South Africa vs England - T20,One Dayers, Tests.

the tail does it yet again
serously though the top 4 must push on from their good starts

Get in! Masters of the last wicket stand!

Monty - Onions - Onions

and for those who are wondering, yes I long since filled my pants with poo with about 3 overs to go.

Brilliant finish again, and there have been some extraordinary ones since the 2005 Ashes Series. Just a shame Ian Bell didn't quite see it through, as he didn't need to play at the ball that got him out.

Yeh, Bell deserved to be there at the end, pleased for him, as for me, behind Pietersen he's our most talented batsman, some of his straight drives are a joy to watch at times.

And this was just the type of innings that his critics have claimed he's not capable of

Thank feck for that! what is it with England and looking comfortable before throwing wickets away and looking like losing it!?

Ian Bell came of age today, everyone knew he had talent but in that situation hes never proven he can hold it together before, well done to him and Colly is just a man made for that situation, Captian Block indeed.

Now if we can just find some form from Pietersen that would be nice....

Strauss hasn't had a great series, either.

Great final session

I've scolded Bell in the past, and I want to praise him here, but at the same time... what a ridiculous dismissal. He'd done all that hard work, and he tossed it away at the end, and we were bailed out by Onions obduracy yet again. He never ever had to play the ball, was a high bouncer nowhere near his stumps... it's the sign of a weak mental player for me. But one who did enough to help us cross the finish line for a draw today, so fair play

Wat a load of bollocks. This time he got out to a fine delivery by Morkel. Shit happens.

Bullshit. It was a semi loosener. A top batsman should be leaving that alone all day long, especially in that position. Posed no thread to his wicket whatsoever, and was a very easy leave

Ay I don't want to be too harsh on him, he was one of the better performers of the test, and his performance helped pull us out of a whole

He didn't finish the job, and he didn't finish it because of a mental mistake for me, the kind we've come to associate with Bell. I don't think too many question his talent

True but Strauss has been almost imaculate for the past 18 months to 2 years now and held our batting line up together single handedly at times during the Ashes series...i think its understandable hes going to have the odd off period at some stage...Pietersen has been off form for a while now going back even before the ashes and his achilies injury....i agree with Nasser Hussains view on him i think he needs to sit down and ask himself how good he wants to be because theres no doubt Pietersen can be the best player in the world if he wants it enough....at the moment he dosnt seem to be totaly in love with the game.

Just think hes someone who sells himself short, Kallis is an ideal role model in the sense he bats every innings as if its his last and makes the magnitude of runs Kevin should be.

Hopefully it was a turning point for him in his carear, 'tough runs' have always been whats been labelled Bells weak point, plus i think the whole shane warne episode didnt do him any favours with all the sherminator business...painted him as a rather fragile intimidatable figure.

fecking hell Brad, you're a good poster normally but you know feck all about cricket.

It's a lot of dramaqueen stuff from Brad as usual. "ridiculous dismissal", "mentally weak"..

But he has a point. Bell could've just left the ball. Hardly a 'ridiculous dismissal', though.

Would just like to thank South Africa for breeding talented cricketers and then exporting them for our use.

Many thanks.

We could do with a really tall, express-paced fast bowler if they've got any spare

:P

I see Kieswetter is part of the Lions squad

Well now that's just not true :)

It was the reason Bell looked like his test career was over a couple of matches back... he's always had talent, but he gives his wicket away too easily. He's helped salvage the test for us there, he really ought to have stuck it out to the end to make sure of it though, instead of exposing our 11th man for three overs at the end

Talk is of the groundsman preparing a "result" pitch for this one, so it could be one where winning the toss is important. The South Africans will be all-guns blazing for this, and we need a couple of our batsmen to step up.

Expect to see a green top wicket for this one, as northstand said the Johanassburg groundsmen has said hes received instructions to make sure its a 'result pitch' which is basically code for a seamers paradise, seeing as South africa are desperate for a win and their king spinner Harris has been shite for the last couple of matches (as well as Swann being a real danger man for their batsmen) i dont expect to see much spin in this wicket at all either, nor do i expect this to go past 4 days, if that....The weather in Jo-burg has been crap recently to....could very well be a 200 plays 250 first innings type of game.

Think this will be a very entertaining test, the conditions are certainly condusive, the game will advance very quickly i think.

Strauss gone, first ball of the match.

A blinding catch apparnetly but even so, bloody hell.

All about whether our bowlers can do the same back, I'm not confident to be honest

South Africa's batting line-up looks really strong on paper. McLaren can actually play pretty well. Just checked his average in first class and it's only 27, but I've seen him play a few times and he looked like a decent batsman.

Well, you certainly called that one, mate!

Some awful shots from the England batsmen today. South African could bat us out of the game by tea tomorrow.

Terrible day wasnt it, Amla has always been more than useful at short leg but that catch off strauss was incredible, set the tone for the rest of the innings unfortunatly, never got the feeling anyone really looked like making big runs today and credit to Steyn and Morkel, you can see why Steyn especially is ranked number 1, when he gets it right hes lethal....just hope Anderson and Sidebottom get a bit more luck (and obviously swing) tomorrow thought they bowled well in that last session beat the bat a lot just couldnt find the edge....first hour tomorrow will be crucial if England cant get atleast 2 wickets then the test match could be all but over this time tomorrow.

If they can't use it properly in a stop-start game like cricket what do you reckon its chances are in football?

Nothing wrong with the technology its the bufoons that are using it that are the problem, everyone from here to baghdad could hear that edge yet a totaly incompetent 3rd umpire whos sat on his fat arse scoffing twinkies all day couldnt even remember to turn the fecking sound up...Jesus Christ!

England are in deep shit. Could do with some more rain. Smith is a fecking cheating bastard hypocrit.
