Stevan Jovetic

this statement is flawed in its premice. Never has and never will a youngster from low-key Fiorentina belong to the crop of the most over hyped youngsters, simply because the top clubs under the limelight will always bring in prospects that people will instantly tout as the new star.

Jonny Evans, David Ngog, Jack Wilshere, Theo Walcott belong to this category. Unlike those above, Jovetic had already proven his trade statistically by finishing top scorer of the Serbian league aged 18. His performances with la viola are far from underwhelming although he took time to settle in - he's one of the select few foireigners to be quoted by his nickname in the gazzetta dello sport.

Is it supposed to mean something special ( honest question) ?

Jovetic may turn out to have a great career and be a very good player, but so far he is only 20, and aside form people such as yourself (vuc) most have only seen him play in a couple of games, all of a sudden he is rated as one of the best young players in the world - this is far too much and leads him to be called 'over-hyped' by people such as me.

I haven't said anything, so don't be pointing fingers.

You reckon he is one of the most over-rated players in 10 years - I'd say that was the overreaction here.

Italy has a strong sense of identity, so as a foreigner to be treated like a "family member" by the country's leading sports newspaper surely is an admission of sorts to your quality.

Italian journo's hate Mourinho but still call him "Mou" don't they

without him they'd sell twice less papers, so I think it's more of a submission mantled by familiarity, just as you would try and act friends with your boss and call him by his name.

No offense but how is Ngog overated? he cost 1.5 million and is 20. People just looking like spas here....
Am thinking the same to be honest, he could turn out to be a bargain IMHO. He's nowhere near the finished article yet, but at the age of 20 already does a job for Liverpool with a scoring record of about 1 in 4. That's not too bad after all considering he's playing for a struggling side and lacks experience.

Who's out there around the same age as good if not better than him and have played consistently as well as him last few years? :wenger:

his performance today didn't contribute much to changing my opinion on him sadly

After 2 goals against Bayern in the week, he has 2 assists and a goal today. The goal did come when the keeper was out of the net though, tbf.

Every time I've seen him (which isn't that much in all honesty) he looks like a good player. Defo some talent there - I wouldn't mind him playing for us - Especially if he plays on the left

Seems like a tidy enough player. Italy is suits him though imo.

Good leap to win the header to set up Gilardinho's second. Seems he's only going to get more and more Rooney-like.

He plays two positions we could really use(left wing/second striker) and seems to be fairly powerful. The way he shrugged off the Bayern player for his second was great.

Well, you rate Tosic. Says it all.

that's smart remarks and there's being a dumbass...

Time will tell if stevan can hit the heights of someone like a Rooney. What's the most he's got in a season?

Sounds like the type of striker we could do with (only seen him play a few times) but we should be after a striker that could play up front in a 2 against most sides and wide left when we play 4-3-3.

Any news on Jovetic ?

I doubt we will be going in for him considering we have 6 Zillion young strikers coming though. If we buy then I imagine it will be a striker that is ready to make an impact in the first team such as Dzeko!! But I would be very happy if we got Jovetic as he is a class act and has probably more potential than any of our young strikers coming through!

He can also play out wide on the left and in cental attacking midfield positions. I've seen him play about six or seven times for Fior and he's the kind of player that can really get you out of your seat.

Quite day for the Sunday Rags so just thought I would add a bit of muppetry and say that this kid would be my preferred signing if we were to sign anyone!! Balotelli would be nice but I would still prefer Jovetic - a goal scoring attacking midfielder, big tall lad with electric pace and great skill who can play as second striker who has shown glimpses of becoming a sensation. I hope Mancini is not reading this as he if he is then you can be sure City will make a bid for him tomorrow!

Balotelli and Jovetic will be future superstars. Jovetic would be cheaper so I'd take him plus the Brian May factor :D

Based on your scout report?!

he is not an attacking Mid.. He is a wide striker or second striker but hardly an attacking mid.. I know its almost the same but there are still minor differences.. Correct me if I am wrong guys..
