Tanguy NDombèlé

Would we be after him now we have Fred? I suppose Mourinho said we need to replace Carrick and Fellaini if he leaves, which is he more like?

I really like him, but I don't think we should have spent so much on Fred if we were thinking about bringing him in. Unless we're planning to play Fred as a #6 (which is possible), it would make more sense for us to be in for someone that can playmake from deep instead.

Pogba, Fred and Ndombele all interchanging positions would be naughty.

There’s also comments from Lyon chairman that he spoke to Jose recently and they had a long discussion? Got to be either Ndombele or Fekir. Hopefully the former.

Isn't Le10 Sport very unreliable?
But it would make sense as there are reports that we are looking for a B2B
But for 44 million pounds, I would love us to try and get Kovacic as he can play as a defensive play making #8 or take the Pogba role and be a bit more attacking

Or no one, first Aulas is a world class bullshitter and football people talk about other things than transfer.

Seems like he fits all the boxes Jose wants in a midfielder, suits the box to box role also.

Hell of a lot cheaper than SMS too!

Yeah I doubt very much that Jose deals with the likes of Aulas and Levy when it comes to transfers.

I love N'dombele as a player but I don't see Jose signing him after buying Fred.

Losing Carrick and Fellaini for two short CM's is not his style IMO.

I can see United being put off by the Milinkovic-Savic price tag. There were also rumors of us considering Pellegrini from Roma but Ndombele seems built for the PL. He's not the tallest but at 5'11, he isn't a pushover either. He's got the skill and guile to skip past his opponent. He looks like Pogba with pace and urgency and probably better decision making as well. The again Ligue 1 is a huge step down from the other leagues. Ndombele has what it takes to be a success in the PL and I believe Chelsea and Spurs and considering him. Chelsea are rumored to be looking for a Kante replacement if Kante leaves for PSG and also Spurs are looking for Dembele replacement. Either way, I think he's one of the few prospects out there who is bang for the buck.

181cm tall, so not a midget like Fred.

We might go for a midfield three of three defensively capable b2b midfielders, varying it with two midfielders + Matic every now and then. Two of the #8's can be instructed to vary if they push forward or hold back, with Pogba having the least defensive responsibility.

Both N'dombele and Fred has played quite a bit as DM. Not a pure shielder like Matic, but Fred started out as a DM, and N'dombele played 10 games as DM last season.

Ndombele isn't exactly short though.

Well Ndombele is 5'11 (cannot be considered short) and Essien is 5'10.

It's not about being tall but bring the intensity in midfield. Fred and Ndombele would bring that to out slow and sluggish midfield.

He looks to be the complete midfielder. Has incredible balance and real energy and skill. Can play DM and CM. Perfect for us because he can rotate with Matic for DM and also bring extra depth and quality for CM. Herrera and Fellaini out with Fred and Ndombele in is a massive upgrade.

Why would it be Herrera out? Did I miss something?

Wasn't he linked with Spurs, maybe this is Lyon trying to bump the price up, would like us to sign him though.

Looks a bit like a technically better Bakayoko from the PSG game. Strong and combative whilst not being an actual defensive midfielder, good dribbling ability and gets up the pitch quickly. Looks a better passer though and let's hope he has more end product!

At £35-40m I think he'd be worth a gamble.

Taking the Kante-type route as well I see. Stepping up to Ligue 1 from Ligue 2 and instantly impressing his debut season.

I stand corrected. On the pitch he looks short to me, its probably a mental thing as his style of play resembles that of a diminutive technical midfielder.

In that case, I'm all in :D

8M and 20% of future transfer fee.

They will undoubtedly take this up, but will be interested to see what Ndombele will do. Obviously not obliged to accept a contract from Lyon if there's concrete interest from one of Europe's elite. Could end up being a steal if it's Amiens you are buying him off.

Much prefer Aouar if we want a midfielder from Lyon. 2 years younger, more combative and can play anywhere in DM, CM, AM and wing positions

Looks great in the video, reminds me a bit of Carrick.

Found this performance video earlier today, seems like an honest and accurate way of seeing what he has in his locker. Love how quick and accurate his forward passes are.

France are literally stacked with young players... I've never seen anything like it. They're set for at least 10 years and who knows who else will come through in that time. Mental.

From the video he reminds me a fair bit of Dembele. If the latter goes abroad, as seems likely, then I'd be happy if Spurs signed Ndombele as his replacement ... in which case he'd doubtless be christened Notdembele.

Yeah definitely see that comparison as well, which is a great sign of his talent.

Thats what hit me immediately too.

Fred started out as an AM at Internacional.
