Sunday's gossip

Seems short this week.

I thought Hodgson seemed rather 'obsessed' with Rooney himself. He's also said a few things in the last couple of weeks implying the weight of the nations expectations is on his shoulders.

Liverpool will hold contract talks with England winger Raheem Sterling after the World Cup, and the 19-year-old could command a salary worth £100,000 per week. Sunday Mirror

He's been great, but 100k after 1.5 good seasons seems like a lot for a 19 year old.
I'm sure he was offered a new contract last in 12/13?

Same as what is being reported for Shaw.
Both crazy high. Both unfortunately possible.

They have to pay the going rate if they want to keep him. The new TV deal will see rapid increases in wages, I expect we'll see 1m a week before the end of the decade.

Fair point, but this is an internal upgrade, and he wasn't subject to any rumours about leaving and his wages are going to be tripled within a year, seems a bit too rash.

in the PL? You reckon?
Surely there has to be a plateau.

I think 'cuz of the tax laws here 1m a week wouldn't happen, but more complex deals that involve image rights, sponsorship rights etc and has the potential to be paid something like 750k as the maximum are more likely.

Doesn't this photo just sum this scrote up?

Well, probably structured differently, but if Rooney is on around 300k and the likes of Ronaldo are rumoured to be on 0.5m (inc image rights), it's not a big leap to 1m...

Could work out for everyone, although I would rather Kovacic TBH.
