United are paying 100m and around 300k a week for Pogba.
If the roles were reversed he would be claiming Pogba used United to drive up the price since that's exactly what happened here.
The more I read the more I think Madrid were played here.

It would be odd if he didn't prefer to play for Real Madrid. They're a bigger club, a much better side, playing in the Champions League and managed by a French legend, as well not being the club he left in controversial circumstances. I get being excited about him coming here, I still suspect it won't happen but he'd be a fantastic signing for us and huge upgrade on our current options because of what an outstanding player he is but I think it's a bit of a stretch to suggest Real Madrid have been played because they won't pay such exorbitant amounts given their financial situation and the fact that they already have 2 better central midfielders.

If Pogba wants Madrid he would push for Madrid imo. According to reports he is going back to Italy to tell them he wants to move to United. It's the only way Juve will accept the bid.
Why not mention Madrid? There's a difference between having a preference and activley wanting to move to Madrid.
Not to the extent Balague is making it out to be imo.
I have never heard about Madrid refusing a record fee for a galatico who wants to join because the fee was a bit higher than their opening offer. I honestly cannot think of one.

What? That was wishful thinking from a poster on the cafe. Who supposedly reported this?
Can't remember but sure it was posted in this thread.

From Oct 01 2014 to Sep 30 2015 we paid £13.88M in agent fees (second highest in league for that period). We're not going to suddenly pay out over that much for just one transfer.

I am curious about this 'United will pay more' thing.
Don't they always bang on about making the most money. why can we afford him, but they can't?
They have a bigger wage bill due to having more world class players on mega contracts. They surely still could pay as much but probably don't want to considering they're not sure he would improve their first 11 and he is not that popular among their fan base.

We've never paid out a world record fee ever before either, if Madrid are being put off by it then I'm sure the agent fee is likely to be in that region.

I doubt we will be paying Raiola almost 17% as much as of the rumoured fee itself. World record or not, I'm sure we wouldn't have paid him almost 4.5m pounds just to get Mhkitaryan. I'm sure we chucked him a couple of million for Zlatan though but I dont think we'll be paying him close to 25m pound in total for all three signings if we do get Pogba. That is as much as his recorded net wealth I think.

Ah well maybe we are, the rich little fat bastard.

Because only a lunatic would spend £120m on a player to come into a champions league winning midfield to rotate with Kroos/Modric

I honestly thought Arsenal were going to have a brilliant transfer window. I thought this would be Wenger's last big push for a league title before retirement and they'd go all out on the best players available. But so far it's been very underwhelming for them.

And this season it will ever so hard to get into the top 4 with so many teams strengthening.

Monaco confirms 5 year deal with Sidibé.

. Bayern esque like the Renato. Thought it would take awhile with Arsenal was leading the race by some clueless English tabloids just couple hours ago.

Think it would be a bad move for the club and him going to Madrid tbh. I think he is a better player than either Kroos or Modric, potentially. He is a better player already than both were at the same age, and he has more to his game all round than either. Both are great players but in the next two years I think Pogba will be better I think if managed the right way in the right team, which I think we can give him.

Real Madrid are much more about instant success and the fans are very inpatient. I think Pogba going there upsets an already great midfield and I dont think the fans or the club would have the patience to develop him, especially ahead of the other options. The only player I see who has been allowed to develop and made his way in to the side recently is Casemeiro, usually the players are just benched and replaced by the next shiny toy.

madrid may be perfect for him in two or three years but currently it would just stunt a great player, look at Isco, Jese, Rodriguez and Varane as recent examples.

It's seriously bad when a club gets snubbed for Leicester and Monaco. I thought Wenger was this French gem finder and that kids were dying to play for him?

That's gotta sting for Wenger, but more interestingly does this mean Fabinho could be available? @bucky
Highly possible as I heard Sidibé wanted to be back to a RB position but he could also directly replace Coentrão as @Damien says.

edit: and Monaco already recruited Benjamin Mendy from Marseille at LB.

Interesting, I know Fabinho can play DM as well but I wonder if there could be any truth in us buying him as he's a Mendes guy.
