Teams are safe if Arsenal are after their players. They neither have the pull or the money to attract the top players.

The thing is, they probably could attract top players if they weren't so tight.

They looked like they were going to change the way they do things when they signed Ozil and Sanchez, but it turns out that Wenger is just the same old tight cnut he has always been.

Benfica are of course a very good club but i'm shocked no better club has bought him.

Rafa Silva to Benfica is interesting. I think he could become a top player so will be interesting to see how here gets on.

 13m is the record transfer, for the amount of money they sell for I thought it would be a fair bit higher then that

Not yet confirmed, but personally a waste of money. Has talent but he simply don't need him. Hopefully he becames a beast for us like Simão was. Also, our transfer record is 21.8M€ for Raul Jimenez from Atletico. Then Imbula for 20 and Hulk at 19. Between Portuguese clubs Rafa is now the highest, the second was Moutinho to Porto for 10M.

Why would Everton have suddenly deleted their tweets saying "Koeman confirms Lukaku has decided to stay" between 5.15pm ish, and now?

Wont be a club policy thing because why would you not want that being tweeted to your millions of fans.... so has Lukaku or his reps been on phone and said delete it, something may still happen between now and deadline?

Mourinho is determined to get mlve outof players that have no future at the club...i think Young might ne next to go.

Expecting a fair amount of movement out of the younger players in the next 10 days. I read the other day that the 'emergency' loan window for Championship clubs has been scrapped, so they can no longer sign any players at all outside of the window, unlike in previous seasons.

Wilson, Borthwick-Jackson and Blackett all seem to now have moves lined up. The likes of Will Keane, Johnstone, Pereira might not be far behind. Maybe one or two more.

I did think Young might go but his appearance on the bench last night has made me think he might stay around and then review in January.

I expect at least one senior defender to go, from Rojo, Darmian or Jones.

Id rather have van Dijk than Fonte.
As would I, but since the accusation was that we were being linked with Fonte to unsettle him before playing them, then we need to move on to talking about transfer targets currently at Hull :p

We have no use for Young, and he isn't good enough. For he size of squad the manager likes, Martial and Memphis are the two options for they left, then there is Lingard and Mkhi, plus Rooney who can always be moved there if we need to bully a lower profile player once he's been bettered in his preferred role.

It's a shame Hart isn't keen on going abroad for a loan or something. Given the situation, it would be immensely refreshing to see an England international keeper rock up at Sevillia, Dortmund or someone like that.

True, I don't think we'd stand in his way if he wanted to go and a club came in for him. I just don't think we'll be actively looking to sell him at this stage either, unlike one or two others.

Hart would be insane not to move to Dortmund. He is clearly a buffoon if he prefers Everton to playing for a side in the CL and who could challenge for the German league.

This insular attitude is the reason why top class English managers and players are a dying breed, they would rather stay in England than expose themselves to different football cultures. And Hart wouldn't suffer financially because you'd expect City to have no problems paying him off the wage differential, just a perfect opportunity being spurned.

Just think he's missed the boat now to be a united player which is a shame.

Why ? he is 20 years old - where was Lingard when he was 20 - where was Harry Kane ? He needs to do well at Derby yes - but if he stays injury-free and shows the right attiture -he will do well at Derby

Stoke can afford £12-15m for him. We shouldn't loan him since he most likely will be injured for half the season, stopping Stoke from buying him after the loan.

Hmm never know. Evans was more injured and more shite when playing for us and now is apparently being eyed by arsenal after being west broms one of the best players. Smalling was fairly injured regularly too before his breakthrough 2nd half of last to last season.

Why would they buy a player who's been injured for half his career? They loan him, he gets fit and performs they might buy him. If not, they send him back. Makes more sense than buying him.

For the discount perhaps? I reckon we would flog him for £8m or something. A Jones that is fit and performs for a season will go for £15m due to his age and Ingurlishness. We sold Mcnair with one year left for 5 rising to 7, and Pool sold Ibe for £15m. Jones has proven more than both in his limited time off the physio table.

Stoke must suspect Jones legs are shot if they only want a loan move, he's starting to remind me of Jonathan woodgate.

Paying more than 5 million for Jones would be a huge risk, considering the season he had last year. I think a season-long loan with an option to buy is the best we could hope for.

I'm sure Barcelona would have liked to sell Vermaelen as well, but his move to Roma was also a loan with an option to buy and it's perfectly understandable.

It's not just the fee - he'd be worth at least £60k a week and suspect he's on at least that at United. That's £3 million a year. So on a 4 year contract that's a £20 million investment in a player who's hardly played the last year.

A bit OTT, isn't it? Vemaelen is reaching 30 and his injury record would suggest that his career is totally shot. Jones is not over mid 20 meaning that he may still be able pull off couple good years aka Wes Brown if his injury is being well managed. Seeing how Evans turned out last year for West Brom (similar with injury and terrible performance in his last year with us), there is still hope for Jones. Would be silly to get price bullied.

Should just give Jones away if no one wants to pay for him. At the moment he's a drain on our finances and he takes up a place in the squad that someone else could have. He's a waste of space.
