Stretford End Flags ( aka Tufty )

I know Red Cafe is not the hardcore since it´s people from all over the world discussing things in here. Before I get attacked that´s not a bad thing but hardcore to me is more or less the ones going to away-games regurarly. What do you mean I probably don´t know any? I´ve met Tony O´Neill and some others. I´m also a daytripper since I´m going to Otelul and Sunderland and nothing more this season but that is because I can´t bloody afford it. Thanks for clearing this Tufty shit though mate

I wasn't having a go at you for not knowing any 'hardcore' I was just pointing out not many stand out on here or try and boast about it, neither was I having a go at anyone in particular for being a day tripper.

My point was, however much of a twat he is I'd rather have him than the majority of 'fans' in Old Trafford.

Fair enough but I still don´t understand what he has done to deserve all this shite coming his way

I'm not sure what he did to anyone on here back in the day. A few people are pissed off at some of the t shirts on his website that go a bit overboard and for being too much of a 'top red'.

On this occassion it seems he's organised a massive flag for fergies 25th anniversary, asked for donations and not published the books on it. He may or may not have raised more than needed.

I've been in charge of collecting donations before. Its fairly obvious the most important thing to do is maintain a detailed records of each donation coming in along with all expenses.

Keeping in line with pointless speculation, I think he must have kept some kind of records, but can't be arsed to show them because one random bloke is questioning him.

1 Tuffy and his passion for United is better than 40,000 day trippers sat singing feck all worrying about people treading on their megastore bag.

Nobody is worth 40,000 day trippers, on any level, never mind someone who may or may not be nicking money from United fans. You can't bring proximity to the ground or length of time supporting the club into a discussion about possible theft.

From your point of view in Ireland where the atmosphere is of no concern to you maybe not, but when you sit with the spastics every week then yes he is worth 40,000 day trippers.

No one forced anyone to make a donation and I've yet to see anyone who has donated complaning of anything he's done.

I personally couldn't give a feck what he's done and I certainly wouldn't put any energy into concerning myself with something that dosn't involve me weather he's been honest with the collection or not, all I know is the flag will add a bit of atmosphere to what otherwise would be another regular wank home game.

Blimey mate you make going to OT sound so depressing.

Not really, it's only the match that's not what it used to be, the rest of the day out is same as always, though this discussion is now turning into something else. What I said was 1 tufty with his passion is worth 40,000 day trippers, obviously not financially or vocally if we're beating City but I personally would prefere someone like him to 40,000 sat moaning, not signing a word and filming everything on their iphone.

Well both are conducive to the term "day tripper".

Not many people with an M postcode will spend a day tripping to Old Trafford, or having recently become new fans.

I'm not from Manchester, the bloke who sits next to me with his wife and daughter are from Bristol yet all three of them are up at every song. The term day tripper is inaccurate in what it has become to mean, most people are aware of what it really means and the only people who take offence to it are usually those who fall into that catagary of 'fan'.

Wow, even if he is a thief, thieving from other fans, in your opinion he's better than a foreign supporter who has their annual holiday at Old Trafford, possibly jipping all their disposable income and travelling thousands of miles. Nice one.

Hierarchy of fans, people love being better at something than other, even unquantifiable shit. Top Red points for you this year I imagine.

I usually enjoy OneToAnother but I think he has gone a bit overboard here. It terms of the hierarchy of fans, its more like the hierarchy of problems. Club needs to include fans more in discussions like the German model, where apparently the fan groups design a lot of the "official" merchandise, fans need to be louder, younger (or bring along younger fans), go more often, attend away games, etc, and if you tick all those boxes then good for you "Top Red" status fully deserved.

There is no point having ago at day trippers though is there, or foreign fans that can't attend every game. What your really saying is that there aren't enough fans that contribute to the positive atmosphere for 90 minutes, and even before and after. Not that the fans who don't are a problem. Would your rather the foreign fans not turn up at all, would that solve the problem?

Tufty got replicas made of all the banners taken down by the owners as protest against the Glazer takeover and put them all back up very soon after they were taken down.

Tufty refused to allow the owners of the Flowers of Manchester flag to bring their flag to Munich for the anniversary as it was "now the property of Stretford Eng Flags".

Tufty, via another account, posed as someone involved in the decision-making process of the club and told someone trying to organise the blank kits for the Munich anniversary to stop contacting United, as he he thought he was the only one with any contact with the club and that he was trying to control any contact by anyone else.

Tufty asked BeardedGenius off here for permission to use one of his designs, BeardedGenius declined, and a complete rip-off of his design was made anyway.

And now with this, he's been asked to provide the Paypal receipts of the donations for this flag, a simple process, by me and several other Reds wondering how he raised £3.3k in 7 days and then £20 in 16 days and he refused.

Even the flag itself is cringing and shit, "the impossible dream made possible", fecking pseudo-poetic Scouselike gibberish. Up there with the time he tried to get 1,000 beachballs to throw around the Stretford End with "Stretford End Flags" printed on them.

Again adding things I've not said, I honestly couldn't give a feck who comes to Old Trafford, where they are from or how much it costs them. That's their decision. I'm not getting into the meaning of day tripper again, this thread is about tuffy and people jumping on the band wagon to call him a cnut, I've no need to stick up for him but it's a bit rich when theres no one in this thread does as much as he does to try get things going again and my opinion is I'd rather have him than 40,000 day trippers bringing feck all except their disposable income.

Where the feck have I had a go at anyone? for the last time what I actually said (and nowhere did I mention foreign fans or a hierarchy of fans) is tufty is a bit of a helmet at times but I'd rather have him and his passion than 40,000 day trippers, and by day trippers I mean 'fans' who turn up from anywhere and sit their expecting to be entertained, moan about people standing and sing feck all.

I'm not from Manchester and couldn't give a shite where anyone is from and the only people who are offened by the term day tripper are those that fall into that catagory.

Well your point about "40000 day trippers" is a totally disingenuous to start with, since we have 50000+ season ticket holders, not to mention away fans.

Also, it's a bit crass to suggest people coming to their first game from afar sit their and snap pictures on their phone, "expecting to be entertained."

I've had season tickets in the less noisy parts of the stadium and seen people come and go from all over the world. I'd say a fair majority of them wanted to contribute to the atmosphere and make the most of what's probably the best experience of their lives.

It's a total myth people come, sit down, pull out their camera and swan around with megastore bags annoying regulars.

What a load of bollocks. So why is the atmosphere so shite compared to when the place held 50,000 even though we play better football and are on the back of so much success?

Because a sizeable number of the club's hardcore left when the Glazers came in.

calm down, i was a bit wound up by the daytripper thing since i thought you didn´t like foreigners like me coming to OT but now i understand your point. I just find it strange that people like Shane, Fred the red aso thinks he´s such a cnut. I was just curious why. Have a nice evening mate and I promise you there will not be a song sung in the next 2 matches that I won´t join in with;)

I wern't having a go at you mate, I know loads of lads who only go to a few games and come from Ireland/Norway/Sweden but get stuck in when they do.

As I said, I'm not from Manchester so can hardly have a go at anyone for not doing but I won't be slagging the lad off when I know the effort he puts in to get the atmosphere going even if it is to build up his top red status.

Just to add... and Amir can confirm this. Last season I met up with a lad through Amir on here, we went to Everton away Liverpool and Rangers at home I think, I drove him all over and on the night of the game he slept in my daughters bed (shes 6 ya sick bastards she stayed with me) it was his first time watching United and he took great pride in the fact he'd taught himself every word to every fecking song, every game he stood and sang his heart out and he was from Isreal.

 brilliant. but who are filling their seats if it's a myth that people turn up and contribute nothing?

No, you're making a direct correlation between people that walked away and day trippers.

The people who took the more vociferous fans' season tickets that walked away are just as culpable than those who show up for a day from the USA or wherever.

You're blaming a minority of our fanbase inside the ground for the poor atmosphere. We have 50000+ season ticket holders, which I am one of. More than enough to make a racket, you picked an easy target, exaggerated the fallacy surrounding them, to defend an absolute plonker.

I could have pointed out you both joined at the same year. I wonder if your tuftys evil twin brother/sister? :p

 I saw that. At least he asked, I suppose.

Surely no one's daft enough to be caughing up money to him anyway.

Exactly. He's well-known by a lot of people for his antics. It's not an unjustified witchhunt.

I'm sure he's a lovely bloke away from SEF, loves his mum etc. But he's done a lot of risible and idiotic things over the years to get people's backs up and a lot of the shit that comes his way is entirely justified.

He's a fecking cnut.
