T20 World Cup

Would have been an even better bowling unit if Shoaib had been fit. It's a shame that Pakistan are isolated from cricket these days. With the ICL players back and this kind of bowling, it'd have been nice to see India - Pakistan.

we might have won this again if not for the farce that we witnessed because of dhoni.

Where's Mohammed Asif??

I like the look of the young left armer.

And Asif. A bowler who can keep things tight.

wishing pak to win the world cup is beyond my capabilities.

I understand. It's like wishing Scousers win the Champions league.

I am fortunate in that I was born in India, my mothers side are from Pakistan, and I have spent all my adult life in the UK.

I have plenty of options. :D

I wouldn't go that far. We should've really done a lot better, though.

There's another T20 world cup next year. I think they're having it in consecutive years because otherwise it'll clash with the year of the 50 over world cup.

I think in 15-20 years the T20 world cup will have more prominence than the 50-over ones.

that should be an indication where you loyalties lie.

the consolations i have is that we tonked them last time in the final and that pleases me even now!

I'd say within the next decade. 50 overs seems a bit pointless now this has taken off.

I'd love Windies to win tomorrow. No offence to SL supporters.

Cricket needs Pakistan and Windies to do well.

Pakistan's spinners Vs South Africa's spinners. That's where the game was won. How did I overlook the difference in quality.

Yeah. I was thinking the same thing but then India started winning a lot of the 50 overs stuff and I started enjoying it too, heh. I don't want the 50 overs stuff to entirely die off, though. I think T20 gives way too much room for upsets(Holland versus England, for instance).

Hard to call tomorrows game. I guess we're favourites but you never know with the Windies. All it takes is a 6 or 7 overs of Gayle firing and we'd be in trouble. I think we're better when we bat first and then look to restrict the opposition - toss will be important. Our battling is a real cause for concern, especially if the openers don't fire.

Possibly. But Bangladesh beat Aus and Ireland beat Pakistan in the last 50 over WC.

I was born in England yet support Pak.

And you didn't tonk Pak, Misbah nearly won it but he played that mad shot right at the end to try and win it but got caught out.

Regarding tomorrow, head says Sri-Lanka as they are a better side but you never know, WI have the potential to put in a good show. Gayle will be very important because if they can rack up a good score with a wild slog, I don't think Sri-Lanka have it in them to do the same.

obviously your family and culture, background is from pakistan.

in my opinion you should support england as your a citizen of england not pakistan.

I can.

My nationality should be United nations.

unfortunately it doesn't work like that in the real world.

you sound like my father who says he neither sunni nor shia...he's a muslim.

Just woke up from a deep slumber.

Agenda: Thats the second time you have used that word. Never mind. Yes. I do have one. You may not care a feck if your team becomes a laughing stock. But, I care. And who is responsible for that? Some idiots over here, giving inane reasons for the debacle. Two losses do not make them the worst team. You are right. But crappy reasons as to why they lost, makes all of us Indians look stupid.

Losing is not a crime. But giving excuses why we lost is a crime.
It means feck all. People say stupid things all the time in every field of life let alone different sports. Stop following Indian team if you think they are such a big laughing stock.

In theory, probably. In reality, it isn't the case, as you say due to family, roots, and culture. There is more of an attachment to Pak than England when it comes to sport because of it. Maybe in a few generations it will be the norm for lads like me to be supporting England - it certainly isn't right now.

Agree 100%.

I don't mind to see either of them winning it. Two tremondously gifted teams and i hope this could be a real stepping stone for both teams - win or lose.

Good luck to both of them.

Did you see all the Indians born in the UK supporting India?

It takes a few generations. My kids are avid England supporters.

they too should support england rather than India.

there were more Indian supporters in lords than english. i bet that didn't go down quite well and collingwood mentioned that after the game.

Vidared - where do you live?

Just because you were born in a country doesn't mean you should support that specific country does it?

I mean speaking in some other sense, if a dog was born in a stable does it become a horse?

You need to get out of India to rid yourself of the tunnel vision you possess. The Brits, Aussies, Kiwis, Windies, SA, and Sri Lankans will always support their own countries for a few generations.

Don't know about that because I have no idea about being born in another country, but if you're supporting your ancestral land, you shouldn't be booing the country of your birth. The Indians at the India-England match booing England. Pricks, the lot of them. Fairweather fans, so typical of the ones you see here in India.

Talking too much sense man.

It's not too serious. Just typical fans having some fun at a sports venue.

If you support one team why can't you ridicule another? Wouldn't they be worse fans if they supported both teams?

And its only sport, not war.

Do you apply that to all sports?

Imagine how would you feel if there were more opposition fans at OT than United ones for any game! English team getting booed in their home country is a pretty big deal IMO.

Because you were born in that country. Show a bit of respect. It doesn't mean you have to support both the teams, but you certainly don't have to boo the other team.

I'm all for a bit of vitriol directed at the opponents(in fact, I'd hate for sport to be any other way), but when the opponents are the country you've been born and brought up in, that's just not on. Especially seeing as that these are the same people who probably go back and support their local English teams.

They're fairweather fans, like I said. They booed the Indian team after we lost to South Africa. Different venues, I know, but it's probably representative of a majority of the fanbase.

A lot of these fans don't get to see their team all too often over here, hence the amount of tickets bought up by these fans.

I blame England fans for not turning up to support their team. It's hardly the fault of foreign fans they outnumber English fans.

Anyway, typical English cricket fans are well cultured and just clap at good cricket.

In the seventies and Eighties when fans stood, United fans mostly outnumbered and outsung opposition fans in away venues.
