Static, slow motion zombie passing

This is the picture I get in my mind when I see a two man midfield consisting two of Carrick, Scholes & Giggs. Our own version of passing it in triangles:

This is the worst brand of football we've played that I can remember. Pass it around in the middle for a couple of minutes, while the front line stand there watching, get bored, whack it out wide to Valencia, attempt cross, fail. Get the ball back. Rinse and repeat. Its torture.

And considering we have the likes of Rooney, Van Persie, Welbeck, Nani, Valencia etc etc at our disposal, its actually criminal. Watching us has become a chore of late.

That area is usually where you would see a silva/oscar/mata/ozil/carzola/iniesta etc, or in our case Rooney or RVP, only problem we have is that unlike at other clubs where the wide forwards would come inside and link up ours stick to their wing, leading too the repetitive wide pass.

Interesting, just look how many people are standing still or walking by the time that gif ends.

Would have been perfect for Michael Carrick to push up into that space rather than stay 40 yards behind play. I mean the run is so obvious that even the referee makes it and is in a great position for a shot across the face of goal.

It's utterly bemusing at times. It's like after the Aston Villa game Fergie said to himself "alright so Scholes and Carrick doesn't work to well. They basically just pass it between themselves at half, and then Scholes spanks one out to Valencia. Great pass completion numbers but no penetration."

So then he comes back this weekend (possibly after conferring with Mike Phelan) and says "I know how to sort this out! Take out Scholes and put in ... Giggs! I mean, he's even older than Scholes so that makes perfect sense, and rather than playing accurate long balls to wingers he plays them to the opposition instead. Perfect!".

When the 2 subs came on we picked up the tempo immensely and looked like scoring with pretty much every attack. Then we got a 2 goal lead and just stopped again even though QPR were so shit we were slicing through em like a hot knife through butter. Would love to have someone like Keano in there to stop the slacking/complacency.

That was painful...we lucked clueless and void of any invention.

You'd expect the players out there to try and put in a good performance so that they are picked at the weekend though, but everyone just looked like they didn't really care.

The scratching the balls when I don't have the ball bit is particularly accurate today

We aren't good enough yet to stop relying on our wingers to create stuff for us. There were four strikers on the pitch at one point yesterday, yet not a single winger that could put in some dangerous deliveries. Rooney's delivery was atrocious throughout the game and Powell looked knackered everytime he got into dangerous postitions. Add to that a non existent midfield which resulted into a total mismanaged mess.

Not bumping this because we're playing it against Reading so calm your chops over that.

But is this anything similar to the system that is developing which is 'dish off dish off dish off' where everyone attempts to take less than .8 of a second on the ball for anything?

Must pass! Must Pass, PASS PASS PASS. Somebody just get on the ball and move players around with the ball at feet and open up space for the other players. So many of our guys getting hospital passes and long range bombs to have to try and control.

Maybe for about 5 minutes in the first half. Been all over them really today

We haven't been great in the midfield, TBH. Giggs scored a wonderful goal but his overall performance has been a bit, meh.

Also, the passing from the defense has been atrocious the last two games.

I was only able to watch the second half, but I thought we played excellently - no sign of 'zombie passing' at all.

We slowed things down for a few minutes there...quick, to the zombie passing thread!

Didn't think we were zombie passing at all... we've barely seen that at all this season when it hasn't been Scholes and Carrick together in midfield.

Crazy stuff. We totally dominated the game, Giggs was excellent and him and Carrick were well on top. QPR did nothing in this game... it's one of the most comfortable away wins we've had all season.
