Solskjaer's legacy and his future

He's taken a bunch of strangers, got them playing like a fairly decent team, and then got them back to playing like strangers.

His record is still better than SAF/Klopp after 180 matches

Who cares? Completely different situations. And both of them were proven world class managers before they took over. And Klopp completely destroyed us a few games ago.

Ole did okay up to the end of last season. Squad has transformed. But huge regression this season. We are drifting. Theres no huge shame/surprise in losing 2-0 to city - these big games are always tough - but we should be nearer the top on points. We have dropped so many points in so many easy games. We just arent going to finish above liverpool, city or chelsea at this stage its already obvious. If the board persist with him I dont think we will even finish 4th.

Moyes of today is the better manager
Moyes is legitimately a fantastic PL manager and has proven it consistently for over 10 seasons. The United job was way too big for him (as it is for the majority of other candidates), but that's ultimately nothing to be ashamed about.

He's ruined it for himself now, if he had gone before this season we'd have said he's done a decent job, even after Leicester i think we'd look back with him with fond memories. Now though, after getting humiliated against Liverpool and City, he's ruined it for himself.

Time to go Ole, you've outstayed your welcome.

rubbish - he’s improved the squad hugely, and rightfully so given the money. He’s got us playing decent football at times but I admit the last period has shown he’s not good enough to take us any further. Things don’t have to be polarised as either good or bad.

It’s not rubbish, team is poorly balanced and looks better on paper than it actually is because it’s been assembled with no plan. Players like AWB and Maguire aren’t good enough but have been signed for huge expense, will be hard to offload and expensive to replace. This is a mess and next manager has huge job to set a standard and culture of accountability, professionalism and work rate as well as implementing huge improvements in tactics and playing style.

Next manager has a huge task trying to rectify wasted time, effort and money.

So you honestly think we’re no better off now than when Jose departed? That just isn’t true.

He steadied the ship when Jose had pretty much blown the club apart.

Hes had some decent recruitment, although most are obvious signings, he didn't really uncover a hidden gem anywhere and the out of the ordinary one, Ronaldo, was maybe not his own doing.

But he's gone as far as he can. He doesn't seem to know how to get the best from the team he has now. A better coaching team would hide much of the problem, but he seems unlikely to ditch his mates and get some professionals in, so he has to take the fall, and they'll be gone anyway.

We’re pretty much exactly where we were which can’t be disputed. What the next manager does or doesn’t do with the players is nothing to do with Ole. Bruno is probably his best signing, if next manager benched him I won’t blame Ole. Sancho looks like a total waste of money, if next manager gets him playing brilliantly I’m not going to credit Ole.

If Moyes or Jose were in charge of this mess people wouldn’t be trying to hand out credit.

The club has bought him some players. Some of them he failed to utilize and the others he failed to take to the next step.

His "football" has been depending on the form and mood of the players all along and the culture is basically getting some former coaches he knew before and hoping the players pull him out of every crisis.

A failure in every department.

So let’s see. 3 years of half a billion blown and we will most likely be 7-8th in middle fo November. I’d say we’re not better off than what it was when Jose left.

So you guys would take the old squad, and a new manager?

It's an important legacy. Like any other club that loses its way we had to learn the hard way that an ex player who knows the club is not some magic solution.

Seems spot on this.

I can't understand anyone who wouldn't say similar.
Maybe a few negative people will try and slate a lot of the signings, but DVB aside I think they're all a strong base for a decent coach to pick up from.
I’ll take a better manager and a worse squad every time of the week. When was the last time shit manager won the league ?

The Leicester guy probably.

Ole's legend status at the club will never be tainted in my eyes.

This situation is now on the board and owners. They need to put the guy out of his misery. He's done now and he can't sack himself and he isn't stupid enough to walk away from £8m pay off and I don't blame him for that either. Why should he?

The board now have to act but there's clearly no plan there either. Shambles.

Ole's legacy is get a proper manager in soon as

at least for others. Fergie and the board are still thinking it's just a dip in form, he knows the club. Shame he can't produce any cohesive football.

His first season he had a nice run then it all went to shit. Paris fluke glossed.

Last season we were dumped out of our CL group. Needing a result in the final game Ole chucks in 5 defenders thinking this cowardly approach would work.

We did well to get 2nd but it was there for the taking with liverpool having an injury crisis and Chelsea being rescued by a top manager who took over for a sentimental amateur manager similar to ours.

Ole was made permanentanager because of Paris. A game that was a total fluke. A keeper error amd horrible defensive errors and the luckiest last min penalty you will see. We sure love a romance this club.

A manager will always be remembered by the trophies won.

Ole was made permanent because half of the squad was on their last months of contract and would have left unless they had reassurances that the next manager would play to their tune

Football without romance is absolutely worthless. Its a shame its not working out.

Still not resigning and bullshitting more and more every post game. Thus tarnishing his legacy every day.

He should’ve walked after the Euro final then he’d have done a good job. Sadly, he’s been shown up for the inexperienced top level manager that he is.

As a player, he’s still a legend.
But as a manager, I’m afraid the Olegacy will be the fallout, the unflattering records he established, brought up only as a yardstick to beat any of our future managers with when they are underperforming.

  • Turned around a very toxic environment
  • Okay transfer record
  • Played awful football for 3 years without winning anything
  • Was a terrible manager outside of his interim period

His legacy as a manager is the club keeping him while our competitors bring in the likes of Tuchel and Conte. The cultural reset was a myth, he didn't bring in youth in a meaningful way, he didn't win any silverware. He leaves nothing behind as a manager, nothing accomplished at all.

He left us with a bloated squad where the starters are overused and bench players out of match fitness.

Currently undoing his own good work which was steadying the ship after Mourinho got sacked.

Now we look like we are in as much of a mess, if not more than when Mourinho left. Arguably with better players in some areas as well, which he cannot get the best out of.
