Tanguy NDombèlé

Like every club on earth, if a player genuinely want out, the club will ask for the maximum price.

Checking their records, they have sold their better players almost every year in the last 10 years at least. For me that's a selling club.

Not really, the players that would fit that description are Benzema, Lloris, Lacazette, Tolisso and Umtiti. IIRC, in that list the only player that they sold because of money was Lloris because around that time they had problems with the DNCG. The other players asked to leave after a substantial time at the club, Lacazette have tried to move for 2 or 3 years. All the other players were sold because they were either not good or not playing at the level of their contracts.

Now I don't want to keep going, so I will make it simple. Lyon don't plan to sell players, depending on circumstances they might sell them but don't think that you just need to come and they will welcome you.

Oh yeah, now I'm with you. Though I guess what luke was asking was Lyon has an option for 8m - could we maybe swoop in and get it done "cheap"? (20m as an example).

Because if OL rate him as highly as those who watch him, on here do, then I'd say OL will sign him and try and fleece any potential suitors - or hold on to him for a couple of years at least and try and sell him for infinitely more in this crazy market. OL aren't easy to deal with, IMO.

Why wouldn‘t Amiens simply ask similar prices if Lyon doesn‘t have an option? Don‘t see why there is a cheap option because of the constellation.

Personally I think he‘s a player Arsenal should try to sign. Certainely don‘t think Mourinho is after him he‘s far from a finished product.

Certainly getting very tired of the same old oh Jose doesn't buy players with potential crap. Lads not much younger than Essien when he joined Chelsea. He bought Salah for Chelsea, Chelsea sold him, even though Jose wanted him to stay. He was far from the finished article.

In that case it's not wrong, in the sense that Ndombélé has far less experience at a high level than Essien. Essien was one of the best young player with Bastia then he moved to a very good Lyon, whi at the time was at the level of a team like Atletico. I guess that Mourinho would like to see more from him but I wouldn't be surprised if he is interested.

So if clubs have agreed an optional fee following a loan period, has a player then already agreed a hypothetical contract? I thought a player only agreed a contract like that if clubs had agreed a mandatory fee following a loan (like Mbappe).

What I'm getting at is can the player not reject a transfer to Lyon in favour of going elsewhere?

Not quite sure what you mean, Javi? If it is what I think you're asking - then yeah, i agree with you. Lyon seems to have an option on him for 8m which is binding (i.e. no one can simply come in with a higher offer Amiens can accept, not least until Lyon refuse to take up their option).

I mean that whatever situation (Lyon have option/don‘t have option) is the reality I don‘t see why he should be transfered for any less than his market value (which is what I thought you were implying in the quoted post). If you‘re saying Amiens is more willing to sell then I agree.

Yeah, I’m leaning towards the second bit - it would be “easier” to deal with Amiens, imo (I say this from a ignorant perspective as I don’t know anything about them as a club) and possibly even a bit cheaper - Aulas is a notoriously tough negotiator - isn’t he?

Who should we take a punt on? This guy or the one at Lazio, Milinkovic?
Milinkovic-Savic would be an expensive one to have a punt on. He'd cost at least a third, possibly half of our summer transfer budget. We would have to be 100% sure before moving on him. NDombele would cost a quarter of Milinkovic-Savic's price.

His name is pretty close to Dembele, and they are usually pretty good, so sign him up!

I have not seen him in real games, but i am not that much impressed at the vidoes posted here. Bit clumsy for a centre midfielder. Once he receives the ball, does not look to pass it with one touch either. And tend to go down rather easily. Would not solve any problem we have in our midfield.

A solid no for me.

A solid no after watching a youtube comp? Perhaps a bit premature?

Are these games different from the ones in the YouTube comps?
I've watched about 5 games of him playing for France U21s, and even though the level might not be the same as Ligue 1 (debatable), he was quite easily the best player for them in each game.

Just give jose whoever he wants. Doesn't make any sense stockpiling talents who would take time to adhere to jose football

For a 21 years old midfielder very impressive, plenty of room to improve and great technique compared to the headless chicken Bakayoko... I think there are plenty of good midfielders out there to replace and upgrade on Carrick and Fellaini: Ndombele, Serri, Neves, Savic... We need someone energetic and mobile so nDombele would be my favourite of all

And you know this just because Jose said so?

Looks like he's going to become a great player. Really could do with a mobile midfielder who is able to carry the ball at pace.
Absolutely this. I can't remember the last time United had quick mobile CM. Definitely what we need as opposed to another slow 6'4" midfielder.

Like the look but don't think he'll be ready for United this summer..
Seen a few games but think a year or two in France will do him some good.. If he was an attacking player I'd say feck, lets have a go but CM he is not ready.

people have this notion that a young player moving to a big club is likely a bad move and that staying or moving to a “mid” type club is always the best course of action for their career, but I think that’s easily contestable, especially if the team they are moving to has clear deficiencies in the positions they operate. I mean, sure, there’s more pressure at big clubs, but I’d hazard a guess that a lot of things conductive of/for development are better at big clubs, and with opportunity combined with the players own talent and application, they’d likely be well served at a big club. Ronaldo came to us early and that turned out pretty alright for him/his career.

Lots of people said that Sane wasn’t ready and needed to stay and develop in BL. Some players might just benefit from the step up, instead of perhaps stagnating at a smaller club.

And you know the opposite based on nothing?

Based on quotes from hazard, salah and even mourinho who said he loaned him out instead of selling him(it was a loan with an option to buy).

You can also draw a convkusion by how much he was valued by the amount of gametime mourinho gave him.

Manchester United are considering making a summer move for Tanguy Ndombele, although Lyon are reluctant to sell the 21-year-old midfielder.

That’s according to French media outlet Le10Sport, translated by the Manchester Evening News. That’s because the Frenchman only signed Ndombele this summer, but they could be tempted into parting with the midfielder if the right offer comes in. Apparently, their asking price is €50m (£44m).

After signing Fred and Diogo Dalot already, Jose Mourinho clearly isn’t planning on hanging around this summer. However, with the World Cup in full flow, it may be tough for the Red Devils to secure any more signings before the tournament is over.

As for Ndombele, he played an impressive 47 games last season, which would have brought vital experience into the young man’s game.

United aren’t the only side interested in signing the midfielder, though, with Manchester City and Juventus both interested; that tells you everything you need to know about Ndombele’s talents.

With Marouane Fellaini yet to commit to a new contract and Michael Carrick retiring, United need two new bodies in that area. Obviously, we’ve already alluded to the Fred signing, but Ndombele would be an astute piece of business as he’d be a long-term project for the self-proclaimed Special One.

He looks like a terrific prospect and has a buy out clause of 50m Euros and would inject much needed pace and quickness in our midfield. What do you all think?
