The first T20 match is on Friday sowhat are the expectations for the tour, in all forms of he game?

England won the opening Twenty20 match by just one run thanks to the Duckworth-Lewis.

Our highest ever score i think i heard someone say as well.

That was the shittest bowling I've seen in a long while. And I've been watching India bowl in every match we've played.

Why are Sky pretending this is a still a contest?

To give them something to talk about I guess.

What a woeful display, defeated before they even took the field to bat it seems, might have done the team some good if they'd gone down fighting but not to be.

Pathetic and embarrassing.

Broad and Anderson have now joined the ranks of those carrying an injury ahead of the ODIs, Plunkett's been called up just in case.

Showed some good resilience to win the one-dayer today.

Strauss' form looks set to continue. Been a remarkable rise for him since a little before he became Captain [the tour of India or New Zealanad wasn't it?].

Trott's liking his trip down memory lane thus far it seems.

An early start today, half eight.

England have wont the toss and put South Africa in to bat.

Ahhhh test cricket. I've had over a year without it having moved to Sweden, where they very much don't show it! Although I did stumble on some Indians having a proper game there one Sunday

Nice early wicket from England, bit of a cheap one from Smiths point of view

Hmm first time I've seen this full review system being used, just cost England a wicket there, albeit the right decision made. Always looked high, surprised the umpire gave it

Doesn't seem an awful lot of point to the umpire now though!

Bad day thus far on many fronts.

Strauss out to an unplayable ball early on, a foot off the deck if that so i heard.

KP went but it was a no ball.

Bell in a shocking dismissal by all accounts, this could be his last test match for a while.

He just left it Nick. Utterly ridiculous. The ball is arrowing into his stumps and he just left it!!!

He does my head in, and if it is his last test match for a while, there will be no complaints from me

Prior's just gone as i write this, could be all out before 250 at this rate. Jeez.

I'm flicking over to TMS every now and then for updates, that what happened huh? Well there was some surprise Wright didn't get the nod instead of him anyway.

Controversy

Broad done by the review system, but South Africa didn't appear interested in referring it, and he's claiming the decision was made by the South African dressing room, who obviously get to see the incident again, which isn't on

Sir Swann.

Batted ourselves out of a huge hole here.

Still in trouble mind!

Yep, great partnership from Swann and Anderson. Over a 100 now and a record 9th wicket stand against SA.

I really hope Swann can get his century

Sir Jimmy too!

Cracking bail out job after the higher order gave their wickets away. To have batted out virtually all the day and got to within 60odd runs... I'd have slapped you silly if you'd told me that would happen a couple of hours ago

Tricky little spell for them to bat out this evening now

So while i am away and thinking all is lost the tail wagged well and truly eh? Get in!

Swanns'a great character too so we hear, unlike most of the cricket fans on here i have to admit to only really following the national side and not so much the country scene. Has Swann shown signs there that he could be a captain one day?

He's a bowler, so that makes it unlikely, captains always tend to be batsmen. Plus, he's 30. Strauss is only 32, so it would be a very temporary measure

Alastair Cook (24, 25 on Xmas Day) looks to be the next in line

9/1 SA closed on. Rain is threatening tomorrow so i heard.

Just as an aside and small comfort for Strauss at the time, but a local brewery pledged to give out a beer to everyone n the ground when Ntini took his first wicket. And in that heat it probably went down pretty well.

Why are England not even thinking about the win?

Anderson has a few quotes about batting the day out.

Forget the win we'll be lucky to get a draw out of this.

169/3 at Tea should mean we have secured the draw, great innings by Pietersen

There's 35 overs to go, 195 runs needed, if they really wanted to they could have a go, but I wouldn't, maybe see where you are with 20 overs to go

EDIT
Rightly Collingwood and Trott are batting out for the draw now that Pietersen is out. 197/4 at the moment, 18 overs remaining

I'm guessing it's a Boxing Day test, so England shouldn't accept the draw, just make the SA bowlers bowl the whole day out

EDIT2
Oh dear, really poor by England
