AS: Azpilicueta could go for €15m. Athletic, PSG and MU interested.

Neymar doesn't need leverage for a new contract. The story goes that a new contract has been agreed since January.

He is worth a lot, but not that much.

How much is someone like him actually worth though? Considering marketing and the whole package? A solid £100-120m?

Could be bullshit to get a bigger contract. There is no way anyone is paying that much.
You really believe that?

Neymar is the hottest property in the sport (Messi is old by comparison, and not going anywhere). Is a marketing industry by himself and, most importantly, is incredibly young, with both resale value and potential on his side.

At any other club in the world, he'd be the face of them. He'll easily break the world record if he goes and at least three clubs in the world would gladly pay his release, imo.

Neymar won't leave Barcelona until he's much older and in decline. They'll hand him a massive contract and he'll live happily ever after playing for the best team in the world.

Could be true, if Conte plans to use his 3-5-2 formation.
I don't know, he must be Chelsea's best option for right wing back at the moment? And surely they would ask more than €15m.

For Neymar I reckon it's Paris, United and Real. City will have to spread their transfer kitty over too many positions to be able to afford Neymar. And he's well for the €200m.

I think United would be in for Neymar for that price, they could do wonders with the marketing. And it would make a huge statement

If he's willing to move, we should be in for for him.

FFP doesn't even exist for all intents and purposes. Doubt the financial implication of uber-spend in a single summer would bother City.

The price sounds low yes.

I think Conte would love to play Cuadrado as the RWB or maybe even Willian.

Maybe Azpilicueta is more a defensive fullback, so maybe there is some truth in it.

Wasn't the actual price for Neymar £110m when the dodgy dealings to his father/family are factored in?

He's already the most expensive player in the world by some distance and he's better now than he was then.

That figure includes his wages because Barcelona wanted to avoid paying a high gross wage and wasting money on taxes so they did donations that were another way of paying large parts of his wages.

I think I agree. Logically he's only going to get better and better, when you consider he's already at an insanely high level then you're potentially signing the next mass Ballon D'or winner. Throw in the fact he's incredibly marketable and that price isn't too extreme to be honest.

So how much did they 'actually' pay for him? The declared amount?

I've heard it disputed since he got there, but never delved deeper into it.

Even if true it seems more prudent to keep a more proven full back, and Azpi is a well rounded full back when played on his right foot. He's mostly seen as defensive because he's been played on the left.

I just don't get him. I know he's only young, but I just don't see it.

Morata? Me either. But then i'm just a good looking bloke who likes football, a bit like you i'd imagine. I don't really think we really know much about top level football. None of us do.

For years i didn't really see what Carrick did, like loads of fans.

I think it's a world accpeted/expected fact that Neymar is supposedly the heir to Messi's throne. It will be a huge shock if it doesn't materialise at this point.

I bet his people would make that a payment clause in his contract, too. Why not!

I think Neymar would be a steal at this price. Purely on the pitch, in today's market, I'd put him at around £90m, he's probably similar in output to when Ronaldo left us.

Off the pitch though he'd be arguably even more valuable to us. Taking the (joint) biggest star from South America would give us great marketing potential there, and even in the Middle East countries he'd be the biggest star alongside Ronaldo. Kids will start supporting United after watching him, that fan base will come to fruition in the next couple of decades. Not sure there's another player right now you could say the same of.
