More sideways moving at my end. I suppose it's the same for all, you find a player who would be great... but clashes with a key player. Nedved and RVN seem to jointly rule out most of the great players in the pool that aren't R1-2 picks.

At least I now have full flexibility at the back. Even picked an injured player to mimic Joga's Carvalho injury situation. Not even sure I have possible improvements any more, once he recovers.

That should mean one of Bonucci or Ayala (one of your starting centre-backs) should be injured right? Meaning, you won't be able to pick Thiago without cover for your centre-backs, unless you play Abidal as a centre-back with one of your FBs coming in, which isn't ideal.

TBH, in-game dynamics like that don't quite work as I don't get to submit squad numbers for randomisation, etc.

I guess if Ayala were injured I would have gone for Campbell instead of Thiago. It's not like I will get to the final anyway :p

Definitely but it makes more sense to 'injure' one your first XI if you'd like to mimic the Carvalho injury situation, instead of drafting in an injured player (who had nothing to do with your side or the afflicted injury) with your first team being untouched injury wise.

The thing is, I built a very flexible side bar the RvN/Nedved picks. It doesn't seem to make any difference whatsoever as the greats I could draft in with no clashes are all R1-R2 players. Those which are R3 and on don't improve you all that much so there's no real reward, which is disappointing.

Indeed. The pool post round 2 does suffer a bit of dip and most of em block a fair bit of players too which is a double whammy.

My point is I could pick up about half the R1-2 players with no changes and a few more as double deals (e.g. getting Ronaldo/Bati frees up United...). Other managers probably can't pick half of the greats I can, which goes to show the R1-2 block ran counter to the spirit/challenge of the draft.
