I don't get this flying around to put offers in, with all the technology available now a days. If anything, it makes you look desperate as walking away empty handed would lose face.

Maybe united needed to show they are serious after putting it off since June?

This will go down the wire in the last second like it did with Berbatov is my guess.

We desperately need him to play against Arsenal, Eriksen does not have the legs for top matches is my fear.

Even if we sign him he'll hardly be thrown in to a game against Arsenal two days later.

Good signing if we can make it happen. I too am still confused as to what our plan in midfield is, as Amrabat is not really a Casemiro backup or a Mount / Bruno replacement. I'm guessing he's our pick for a Carrick type deep playmaker who's also competent defensively, which I think suits his skill set from the little I've seen.

I don't know why his on the ball ability keeps skipping over people's minds. I believe that's what has attracted EtH to him over other potential candidates. He can shield the defence if he has to but can also pass it very well when we have it. Even if we had 60m to spare I would say don't get Palhinha and get someone who can shield as well as pass well.

We won’t get him, our season will collapse once again due to the amount of injuries and huge questions marks in so many positions, ETH gone at the end of the season and Conte will be in by the end of preseason. Rinse and repeat. It’s the United way.

I think it's too late in the day to do the medical and register him on time for weekend fixtures.

Oh don't start.

I was speed reading this fo

I kind of agree with you but ETH is still only one season in and I still have faith in him.

A great team doesn't consist of 11 world class players. We need some functional, pragmatic type of players that allow our "stars" and our system to flourish and hopefully Amrabat is that player.

Whilst I get that we don't necessarily need 11 world class players, there is an argument to be made that actually the best teams do have 11 very good players these days. The bar is so much higher than it used to be. Often clubs will buy players that can take that step to becoming 'world class' or something around there - but I just don't see it with some of our signings.

Doubt he'll feature against Arsenal but i'm confident that he will improve us considerably if played alongside Casemiro and Ten Hag reverts to 4-2-3-1 like we had last year. If Ten Hag tries to force him to be a number 8 a-la Mount/Bruno, it will be a waste of money and effort. Amrabat is a full time defensive midfielder.

He'd need a Visa as well. That seems to take an age these days.

Watch first half against Spurs.
Mount basically played alongside Casemiro in the first half at Spurs which was why we looked half decent for the first time all season. As soon as Ten Hag reverted to his experiment in the second half, we got overrun and lost.

We should try and see if we can get him for a bag of balls.

Why are they so accommodating?

Yep, we clearly need to pump the breaks here.

No way we should be trying to buy a player from a club that actually wants to sell him to us. :nono:

Is he though? A few weeks ago all his stats were being posted here and he looked hopeless defensively.

Like how does this work? Do the guys in the negotiation just ask to pause for a toilet break then leave the room and text Romano directly then just come back and keep negotiating until some other point has agreed and then go again. I can imagine them just sitting there guzzling glasses of water in between agreeing points of the deal to make the toilet breaks look needed.

Amrabat a complete midfielder except for decisive actions in final third.

In the 2nd game of the season
You've kind of agreed with the poster as well.

This statement isn't correct as he can play alongside a dm as a dlp. He has the ball skills and the mobility to go up and down the field.

For it work Mount had to play in a role that is not his preferred role. Deeper and closer to Casemiro. So why not sign someone who is actually used to playing in the role rather than trying to shoehorn Mason Mount in there.

On the looking decent bit, that's the only half of football in 3 games that we actually looked solid in and Porro still hit the post in that half. We have been shaky in every other half of football played.
