Son Heung-min | Spurs

No way he feels remorse, he's a twat. Remember how when he broke Andre Gomes' leg, he was acting like a victim himself.

It works for him though? The Spurs fans seems to be lapping it up, and after the Gomes leg break everyone made him out to be the victim because he cried a bit.

It works for him but as long as he stays at that low level wanna be big club, I'm fine with it. He was a disgrace yesterday

Agreed. I think non-Spurs fan are catching up to it though. Words are cheap, when your actions are on display for 90-180 minutes a week and you're a cheat most of it, saying sorry afterwards will only get you so far.

This thread is hilarious as a neutral when you take into consideration this is a fanbase that worships Bruno Fernandes
So funny that people are angry at the guy who hands out leg breakers and received the most reds in a single calendar year in the PL attempting to cheat his way to a win.

That whole club of Spurs is rotten, they're babies, when the going gets tough their reactions are hilarious. When he was down, I'm sure his teammates told him to milk it as much as possible. Massive credit to Utd for responding in style and with great football

I always liked Son but was surprised by him yesterday. I know cheating goes on every week but I was surprised by him, staying down that long holding his face. Physio's coming on like he was concussed. It's a joke and he should be embarrassed, the game has changed in so many ways. Rules, officiating, Var and play acting that bad is wrecking a much more faster sport, shame. He should be embarrassed by that.

Im not sure people in glass houses should be throwing stones when we literally just saw Bruno Fernandes midweek do exactly the same as Son in order to get a last minute penalty against Granada. Pretty embarrassing the childish over-reaction to Son's play acting when all proffessionals are doing it now. The fault lies with the ref and VAR for not seeing through it.

I hope he at least gets booed to feck next season at OT to remind him it.

Wonderful player and would love him at Utd. Don’t begrudge him for what he did, if he dived like that for us I’d be loving it. VAR should’ve never ruled it out though.

I didn't see United Granada, what did Fernandes do in the game?

Bloody hell how upset people are. It was a blow to the head and a free kick. He try to make it bigger and get Mctominay off, but the ref not buying it. Correct call in the end.

If he stayed on his feet it's a goal though. Var only looked because of his antics.

For greenwood's goal pogba palmed dier of In the face but he played on and var didn't even see it.

Nonsense, Bruno doing a shitty thing doesn't mean we cannot criticize Son for something equivalent. This type of logic is completely stupid for me. This is football, you can criticize what you want, it doesn't mean you excuse certain things

The manager is the bellend who instructs his players to play act and exaggerate minor contact. Herrera used to do some of that for us when Mou was the boss.

He did it for PSG against us. I wish we could say it's just a Mourinho thing but it's everywhere. Practically drilled in to players now.
You're still aiming for a false equivalency if im interpreting your question correctly. But no screaming isn't cheating, for example some players are genuinely soft or hyper reactive. Exaggerating a fall where you have been fouled is not cheating. I also don't know why you're asking me about 'cheating.'

Lying on the ground borderline feigning consciousness and faking medical treatment for an extended period, after getting a finger near your face is repulsive behavior in the eyes of most people who enjoy sport and to do so to try get an opponent sent off as well as disallow a goal is especially low and dishonest

Of course your last paragraph is correct but this is a big part of the problem. When it's an opposition player the cheating is called out. When it's one of your own players all of a sudden there are new rules, caveats.

So for example here you're saying it's ok to fake scream or fall over when you don't need to but its not ok to fake to the point of getting the physio on. It's not a false equivalency, you're just making excuses for our own players.

Rashford got a slight tap on his ankle yesterday but went down holding is face. Yes Son might have been even worse but both are cheating.

You're coming up with excuses for our own cheating because of tribalism. If we want to rid the sport of it fans, managers and the media need to call it out with consistency.

I hate to say this but, young and black. it’s certainly not down to talent. he talks absolute nonsense and his bias always shows.

Jenas is no worse than 90% of the other pundits. Thinking he got the job because of his race is a terrible take, I hope you realise it too.

Now that i've calmed down and allowed time to settle my mood - it's still a fecking ridiculous decision

But, given our away form this season and points gained from a losing position - perhaps it was the fuel we needed to really get going?
Easy to say it now after a win of course, but it seemed like the players really wanted revenge in every area of the pitch.

edit - goes without saying of course that he doesn't deserve to get racially abused, and those engaging in that behaviour are depraved and embarrassing.

He got a forearm in the face in that incident. Rewatch the goal side replay. The poster you’re responding to explained everything clearly the difference. Feigning injury for 4 minutes deliberately to apply pressure the VAR situation is beyond normal levels of trying to gain an advantage.

You are still literally comparing 2 completely different things. Anything I've said goes for our players or any others. Sons specific behaviour yesterday was disgraceful and I'd be ashamed of one of our players for going the exact same thing.

Why is he a “piece of shit human”?

Maybe "piece of shit" was a bit of heat of the moment thing, but because he is a cheat, and far from being the only offender in football. I have no respect or otherwise, for sportsman, who faint serious injury, in order to gain an advantage. They have no place in sport as they lack any sportsmanship. So yeah, maybe despicable, sad excuse for a human is more apt description.

Not sure when it happened but saw a game where Pogba handled the ball in the area and for some reason went down in the box holding his face like he got knocked out.

It was probably the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen in football as on replay there was no contact at all with his face - it looked like he was trying to cheat.

Yes this is an example of players going down easily. Pretty much everybody in this thread accepts every team including us has them. And many people cringe at it and others see it as part of the game. But it's not the same as what son did yesterday. As outlined many times above

I used to really like him but Mourinho has done his thing. He comes across as a cheating mercenary now along with half their players.

Well you sort of made my point - he doesn't stand out for any other reasons.

The BBC are known to hire to keep balance which is a good thing, but he personally wasn't chosen because he's a great pundit. He's an awful commentator, and not exactly a great host either.

I'm sure you're also aware of the MOTDx show also before you judge.

I think calling someone a cheating cnut etc is fine, if they’re not directly messaging the player. People are allowed an opinion and all that (though it's often hypocritical in nature, but again that is part of football and is fair enough). The problem is when thousands of people begin to message or comment abuse on the players page. I think in general it's uncalled for, and this moment in time it always seems to lead to racist abuse. It's a shame that a percentage of supporters can't keep it to things like cheating cnut, without bringing race into it.

Did you see the video I posted on the last page, and does that constitute cheating in your eyes?

Can't find any video but I've no idea why youre asking me about cheating and aren't the first person to. If talking about specifically what Son did yesterday, i can think its embarrassing, disgraceful, contemptible behavior and also think that every club in the world has players that go down way too easily and that those are often embarrassing too. But in this thread i am discussing Son lying prone on the ground for an extended period and getting medical attention when at best he was grazed. If id gotten it id have instinctively fallen too i have no problem with that. His behaviour after that was disgusting

He doesn't need to stand out for any other reasons, because plenty similar jobs are given to pundits/commentators of a similar ability who happen to be white - why can't the same happen for Jenas?

Nobody would argue that the standards for punditry in this country are particularly low, so it's no surprise to see bad pundits being given seniority - Sky & BT are no exception - so if your point was about that generally, I would agree with you.
Instead you're honing in on his race. It's a ridiculous point.

I just disagree they're completely different. Both are cheating. Yeah Son to a greater extent but at that point who cares. Both players are faking to get an advantage. Why create different levels of cheating, making one more acceptable than the other? That's just messy and achieves nothing. Just punish all of it and get the game back to a reputable level where professionals respect each other. Like most other sports do.

I'm just frustrated at where the game's at. I almost switched off at half time because of it. Imagine what I'd have missed.

But there are different levels. Diving is cheating. Going down when your shirt is pulled but you might not otherwise have fallen is not, or at least more understandable. A professional athlete lying flat out hardly moving while 2 medics assess his head after the touch we can all see is at another end. There is a spectrum of everything. Of course cheating is cheating, but that doesn't mean particular incidents can't be criticised for being especially offensive to the idea of sport.

Not sure why people are bringing up Bruno Fernandes here. The guy nearly missed a penalty because he had one eye and yet he wasn't taking it to the level of being unconscious on the floor needing the physio to revive him.

Any minority player comes in for it now when they do something bad. I'm ashamed that there are United fans participating in this behaviour.
Yes, move a rock and these creepy people just swarm out. Good to see any forms of racism not tolerated in here.

In my opinion Son didn't do anything worse than what many footballers do nowadays to win a decision. It would've been forgotten had we not scored from that sequence of play. Thing is, the ref should never given the foul because Son initiated the contact by grabbing at McT first. Now this will just encourage more players to try the same thing.

This is part of the problem with VAR. If I remember correctly, the only clip he saw when he went to the monitor was a slow motion clip of the second or two where McTominay swung back his arm. In slow motion, with just that incident isolated, along with the fact that Stockley park have told him to have a look at it, he probably felt he had to give the free. I think if he gets 2 replays, one in normal speed and one slowed down of the whole incident, he doesn't give the free.

Add to that context that Granada was trying to con ref throughout the match. Nothing wrong in paying someone in same coin.
