I wonder whether Red Bull might be eyeing up a certain club in Manchester…

I just had the same thought reading about this. It seemed very easy to get Ralf and his connections with the RB clubs are pretty extensive....

NY Red Bulls play some really high intensity attacking football. I hope Ragnick gets his man

Looks nothing like Stam. A quick browse and you can either see him like a henchman or..

He was quite good in Fast and Furious ;)

His team is 7th in the table, but noticed they have conceded the least goals. He must be good at setting up a defence.

My brother in law is a Barnsley fan and says he’s nothing special.. kept them up during a relegation battle, but the football was tumescent…make of that what you will ‍

Can't make chicken salad out of chicken shit.

Wow, as a NYRB season ticket holder for 7 years this is certainly a clash of worlds.

RB global certainly think highly of him as NY just paid a big fee to get him Barnsley, but I mean he hasnt really done anything to great since hes been here.

We finished the season about where most predicted and lost in the first round of the playoffs. We were absolutely woeful in front of goal, and out main ST was the worst xg-g with like -7.2 so its not totally his fault we were crap.

He for sure made us a good defensive team but we were pretty crap to watch attacking wise.

Jesse March at RBL has been the only coach id say id be happy with United getting that's been associated with NYRB, but hes not going to leave there to be an assistant with us.

No we dont - like at all.

Our offense is terrible and our play style would be so foreign to United fans they would boo the coaches.

All we do it hit it long or break the lines really quickly if we lose possession no one cares and a turnover in their 3rd is just a chance to press and win the ball up higher up the pitch.

This play style upset our fans I have no idea how United fans would react to kick and rush and chaos ball.

Isn't he managing New York Red Bulls at the moment? Why would he leave the post to become the no 2 for an interim manager?

The chance at being United's number 2 or 3 is bigger than any job in MLS. If he does a good job he might be able to manage a PL side or Bundesliga.

RB global would be the main reason not to take the job, RBL isnt doing great and he would be top of the list to take that over or be an assistant there.

Great, jobs for mates again, last thing we need is Japp Stam back in the coaching staff…

It's not that all of professionals just wait to Man united to call them, people need to work and commit.

Also not a lot of people will come to a 6 months job

No one has mentioned we've been linked to his assistant at Red Bulls as well (reported originally by Mark Gleeson). 44 year old former South African international Bradly Carnell. He played under Ragnick at Stuttgart and was apparently one of Ragnick's most trusted players. He was a mainstay when Stuttgart under Ragnick finished second in Bundesliga behind Bayern in 02/03

Looks like Ralph is looking to make friends as well now, no more jobs for the manager's mates just hire the best coach available. Preferably someone who doesn't speak English or German so he and Ralph aren't wasting time getting friendly with mindless chit chat in between games/training.

The more coaches we have who's names sound like Die Hard villains the better.

Its happening! We are getting a real life Ted Lasso!!!! All be it one that looks like hed kill you for looking at him funny rather than bring you biscuits in the morning.

I can imagine the pitch to convince him to come down in my head...and it goes something like:

Come out to the coast, we'll get together, have a few laughs...

Doesn't sound good. However being an assistant manager under somebody who has a proper plan and knows how to implement it is completely different than being the manager yourself. Carlos Queiroz never had much success as a manager but most would agree he was the best assistant that Fergie ever had and played a big role in our success in the mid-to-late 00's.

Hopefully this would be a similar situation to that.
