could still be a huge confidence boost for him going forward.

Really hoping that is the case. Like I said many times this year it has been way too long since they played each other.

I think Nadal has a good chance. But you have to fancy Federer when it comes to a indoor event.

So Fedal will happen! Tomorrow at approx 1:30pm (UK time).

Expect Fed to win but would be a massive confidence boost if Rafa does it.

I think Rafa will win. Federer just wilts when he sees him across the net.

Nadal levels it. Must admit I thought it was just a matter of time before Fed would finish him in straight sets.

This is a nice match. Nadal still isn't himself but he's fighting atleast.

Federer must be deeply frustrated that this match is so close. He's definitely been the better player.

Deserved win in the end for Fed. Certainly many positives to take for Rafa though.

Read a bit about the history of the Nadal-Djokovic rivalry, it's just absolutely amazing what those guys have achieved. It just puts into perspective how 'lucky' Federer has been having been a bit older than those two and cashing in some trophies and No 1 weeks with no 'serious' competition.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Djokovic–Nadal_rivalry The Records section is incredible.

Isner just beat Federer. Let's hope Nadal can go past Anderson.
Only caught it from the 2nd tie break. Anderson will be gutted, he had match point, played it so well but Nadal pulled out a piece of magic and went on to win the tie break.

Strong third set from Nadal. He had a crazy game where he saved 6 break points.

Match against Stan tomorrow.

Or how lucky Nadal and Novak are that they didn't have to deal with Federer at his peak.

He hasn't been lucky at all. Its not as if he could change when he was born.

Nadal dealt perfectly with every version of Roger.

edit. all these guys have been lucky they didn't have to play a peak Marcelo Rios or a peak Agassi or a peak Borg or a peak Vilas, etc etc and vice versa...

Of course Federer could only play against whoever the rival is at that moment but he won the majority of his 11 GS between 04-07 against players who can hardly be considered in the same group as Nadal, Djokovic, and Murray. So yes, in that sense he was lucky to rack up all those numbers before the 'real competition' arrived. Nadal is by far the greater of those two, won all his GS against top ten players and six times against the No1 Federer.

PS. Djokovic won all of his first 10 GS against Federer, Nadal, and Murray (bar one against Tsonga). Now compare this competition in regards to the first 10 GS that Federer won in 04-07, and you're telling me Federer hasn't been lucky?

Yeah the match-up really suits Nadal. There is no way Novak would be as dominant as he has been if he was up against a younger Federer though.

If Federer was the same age as Djokovic surely people think he would win a grand slam. He'd most likely have won two this year.

Djokovic just grinds down Federer. Federer just can't win the long rallies against him and has to keep points short.

Well that's non-sense. Out of the 21 wins Djokovic has over Federer only three of them were five-setters. Four wins were actually in two sets and the vast majority of wins was in three sets. How's Djokovic 'grinding down' Federer?
