Sporting Club de Man United watch

On the left behind Hojlund. More freedom to stay forward in that system than currently. Will be between him and Garnacho
Not for me. From watching last night the ability of the 10s to play in the hole with their back to goal was important in build up, something Rashford is really poor at. I think he’ll go 2 of Mount, Amad and Bruno. No idea how Garnacho and Rashford fit in tbh.

It's hard to believe this is the same club that gave us Bruno and Rivaldo. Thank you Sporting CP.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes, Marcos Rojo and Nani

In terms of getting new players and academy, Sporting is one of the best in the business.
Especially considering their size and the country's size compared to other big clubs and leagues in Europe.

Which of their players are worth looking at?

Diomonde, Quenda and Gyokeres are the obvious picks but there are a few more that could be great signings as well, like Hujlmand, Gonçalo Inácio, and maybe Pote (Pedro Gonçalves).
Trincão is playing great but I don't think that he would do well in the Premier League

How is Debast the RCB?

He was highly rated at Anderlecht and seems to be a technical CB/RB hybrid perfect for 3 at the back.

So, basically, the whole of the first team?

I mean, I'm not saying we should get everyone but Sporting does have some interesting players and mostly important, players that work very well in Amorim's system.

Still not sure how I feel about him. His errors cost Sporting the Supertaça vs Porto and sometimes he feels a bit shaky, but that might be because he was/is adapting to the system and new team. Lately, he looks way more solid though

I missed the match. Hope Amorim is OK in his luxury hotel room.

We did them dirty.

This season with Amorim:
League:
11 wins/0 draws/0 defeats. + 34 goal difference

UCL
3 wins/1 draw/0 defeats +7 goal difference

After Amorim:
League:
2 defeats -2 goal difference

UCL
1 defeat -4 goal difference

It's what happens when an entire established management structure is ripped out mid-season. Pretty ruthless by us.

As for their players Inacio is the one I'd take. He's a faster, taller Martinez.

Shows what an influence Amorim had on them. People keep saying it’s only the Portuguese league. Doesn’t matter. Not every manager can win games even when there playing easier teams. Amorim will get it right for us.

Realistically he should been able to carry on from Amorim. It should have been easy… everything was already set up. Just like slots carrying on from Klopp or bettering him even.

Yeah, or Moyes.

So sad to see. I really hope Amorim works out here, would be awful for us to inflict this collateral damage on them Mid season for nothing, and obviously I want to win.

Yeah, it is. They were in absolutely great form and it has all gone to shite.

This hasn't worked out for anyone. Sporting are terrible without Amorim, and we're terrible with him.

Kidding! Relax guys I'm actually a big fan and I'm certain he'll be great for us once he's settled (and gets better players).

Sporting Chairman said this at the time of his appointment:

"Today we are here, and I can say that we have the same feeling that I had five years ago in this same room. I have very little doubt that João Pereira in four or five years will be in one of the most powerful clubs in Europe. He'll find a fabulous group of players, with a captain and a fabulous staff. Above all, he will find a Sporting that will make him grow. In turn, Sporting finds a coach who will continue to make the club grow"

Varandas, November 11th, 2024

Sacked him over a month later.
