Did any of Liverpool's black players show any solidarity with Suarez when that was going on? I did think the club's defence of him was a bit OTT but I just assumed they were closing ranks.

The former Liverpool and England captain claimed that although he and Benitez worked well together, the Spaniard never liked him "as a person".

Gerrard also labelled his old manager "stupid" for selling midfielder Xabi Alonso and said he was "embarrassed" by his 'facts' rant, but Benitez chose not to respond to those comments.

The only black player in the first team was Glen Johnson I think, Sterling was still in the youth team (he made 3 first team appearances that season). Johnson did wear the infamous Suarez shirt which led to Paul McGrath saying he should have refused to.

I note that the "Does Steven like money?" opening to a conversation is conveniently left hanging in a way which makes Benitez seem strange and rude.

That's not even the best thing Diouf said....

He Told Senegal's Radio Futur Media: "Gerrard is just jealous of me. He hasn't achieved what I have done in football.

I'm one of the bigger Rooney fans still left on here. And am in the camp that knows he will come good like he always does.

But I think he will do another book. His first one was called 'My Story So Far' and so much has happened since then.

And they two fell out. Lots of stories to be told there on other things.

I initially read that as horse prick which strangely would be an equally valid comparison.
