That was the point of the rule.

@harms point is a valid one though, Mazurka was a better keeper than a fair few of those picked so far and there's no style justification for it.

Disagree. Some of the keepers are not as good as Mazurka in terms of overal level but IMO better in the air and with better distribution.
 
I picked Lloris far too early, but I made a decision based on what I knew of him vs what I don't know about any keeper basically before the middle of the last decade.

DDG was my ideal, would have taken Chilavert if available based on his reputation, and it couldn't be certain other current goalkeepers.

Being able to use the keeper is quite important based on the team I am trying to build, although in a slightly different manner than what would have been done historically. :nervous::wenger:

Basing that on what? Height? He had a great spring on him and used to play basketball as a teenager (something he innovatively put to good use to avoid spills and attackers having a chance with rebounds, if the shot was too strong he would deflect it down and pick it on the way back up). I'd agree he wasn't a ball-playing goalie, but Schmeichel wasn't either. We are getting to the point where ability on the ball is being rated higher than not conceding goals.

Yeah Cesar has good shot stopping, can be sweeper keeper if the need be, and has good distribution skills. Plus his penalty stopping is also very good, had a good command over the box and he was excellent in the air too. So I felt it was a good choice to pick him

Not height per say as he had a great leap I agree, but more of a reach while dealing with crosses and defending deep. The set up we're making with Pnut requires a better distribution from the keeper, so while Mazurka is the better overall keeper than some picked before him I can understand some managers relying on distribution which would suit the style of the defensive unit more.
 
@Moby please add Mazurka to Viper's team (as his 7th pick) - I made a right table but everyone quoted Downcast's

I agree.

You know that some managers ignore the style of play of some famous players, so you can imagine their understanding of the role of a GK.

We picked a Welsh GK because we did want a new face.
 
Throwing in my two cents. I picked my goalkeeper first to make sure I got Giggs from the dip. However I chose Preud'homme because of his attributes; fantastic reflexes, handling and technique. I'm well aware of his flaws but the defence I have in mind will compensate. There are other keepers I could have picked who are arguably better 'overall' but I picked my keeper to compliment the team.

You don't have to be defending the Preud'homme pick mate, he's one of the top goalies in this draft imo.
