It’s 2023 - we’re almost a quarter of the way through the century.

Pick the best / your favourite songs since (and including 2000).

White Stripes - Seven Nation Army

M.I.A - Paper Planes

Jay-Z - 99 problems

Arctic Monkeys - I bet you look good on the dance floor

Wait, does this imply that the song of the previous century has been decided? Was it Bohemian Rhapsody? Thriller? A Beatles song?

All in all, it's been a pretty shit century so far going by those lists above. I don't have any suggestions mainly because I also can't think of anything decent.

I think this is more from your time

Not only that, I don’t know any of the artists save a few. I suppose there isn’t a singer on par with Ray Charles or Marvin Gaye or Freddie Mercury or Robert Plant for starters in this century?? Or songwriters like Lennon and McCartney or Dylan or Jim Morrison??
I‘m sure there is.

76.75 % chance the song of the century hasn't been released yet.
100% chance it has I’d say.

The fact is we are all approaching middle age now and therefore music is getting progressively worse and will never be anything like as good as when we were in our prime.
