Television Taskmaster | Series 18 starts tonight

Does that mean they've managed to film all the tasks then? I was wondering if they'd had time to do that before everything went down.

Will be a bit shit without an audience for the shows. Also I guess they'll need to come up with socially distant final tasks on the stage.
They're usually pretty good with getting the solo tasks done early on then it is the filming in the studio and group stuff which can take a while. I think they might even have done some filming for Series 11 when lockdown started.

Have done some detective work and predicting

Jimmy Carr
Susie Dent
Rosie Jones
Jason Bryne
Stuart laws

If they have Rachel Reilly, anyone from Goggle box or Big Brother or Davina McCall then I'm out and they can rotate in he'll

Yeah I'm with you. Watched a few seasons during lockdown and I love the show but it lives and dies on its contestants, and when it works best its because those contestants are funny people. If they mess with that format they will ruin the show.

Daisy May Cooper, Johnny Vegas, Katherine Parkinson, Mawaan Rizwan and Richard Herring.

I saw the tweet below first and got my hopes up

They're very close with Katherine Parkinson though... now watch Series 11 have Chris O'Dowd.

Ayoade should be saved for when the audience is back in.

Okay line up, can imagine Johnny Vegas having a break down. I never got all the doom and gloom about possible guests after moving to channel 4. Most of the past contestants are their regulars on their panel shows anyway.

Aside from Johnny Vegas I don’t know anyone on there. Are they any good?

Good point.

I know Katherine Parkinson from The IT Crowd but don't know the others. Not really seen her on panel shows either so don't know what she is like.

Herring has been wanting to go on the show for a while so hope he's good.

You don't know Katherine Parkinson from the IT Crowd?

Richard Herring is pretty good. Haven't heard of the other two.
Nope, couldn’t watch past the first episode when I’ve started it years ago.

That's extremely underwhelming a you tuber, johnny Vegas who has one gimmick done to death, the last person you think of taking from the IT crowd and feck knows the other two

Still no Rachel Riley so I'm in

Not exactly a barnstorming line up.

Can see Vegas and his shtick becoming very tedious very fast. Daisy May Cooper - never heard of her but first impressions are that she's a female Johnny Vegas. Then some youtube nobody and a decent comedian who I imagine most won't have heard of. Katherine is tolerable I guess.

Vegas could get overbearing and I really detest any attempt to legitimize a you tuber .

It should be for real comedians or actors whether established or up and coming not some twat making you tube videos

I’m no massive fan of Johnny Vegas but I don’t dislike him either. He’s actually quite intelligent and there is more too him than his “shtick”. Daisy May Cooper is excellent in This Country and she also co-wrote the whole thing. Richard Herring is a pretty safe choice and then the other two I don’t know much about apart from Parkinson’s IT Crowd role.

One of the best parts of this show for me though is seeing the lineup at the start of the season and thinking “who?” and by the end of it really liking that person. So maybe not the best to judge the lineup before you’ve even seen the series.

I thought I read somewhere that it was filmed with an audience but they were in another room to get a laugh track or something?

What is this show?
One of the greatest panel shows in the world. A bunch of comedians doing daft tasks and Greg Davies gives them points.

Maybe very limited audience

Or perhaps that he was audience for 4 episodes mean they acknowledge it and for some episodes there are and some there isn't

Or it's a virtual audience

Guess we'll find out
I think either virtual audience/audience in another room or none at all. I think the studio filming was after lockdown started and studio audiences were banned.

I really hope it works without an audience. It's always been such an integral part of the show, always felt like they were interacting with them and almost joining in.

Excited for this, been watching the older series over the last few months. The Joe Wilkinson hole in 1 bit has to be my favourite thing to have happened on the show.

Looking forward to this. And yes the Joe Wilkinson potato thing is the best of all time.

Easy the best bit and there's no good YouTube clip of it to share with people to show how good a show it is

Love this programme, been waiting excitedly all week.

My favourite ever task is the one where they are in the train yard hiding for Alex.

Really enjoying it so far Daisy is sure to pee herself at some point too

Started very slowly but definitely got going. Daisy looked like she was going to give birth

The egg task was great, thought it was a bit meh apart from that. Can't see it being a classic series though I do like the guy who tried to put helium in the egg, seems a bit more "creative" than the others.

Mawaan? Guy also tried to lift a phone box.

Have to agree with the sentiment about it starting slow, that egg task was very good. Katherine not even being able to find pan.
I thought the vanishing task had decent entries from Mawaan and Katherine and Johnny is still mental.

He had a good start to that task with using the bucket and then it went downhill from there.

No idea how Johnny got so many points on the vanishing task... maybe due to creativity/time spent.

At first I thought the audience was going to be awful with the overdoing it on the laughing in the introduction but after that it calmed down and felt like a usual episode.

Daisy must have peed herself at some point with the amount of laughing she was doing

Probably won't be a classic series but some good moments in that episode during pretty tough tasks.
