Time for a couple of favourites. First, a defender who I'd place comfortably amongst the top 3-4 La Liga centre-halves in the pool.
And second a keeper who was the dog's bollocks for Boca and Colombia around the turn of the century and might just be the only keeper ever to be completely unbeaten throughout an entire international tournament.

I swear I could have picked your team almost to a man. I remember mulling over Mauro Silva and the odds you would pick him (before Cafu pick of course) and I concluded you would pick Naybet late on instead.
Similar with Cordoba.
Yea it's as much a Gio team as it can be. Perhaps missing a bit of Gamarra.
Mine's the opposite - sort of.
No surprises. It's rare to get a near free run at a group of personal favourites and means I can enjoy making their case or die trying in the match thread(s).

Aye, that's an incredible pick this late on. His brief Barca career killed my chances of getting him. I think Onenil and Gio are my two favourites at this stage.

.Completely and utterly off-topic, but seeing as this has ground to a halt, I'm just after watching a Sky Sports show about the ineligible Les Ferdinand. Such a good centre forward. I wonder how highly he'd be regarded if he'd had more opportunities on the European stage, or if Shearer hadn't been around and he'd got a better run at international level. Good finisher, fantastic header, quick, strong, and good in the build up both in the air and on the deck. He also signed an autograph for me (along with Paul Parker) when I was a kid, which I'm sure he remembers fondly.
That's always an interesting thing to think about. I always found Argentina's behind the scenes drama interesting. Besides the benefit of Redondo being available for <30Cap requirements, its a shame he had so little international games in his era.
Argentina have been blessed with some crap management over the years. From Passarella's haircut shenanigans back then to Diego leaving out Pupi and unpicked fresh after a Champions League win..
Even in 2006 when they were looking like the real deal in the world cup, only for that moron Pekerman to substitute unpicked and Germany scoring minutes later and winning on penalties.

Aye, Argentina's dramas are interesting and infuriating in equal measure. I wonder if they'd have fared better in WC '98 if they'd been able to integrate Redondo into an already strong midfield.
Yeah, it seems like every World Cup they have some drama going on. Always. Its really remarkable they won two World Cups. Although that 86 World Cup in Mexico seemed like one of the most harmonious squads they ever had after Passarella went home. Weird how uptight Passarella seems to have been. At least Socrates got a smile out of him.

As much I hated that Leeds side, Radebe always seemed like one of the more likeable ones. Just a strong, natural defender and leader. Probably could and should have played for someone a bit better, but as fans we'd all love it if our captain turned down the brighter lights to stay with us too.
