Article says

Breel Embolo like many in Europe : the 1997 Basel striker class has bewitched everywhere, especially in the Premier League , where he returned to coach Jose Mourinho . At Manchester United , and one of the names made by the Portuguese to the Red Devils is just to Clot . Whose agent , Erdin Shaqiri , brother of former Inter Xherdan was just contacted by Mourinho , and now the operation is in the hands of the prosecutor of the Portuguese Jorge Mendes . To give the first jewel of the Special One , Breel Embolo .

Embolo doesnt get me excited, i dont see anything in Embolo that I see in Rashford. Anyway hes a striker that can play on the wing but i thought we were only getting one striker because of Ibra...

If he's instead of Ibra ill be so mad.

I have only ever seen him in the euros. He hasnt looked any worse than zlatan.

Hard to judge based on these tournaments

If we get him, surely we'd be loaning him out. I can't see him getting much game time. Especially considering we've got Rashford who's younger and has impressed much more lately.

Not sure he would be competing with Rashford since he mainly plays on the right.

Breel-Donald Embolo has made a name for himself at Basel and has now attracted the interest of many clubs in Europe. The striker born in 1997 could head to England after Mourinho listed him as one of the players to reinforce Manchester United's squad. The former Chelsea manager also contacted Embolo's agent, Erdin Shaqiri and now the negotiation is being handled by Mourinho's agent Jorge Mendes. Embolo could be a reinforcement to the Special One's attack at Manchester United.

I hope so but i dont like the Chelsea idea of buying talent then loaning to other teams but dont go on to do anything.

Loaning him out? There are enough games next season. He will get game time. He's young and raw, but I would trust him in the first team. Not as a full time starter though unless he really excels.

It's not that we have a pacey and strong RW who can beat his man. Correct me if I'm wrong.

It looks like we're signing Ounas though. If we also sign Embolo we have - Embolo, Rashford, Januzaj, Ibrahimovic, Mkhitaryan, Ounas, Martial, Depay all competing in attack which is overkill.

Not really. 4 positions, each with a starter each with a back up?

Hmm well it looks like we're going to buy a player like Mkhitariyan who'll be first choice on the RW. And then I'd say Lingard and Rashford would be better options than Embolo there. So I just don't see it personally. Ofc I've not seen Embolo, bar some champions league games last season, youtube videos and his cameos in the Euros games so far, to judge accurately.

Haven't been impressed with Embolo at the Euros, but then again, you can't really make assumptions based on a couple of cameos.

Don't think we need him for the striker's position, but if he can play on the right as some guys are saying, then I'm all for it.

I really like the team we seem to be building with exciting young players and I also like the fact Mourinho is obviously addressing the "physicality" issue in our squad by signing Bailly and now probably Ibra and Embolo as well.

Admire how clubs like Barca make an offer and then swiftly close the deal, in our case we make a bid it gets rejected and then we try again and then another club swoops in and buys the player.

Like what we did with Bailey you mean?

It helps when you're willing to commit fraud to make sure you can sign players (that and taking blood money from Qatar)

French (Guinean). His cousin has his own business here and built a life here so has never left.
Wow, I didn't know that. So his ties to the club/area are more deep-seated than the usual.

Thanks for that info, certain things make more sense now.

He's my favourite defender. Won't happen though. On the subject of Juventus though, they are demanding Madrid pay 160m Euros? What is wrong with Madrid? They already have probably the best midfield anywhere in Kroos, Modric, Isco (not to mention Kovacic) and they are pursuing a £100m+ midfielder who might end up on the bench?...

What do you expect when the top clubs in Spain are financially supported by their government.

That's not officiall though. If we use that criteria then United have made 100 bids for players this summer according to the press.
