Spurs 2018/19

Feel a little sorry for that young RB, got caught out but the change of pace from Dembele sometimes you just got to hold your hands up and say damn, unlucky kid.

He had a poor start, was booked early on too. But he calmed down after the booking and actually caused Barcelona a few problems with his over lapping runs. Although his final ball was often pretty shit (but many of the Spurs players were guilty of that).

Very happy.

I'm not convinced about Winks though. He was unpressed in the middle so many times and Rose was free, but I don't think he can make that pass. Difference was huge when Eriksen dropped down, was also him who released Kane for the goal.

He really need to be able to release the ball quicker and improve his passing range. Not sure he will, and either way we need another CM in january.
Lamella passed to kane

Changed what? We were the dominant side before he came on, and had already created plenty of chances. He added something fresh in to the game at a time where we upped the tempo, but we should never have been losing the match.

He's a key member of the squad now but I wouldn't say we should always be lining up with him, I actually quite often find him to be a bit of a disappointment when he starts. Coming off the bench he often seems more effective, mixing up our playstyle and adding that energy and drive, he's a great asset to have.

We've actually got very good competition for the wide attacking roles now, which is always good .. with not only Lamela coming very good this season, but Lucas doing well.
You guys had created chances before he came on, but it was easier to do so after he came on. Simply by being able to receive the ball in the hole, turn and drive at the defence, and then make the right pass he made a big difference.

The other plays at spurs can't do that. Not on a consistent basis cause of a variety of reasons. Eriksen has the passing and the vision, but isn't the most mobile with the ball. Alli just lacks the technical ability. Son isn't a passer.

It's a key component for a team that plays a narrow formation which he's the only one that can do so.

I’ve decided to throw all my title winning support behind Tottenham. Not seeing city or pool win would be a tiny silver lining.

Can't see it happening, sadly. We're very consistent in the league but have struggled badly on the big occasions.

You can't lose at home to both your title rivals and hope to win it, simple as that. The chances of us going and winning at the Etihad or at Anfield are pretty low.

Liverpool played us at the best time for them, City it was an even game and Spurs should have got at least a point. I have a feeling we will be in much better shape when we have to go to their stadiums later in the season, the chances are low but certainly not impossible.

Possible, but going to the Etihad is usually a nightmare for most teams and we generally don't do so well at Anfield. Giving up six points at home to your title rivals puts you in a very difficult position, I can't think of a recent winner who did that.

Lamella passed to kane

Right you are! I meant the pass from Eriksen to Lamela actually, looking back at it now. That's the type of pass I don't see any of our current midfielders being capable of pulling off with any consistency at the moment.

Underinvestement for a few years, no transfers in the summer. Two points behind City and in a title race.
Also haven't played in their own stadium for 2 seasons. Best away form in Europe's top five leagues to boot.

I hate 'em but they are great to watch.

So can they make the jump once they move into the new stadium? Is there a ton more cash ready to be poured into them to go for the title?

What Pochettino does year in year out, despite a massive lack of investment in the playing squad, is incredible.

He's either an absolute genius or they're incredibly well run in terms of the structure above him.

Injuries to Alli and Sissoko could be a killer.
Luckily for them, they have two easy home games next.

I doubt it will be immediate but we have been scrimping for quite a few seasons now so hopefully won't be too long.

We'll likely be a similar revenue to Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool once the cash starts flowing. We likely will struggle to ever reach the Manchester clubs financially but will at least give us a more even financial footing compared to the other three mentioned above.

It's great to hear Eriksen's comments on MoTD tonight that Spurs now go to games expecting to win every single one, no matter the opposition.

The only rival in the top 6 I genuinely like. They play good football, give youth a chance, their manager is likeable and respectable, their fans (in most cases) are actually down to earth and good people and there isn't much drama that surrounds the club.

They will finish third. Comfortably the third best side in the country.

If Spurs are lucky, they might even win it.

I mean, Liverpool are a serious injury to VVD or Salah away from sruggling in the league. And City might decide to prioritise the CL.

I think pochettino has done a very good job, but I dont think hes overachieved greatly with the talent on hand. He has world class players in attack, midfield, and defense, and solid players supporting them. He deserves credit for developing the players, but in 2016 and 2017, you could've made a case that Tottenham had the best squad in the pl.

It's not a situation like Leicester in 2016 where hes starting a few misfits every week. I do think that with a little deeper pockets, they couldve won a title, though.

The worst Arsenal side in the history beat Everton 5-2 away last season, tbh. Want to see you away to City and Liverpool before considering you title contenders.

Still getting results despite having Sissoko and Winks in a midfield two shows how impressive a manager Poch is. Similar to how we were destroying teams with Anderson and Cleverley in a two.

Winks is a good young midfielder and Sissoko has been a machine recently, on current form I wouldn't swap him for many midfielders in the league.

Finally I can get behind a team in the title race and stop supporting City, the fecking cnuts.

Rather them than Liverpool. No doubt about that but I can't see them keeping pace tbh, their record in the games against the other big teams is just not good enough and we all know they can't lose the bottling habits.

I'm a Spurs fan for the next 5 months. Come on lads! Lets not bottle this one yeah?

Eriksen, Alli, Son, Moura, Kane... They've got some attacking talent haven't they.

Pssst.. Here's a tip for ya... You need a centre mid.

Nice round of fixtures coming up. Foolish not to think they are in with a shout for the title.

Then I am the biggest fool there is because even though I would love it if they won the title they won't do feck all. They'll be 8 points+ away from 1st come may.

Me too!
And Glaston was/is my favorite poster for all this time.

#COYS pls

A point above city now, surely they have to say they're in a title race? You'd have to imagine they'd spend in January, it would be ridiculous not to.

I would prefer them over Pool or Schitty. The scousers or oil sheikh chequebook Pep? Hell no.
