Storeytime 2015/16

Table following Matchweek 16:

I'm still torn over the value of this but have now come around to thinking it does have some merit if one attaches a 5-6 points kinda variable tolerance to it/them. On the basis that any difference of fewer points than this can be quite quickly changed. These tables are more volatile than 'yer actual' cos pts are gained/lost each week, innit.

For cricket watchers - think of the thing they say about adding 2 wickets on to the score situation to assess how chuffed you are with the runs on the board.

Anyway, woffling aside & really just making a slightly tangential observation. And I think this table shows it quite well. If Leicester get much (any) further in front of us (Utd) we aint gonna be catching them if they retain anything like even an average level of form. Or put another way I don't seeing a 12pt gap being hauled back on them if that's where we are when we get to New Year.

I think the storeytime table makes sense, if you want to compare two sides that have a similar amount of points in the real table. Then you could see that eg Spurs are doing better than us despite being on level points.

I think it makes more sense if you take the Storeytime points and the actual points and look at the average between the two. It has value but then a bird in the hand and all that.

For those still paying attention, Villa are now 9 points adrift of 19th placed Swansea while City and Leicester are 3 points clear of the rest heading into tomorrows showdown.

United are 12 points off the pace down in 7th.
