SAF didn't say that either, papers aren't even trying any more.

another teddy situation perhaps with berbatov?

We wanted teddy to stay but only offered a one year extension. Spuds offered him 2 years so he left (and this was after a superb season where he was PFA player of the year).

Perhaps berbs wants a multi-year deal, and we only want to give him one so he's a bit perturbed. Could see an issue arising over this since our normal policy IIRC is to give players above 30 only one year deals.

£8 million for the top scorer in the "best league in the world"? feck off Daily mirror you are utterly clueless.

With one year left of a contract and now in his 30's?

8 - 12 Million is the most we could expect

£8 million for the top scorer in the "best league in the world"? feck off Daily mirror you are utterly clueless.

Typical media bullshit. When we are buying someone it's a huge inflated figure and if we are selling it's some small reduced figure. If it was us buying Berbs now from Spurs over again, being the top scorer in the Premier league et al a figure of £30M would have been mentioned even taking the time left on his contract into consideration.

I hate the press.

What sort of a 'hint' is that?

Saying "We might have an unexpected player back for the game but I wont say who" is a hint. What actually happened wasn't a hint at all. You can't portray Van Persies post as that when he posted a picture of Vermaelen and said quite clearly that he's ready to play.
