Television Stranger Things (Netflix Original) | CONTAINS SPOILERS

Agree. Most very good, and 1 episode
(Episode 4 - Dear Billy)
was absolutely great. And honestly
if they decided to kill Max off in that episode that would have been a great moment and emotional death too. But tbh she has carried the plot while Eleven is away getting her powers back and the villain Vecna is partly her villain as well as being revealed as Eleven's eventual villain so it makes some sense to save her and keep her for the finale battle.

I do think the cast bloat is kinda ridiculous though and for a horror show they are really lacking in permanent death of main characters. So while I can see why they spared Max, I'd personally cleave 3 or 4 kills to the bloated cast as soon as possible. They keep adding characters and adding more depth to characters who seemed temporary at the start and they dont remove characters. Becomes a problem
Agree with all of this. The season peaked at episode four,
and I really think they need to start killing off some of the main cast. I was sure Nancy or Steve wasn't going to survive that final episode, and I think it's a bit weak that they have all survived this season, given the horror genre we've moved into.

theres still 2 episodes to go, in July. I think Nancy will survive as she’s learnt the background. Steve I think will make a heroic sacrifice to save someone, either Nancy or Dustin.

There is so long between seasons, I can't even remember what this fecking thing is about anymore. I need to rewatch the whole thing tbh, but I just can't be bothered. I don't remember it being that great in the first place to warrant a complete re-watch. I can't even remember the names of the characters. Picking up season 4, I feel like I'd just be lost.

Thought the main storyline following Nancy, Steve, Dustin etc in Hawkins was great and the strongest since season 1. Thought the B storylines were all very weak and a bit redundant. Eleven and Hopper could have been covered in one episode and would have been stronger for it imo. Mikes Cheech and Chong roadtrip hasn't had much pay off so far, though maybe it helps to shift the tone here and there.

You pick it back up quickly. No trying to be a smart ass but its not complicated.

Also they should 100% make a Dead by Daylight style game based on Stranger Things. There was a DLC for that game where you could play as the Demogorgon, Nancy and Steve but I think a whole new game in that style with Stranger Things specialised mechanics would be a great way to capitalize on the show. A 2nd DLC with Vecna and playing as Max isnt going to cut it.

Been listening to this banger all day.
Youtube is determined to get me to listen to it all day. I love it, its a great song, i listen to it regularly but its been the next song on every piece of music i select on it for the past week.

Was very, very pleased with the season. The extra runtime was used impressively well, the show never dragged and I think they balanced the horror and increasingly dark themes well with more character-based levity. Episode 4 is probably the show's peak so far.

Not the most consistent writing throughout, some very heavy-handed expository monologues at times where characters would just explain the plot for four minutes. But overall I thought everything (except for the Russia stuff) was very, very entertaining and exciting and the seasoned deepened the mythology in interesting ways.

Going into the home stretch, I'm very worried
for Steve. He seems to be set up for a great sacrifice with the whole Nancy rebound thing, her being in danger and the demo-bat wound. He's probably the character I'd be saddest to see go and the question is whether he might be so indispensable to the series that they'll give him plot armour.

Didn't think the character bloat was as big a problem as others seem to think, thought the season was well-paced and handled its multiple plot lines and characters with great balance.

I find Eleven to be really annoying. I stopped giving a feck about her story in like season 2

I've read that Steve was meant to die in season 1 but they kept him on because the character became a hit. I think him dying now would have maximum impact though, so I'm expecting it

Only watched the first episode of the new season so far, but i love it as expected.

Be gutted when this finally finishes along with Narcos first two seasons this is the only show i've got proper into by netflix!

It's been a great season. Very creepy and there's something eerie about the grandfather clock gong distorting the way it does

I loved the twist at the end (well reveal). Was nicely executed

I didn't mind season 2 and 3 or dislike it like some. But this season has defo been great though a few characters are useless

And yeah expecting the same death as everybody else
Dustin is great btw

Dark is on Netflix, isn't it? Go check that out, but make sure you don't watch it dubbed.

Narcos: Mexico is also great.

Great song. Didn't know they put the full scene up on YouTube, found it in that article. It's really something, isn't it?

One of the best scenes ive seen in a tv show for a long time
Normally you think a character dying can advance a story for certain reasons. But I was really routing for her in that scene.

If that makes sense.

I watched season 1 and didn't really see what the fuss was about. Should I give it another go?

If you didn't like the first season then I can't imagine you'll like the rest of the show, the first season and the current one have been the best.

Her boyfriend is even worse. I find the show pretty cringe at times but I'll still watch it

Lucas and Dustin are the only reasonable ones from the initial 5.

I enjoyed this about the same as season 3, which was worse than season 2, which was worse than season 1. It's a shame that they couldn't keep up the quality of the earlier seasons. I still enjoy watching it but one of my problems is that Eleven is such an annoying character, as others have mentioned too.

Yep. Overall Max, Steve, Dustin, Lucas and Robin are fine.

Glad that turd Jonathan didn't feature much but Will and Mike are still there and completely pointless. Completely agree that the cast needs to be trimmed.

Rather bloated (the Hopper scenes in particular) but very good all in all
They should have killed off a main character for greater emotional impact such as Max

On the first episode of season 4. It's funny seeing the difference between the growth spurts of the cast.

Dustin still looks like a kid while Mike looks about 27.

Just finished episode 4, not ashamed to say I cried like a baby throughout the ending. Didn't help that running up that hill is one of my favourite songs of all time. I love this show.

Think they’ve really struggled to decide what to do with Jonathan these last few seasons. He’s a spare part at this point.

The character has been great in this series (kudos to the actress). I just think at some point they need to kill some off to maintain genuine tension.
I don’t disagree with your general point, but yeah I don’t think that’s the character that should be biting the bullet. There’s a few that wouldn’t be missed much but without Max then the season wouldn’t be hitting anywhere near as well as it is.

Would her death have had the same emotional impact as her surviving did, for instance? I can’t imagine it would have.

Fair point. There are more obvious characters for pruning.
