We're linked with thousands of players at the moment it's crazy.
He'd a very good pick up on a free. Solid CB who's also very decent on the ball. We could then sell one of our CB's (say Smalling or Rojo) and make a profit, while not downgrading.

Btw, from what little i could read in that newspaper spread, it just says player is waiting for an offer and united had an option. Nothing about United being interested

In the current climate, getting Alexis, Özil, De Vrij and Sandro for £60m would be some of the best business we've ever done, half a team (3 world class) for less that what Liverpool payed for Van Dijk!

LVG had a chance to sign him and didnt. I dont think Mou is going to sign him as well.
We don't need a CB but selling Blind and getting De Vrij on a free would be a smart business from us. So, highly unlikely.

For a free I think he is worth it as we seem to have some injury plagued CB's, although am I right in thinking he had a bad knee injury. Wouldn't be the biggest wages and would be some really good cover at CB
Blind is useless in both positions.
The question is whether he's equal ior better than our player. Just because he's a new signing, doesn't mean we should sell other CB. If he's motivated to come, sure I'll take him without selling anyone. It's not like injury curse spare us every year
He is a good option, actually a no brainer on a free. Has improved a lot in Italy, stepped up a bit as a leader in the Lazio backline. I dont know if he is better than Bailly, Jones or Smalling, he is on the same level minimum. He is also good on the ball, better than most of our defenders. He is what we all hoped Lindelöf to be. Our defense is weird, no one really bad but also no one exceptional. He is a good defender and someone we could pair with Bailly or in a back three with ease, but he is not the world class leading defender that would take us a level higher instantly. But he could be someone improving further and forming a good long term partnership with one of our others CBs (Bailly or Jones for example)
Seems he might sign a new contract with Lazio afterall, with a €25/30m buyout clause

Would be surprised. Lazio arent doing too bad, but i would imagine better clubs are in for him. Quite under the radar, but he is improving and i am sure plenty of clubs know him.
I rate him higher than Rojo as an overall CB. More composed on the ball and less mistakes in him. We've got plenty of CB's, but trading him for say Blind while pocketing £15m would be smart business.
De Vrij was the one player I wanted LVG to sign from his Dutch squad in Brazil.

No he can not. But i don't consider Blind as a backup in either positions anyway. He is too slow for LB and too weak for DM. What i meant in my previous post is basically this :
The only centre back we need is someone who's take out defence up a level.

He is quite good, and would take him for free, while selling one of Rojo or Smalling (at last summer, I would have chosen Smalling to sell, but this season Smalling has been superior to Rojo).

Surprised he hasn't played more for Holland, guess he will now with them rebuilding after last two failures.
Mind you I rated Wesley Hoedt when he was also at Lazio and he's been pretty poor for Southampton whenever I've seen them.

Hoedt couldn’t get into the Lazio starting XI though. De Vrij is certainly the better player.
