Personally, I'd have gone if I were Vardy.

I personally wouldn't. Leicester will be able to give a decent wage, and he can remain there and be a legend.

Also they will build the team around him, rather than at Arsenal where he will be just another player.

Absolutely guaranteed that neither Zlatan nor Micky Targaryan would even have considered us if we had that plank LvG in charge still. So the choice to go with Mourinho has already paid off.

You don't get trophies for signing players so let's save the plaudits on Mourinho until we see what he actually does.

Nah people still sign for Wenger though.

Would love us to sign him just so our fans can chant that Micky Targaryan in the style of the Jose Mourinho song.

Oh that, i thought you were talking about us buying him, we bought him for 7 million aswell, and we have always been poor sellers, we let Ruud go for 10 million to madrid for ffs.

It's hard to get a good price for someone when he has clearly been deemed surplus to requirements, and had come off a couple of poor seasons.

As for RVN, he left for 10M as a 30 year old, in 2006. That's about 12M in todays money, and transfer fees have exploded since then. So not a bad deal at all. He was also surplus to requirements at that time.

Still he was our top scorer and still had 3 years atleast left in him. We have the tendency to sell poorly, its only Ronaldo we have sold for a good amount.

Giovanni Lo Celso arrived today to sign for PSG and have his medical.

exclusive interview:
-"How does it feel to be in France?" asked Le Parisien
-"Good, thanks." answered Giovanni
He is expected to return for a few months in Rosario and start playing for Les Parisiens in january 2017.

I'm not sure if it's worth speculating over what Raiola says, he really talks a lot of shite.

for example a little while ago: 'I don't know if he can finish his career at PSG. He worked for himself for 15 years, now he will work for me for the next eight years. I think he can play until he is 42 or 43 but I don't know if he will play another eight years at PSG.'

I'm pretty sure the old man Zlatan will choose his next destination, not Raiola.

I read some article (Not sure how old or accurate) where Ancelotti spoke very highly of Zlatan. The meltdown here would be interesting if that were to happen ;)

I'd honestly get over it pretty quickly, I'd trust Jose to move on to another target of equal quality.

It's not going to happen though as Ibra is a done dealio.

I've seen so many posters make similar comments, that they trust Mourinho to make only quality signings. But does that trust stand up to historical scrutiny? I expect Mourinho to be a better manager than LVG and I really hope that he takes us back to our formerly glory, but this confidence that every Mourinho transfer move must be top notch doesn't hold up. This is the same Mourinho who got rid of players like Lukaku, Schuurle, Matic, De Bruyner, ... without giving them much of a chance to play. And this is the same Mourinho who bought Schuurle, Mohammed Salah, Ivan Cuadrado, Falcao, etc., and almost immediately after, shipped them out, in some cases barely playing them! My point is, every transfer has a large degree of risk, but there seems to be an assumption among many posters here on CAF that any player Mourinho wants must necessarily be a quality signing, and every player Mourinho doesn't want is, by definition, not good enough for us. Both assumptions have proven false in the past.

Still if you evaluate his overall record in terms of winning leagues and CLs, he has been proven correct, irrespective of individual cases where certain players have not worked out.

That's how we roll here, Bro. We are in the initial euphoria phase currently, just like we were in the early LVG days. Scout knows bests, Mourinho knows best, Woodie knows best, every 50m unknown player is cheap because that's how the market is these days, yada, yada, yada.. You have to sift through and ignore a whole lot of nonsense to keep your sanity.

How much of that is down to Emenalo and Chelsea's manipulation of FFP though?

You realize Troy fecking Deeney was just denied in a 25M pound bid right? 50m euros is literally a raindrop in this market.

I think the reason people believe this and, I am in this category, is that he is usually sharp and efficient with his transfers. I believe at Chelsea, some transfers may have been made by the board/Roman and Jose was forced to integrate such players. However I still believe that he quickly identifies weaknesses and targets players he knows will suit his style. The use of purchasing young players to eventually sell for a profit is common practice and something he is likely comfortable with doing as it create funds to bring in other targets. No doubt he would have liked KDB back at Chelsea last year as we would like Pogba.

We cannot continue to harp on the fact that he sold Lukaku and KDB too early, he was winning or challenging for championships at the time and they were not able to displace the players in their positions. These players were entitled to ask for more time at another club and got their wish and Chelsea made a tidy profit. Just part of the football business, for every Lukaku and KDB there is a Zouma and Courtois. The thing I like about Jose the most, in regards to transfers, is his willingness to pull the trigger on players that need to be signed, ala when Hazard or Fabregas was available, he doesn't seem to worry about "value" in the transfer market or wait for bargains, he buys the players that need to be brought in when they become available.

I hope that possible United bring in a big name player to really set us on our way this year. I still feel that our squad lacks a player that other teams genuinely fear, ala Bale/Pogba/Greizemann or a player of that ilk. I hope that Jose is able to bring in a big fish to set him on this way this year.

I remember when people wanted us to sign Ron Vlaar and Nigel De Jong because they knew Van Gaal's "system"

Are you kidding? Feckin Ron Aitkinson would have been better than Rojo

Ron vlaar could barely keep up the pace at Aston villa. At United, he would have been worse than Blackett and Evans were for us last year. Rojo was decent at CB unlike at LB anyway.

I bet you said the same thing two years aho about moyes when Falcao and Di Maria signed.
