Summer Transfer Window

Van De Beek to Sociedad looks a done deal then. Probably a good move for everyone.

I'd imagine that any more midfield outgoings will depend on who we think we can bring in.

Next priority for me should be moving Maguire on without a long saga then bringing in extra defensive cover (in addition to Evans.)

I think at absolute most we will get

Amrabat
Todibo IF we can sell Maguire

Would like to have seen a cheap experienced goalscorer too, maybe we will try for Toney in January and see Mason returning.

he needs to go....there is no chance he will make the grade at United. FFS he was shit against Bilbao so if we can move him along and get some sort of money for him, all the better.

English clubs could never do this loan and then the obligation to buy imo - nobody would accept that from English clubs. PSG or Italian clubs get away with it all the time.

30m for Maguire seems to be a done deal....good proper business done by Murtaugh. Bailly looks to be leaving on a free to Besiktas.

Still 4 senior players that no decision has been finalized for the summer...Scott, Fred, Dean, Donny

Amrabat, Pavard, and an out of the blue statement signing, a Neymar loan deal, that would be a 10/10 transfer window!

I'm sure I'm not alone here in having no interest in Neymar at this point. He's too injury-prone, and used to playing in a retirement league.

The one and only Statement Signing on the table is Kane.

Been a very sensible window so far which is a nice turn. Still think there could be a surprise towards the end, even after another defender and midfielder.

All very sensible.

Still time to do something daft like sign Neymar for 100 million and unsettle everything again.

How is our FFP budget looking if we sell McT, VDB, and Maguire for, say, 75 mil and bring in amrabat and Pavard for a similar amount. Do we have any chance of buying a statement signing striker?

I'll say I'm pleasantly surprised with how the selling business is trending. Overall think United may have been more right than I was on the valuation of the outgoing players. 30 for Maguire (even if there's kickback costs involved), 35-40 for McTominay being a real possibility (though uncertain West Ham is coming back), Fred shaping up at approx 10-12.

McT is not gone as a matter of certainty but while not the most adequate will certainly be serviceable. Wouldn't mind a midfield signature still.

Very giddy at the talk of Pavard being interested. I think that addition to the squad would make the team considerably improved this summer. Other names mentioned not as exciting but interesting nonetheless.

That leaves Henderson and DVDB on the block. Danny hopefully gets a loan, that's probably the best one could hope. As the Courtois injury shows, maybe there will be a late taker for Henderson.

Surplus trimmed, decent business out (especially for United) and I'd say fairly sensible and spread spending -at least by the unsound context of a top club in modern football-.

If we manage to sign both Amrabat and Pavard til the end of the window, it will give ETH so much tactical flexibility that I would rate this window almost a 9/10.

If this summers transfer window was a person, it would be Harry Redknapp. Wheeler dealer

Bloody entertaining stuff.

Surely another 2 in with the sales that are looking very likely.

Also what is up with the Greenwood decision? Whatever the decision, it's madness the season starts tomorrow night and no sign of an announcement

Looks like Fred is off to Fenerbache for €18 and the real surprise was Kovar being sold to Bayer for £8m

This is a very interesting week.

Adding Gore and Forson, we have right now about 38 players. By end of the week we could sell/loan or get knowledge on the future of Kovar, Bailly, Mengi, Maguire, Fred, VdB and Greenwood.

Did I miss something? What happened to Henderson heading to Forrest? Just realized today he's still with us

We don't know. They bought Matt Turner but Forest fans say they want two GKs. Henderson is injured right now I think ? The fitness issue looms large, seems more complicated than thought previously and Forest would know best given he was over there last season. They apparently suggested another loan.

I'd say slash the price to get it over the line (Forest may have liquidity issues, shocker) but I'm not sure the money is the real hangup.

Ah feck I forgot about his injury. Yeah that makes sense then

Getting both of those certainly makes it a 9/10 for me. Would have been a 10/10 if we had gotten Kim but given the budgetary restrictions/FFP restrictions/ what we needed I think we did about as good as we could have and our squad will be fully refreshed with quality depth all over.

I’m not sure why there is so much excitement for Amrabat. He seems like better cover stylistically but I’m not convinced he’ll move the needle much for us.

Closer to the Malacia signing in terms of adding a trusted squad player whose younger than the guy he’d be replacing (Fred).

Honestly if Henderson is the only one left at Carrington of all the ones that needed off (I don't count McT as such) that's a very successful clear out.

Signings look good (before kicking a real ball at least) and every one we're linked to for possible additional reinforcements at least are interesting.

Also what is up with the Greenwood decision? Whatever the decision, it's madness the season starts tomorrow night and no sign of an announcement

Either they're working behind the scenes to ship him off the back door... Or just waiting to put everyone before a fait accompli.
Without discussing the substance of the MG problem, I think people overestimate the difficulty of him being reintegrated by the club. A good sustained PR campaign (cynical way to label it but truthful) would probably mollify opinions just enough.
I think he stays, maybe trains with the first team, his fitness built up back and a decision pushed back to January after probing public opinion. If it comes to sending him away, he has more value being football ready.

What a great window. Getting rid of most of the deadwood and buying most players before the start of PL that were needed. With the addition of Pavard and Amrabat this is a 9/10 window.

Below is a list of players rumored to leave the club or players the club is yet to announce the future of:
  1. Henderson (26)
  2. Kovar (23)
  3. Maguire (30)
  4. Bailly (29)
  5. Evans (35)
  6. Mengi (21)
  7. Williams (22)
  8. Fernandez (20)
  9. McTominay (26)
  10. Fred (30)
  11. VdB (26)
  12. Pellistri (21)
  13. Greenwood (21)

Pellestri may go on loan but he's not getting sold that's for sure....i think EtH likes him as a player

Seems like a really good window for us in terms of both buying and selling. Hopefully McTominay and Henderson will be sold as well. Williams and van de Beek, too.

Yeah, on the slightly limited funds available and with finally seeing some deadwood leaving it is definitely encouraging window.

I think by just making sure that we won't suffer much of a drop off in midfield when we lose Casemiro for a game or two he would have moved the needle enough for us. However I prefer a project signing to a journeyman DM, having sorted most of our needs I'd have expected the club to sign a young DM with a huge upside for Casemiro's understudy.

Given how well the sales have gone a veteran forward to help out Hoijlund would be a perfect conclusion to our window. Huge doubt on Mount aside, I am very happy with what we have done this window and if things work out this will be the window where we can point back as the watershed where we finally got our act together.

I’d probably wait till some football was played before declaring it a 10/10 window. How do we know mount, onana and hoijlund will be a guaranteed success? And any further signings for that matter ..
