yeah we're fecked by FFP. Maguire refusing to leave really did us dirty. Also not being able to sell Donny. Years of overpaying and not selling anyone really killed us.Dont quite understand, we got a decent fee for Henderson and his replacement is alot cheaper, Donny is going on loan.. did we already count those money?
Someone at the club thought West Ham would actually bid 40m for him. That's the only clear blunder we've made this summer.
The 2nd blunder could be considered not just paying Maguire more money to leave but the McTominay one was the clear mistake. 30m extra would have been gamechanging for us buying Amrabat and a LB/striker on loan.
FFP shoved a spanner right in the works. We can’t sell anybody, and city are getting 19m for a league 1 keeper, and 45m for a winger who hasn’t even scored in the premier league. Their FFP in its current state probably looks rosy!
Was a deal secured for DvdB ?
We can't assume money for sales go 1:1 in player spending, some of it may need to be used to shore other and past spending.

It's all related and ties into the competence of how the club is run over time. Yes City skirted rules and cheated at the start. Probably understate wages though can't be proven. The last 5 years they've just gotten to a point where they don't need to do that though. They sell well. They scout well. They pull out at exorbitant costs. They sell players who aren't needed relative to their values. So they've always got the ffp room to do whatever they like now. It'll take time for that to turn around for us, but it starts with ruthlessly selling youth players the second they have value if you don't think they will become stars which we are doing tbf.
100-120m net basically was our budget. We spent roughly 170m? Henderson is loan with buy obligation and not done yet, but overall I don't think we're at 50m or just about there once Henderson goes.
Hendo is permanent and it’s done.
We need people who can contribute now. I am interested in why people on here think we should spend on more unproven raw talents when we already have several very good kids who can’t get a game. It’s a romantic idea but the guys you mention are cheap because they are a risk and because nobody wants to pay to take that risk.
In any case, when you have no money and you have a problem that needs fixing now, sometimes a loan or two is the only way. But I do think it is a problem and one that we’ve brought on ourselves by investing poorly in the past. Some of these mistakes are only obvious with hindsight but they happened too much.
Not announced is it? Also haven't been looking today but yesterday they were saying it was a loan with a buy obligation and wasn't buy right away, did that change? Because if not then the funds don't apply right now.
Transfermarkt has us at £130m net basically. Needs Henderson's funds to just align us to our budget that was reported months ago. Amrabat seemingly dependent on an actual sale for Donny or McTominay.

We've spent 70M for Hojlund, 60M on Mount and 45M for Onana... Last season 85M for Antony, 60M for Casemiro, 56M for Licha.
150-200M per season under Ten Hag. We've paid more than we should have for a lot of these players. How is he being screwed over? We're overspending, shouldn't be surprised it's hit us with FFP, some ridiculous prices here.
Only that he cant bring in an extra player or two because we suck at selling, but he spent his budget. It's not like this was some big surprise dropped on him.

I would like player development to be as smooth as possible consistent with the goal of amassing all trophies as possible. But if bring in Amrabat to support Casemiro that will stunt Mainoo's development. Amrabat is only 27 and if we were to sign him it would probably be on a three year contract. Despite the panic button merchants on the caf, Casemiro is far from done and will be a regular starter for us for at least two more seasons after this season. So how we do develop Mainoo under those circumstances? Perhaps on loan before September 1 for a half season with a decent Championship side and then we'll asses in January what's next for him.
But we can't have it both ways -- stocking talent with buys and developing our younger players at the same time.
Mainoo is definitely liked by ten Hag. I think he'll go above McTominay in the squad player pecking order.
This is no joke FSP 23/24 season states 90% of 2022/23 season can be spent on Wages, Financials, Net Transfer fee, Amortised transfer fees, Agent Fees, Expenses and incidentals. Our third quarter prediction was a final record Turnover of £630m which means the club can spend 90% of that value on all the above £567m
FFP is completely different, the small fine we received this summer of £300,000 was because the Glazers have not invested any money in the last 3 years and miscalculated the ‘Covid’ credit scheme which allows for certain additional financial relief during the last three years.
The club could easily spend £300m with the right owners this summers who invest in the club and UEFA and FIFA would Do absolutely nothing !

The only thing affecting united ability to spend are the Glazers, even the amortised transfer debt of £304m is still only £80m per year in the FSP calculations.

Chelsea also sold what must be close to 90% of last year's squad and may actually be in the black this transfer window. Don't forget that. We on the other hand are well in the red and have been in the red in the transfer window for the last 10 years. That's is why we are broke.
Also, ETH is the last person being "screwed over" when he's spent close to £400m on players in two transfer windows. He has no excuse to not put out a good product on the pitch this season given that amount of money spent.

How much is already allocated to wages and benefits (players and the rest of the organisation) yearly ? Plus general expenses ? I'd guess north of 300m£ just for those.

He’s still being screwed over in the fact that our recruitment team and scouting team are so crap at there jobs he’s having to go to players he’s previously worked with… I read up something before that guardiola as signed like 1 player I think that’s he worked with previously. He tells his transfer team exactly the type of player he wants and I bet they give him a list and he’ll pick which one he prefers. We don’t get that luxury… either that or ETH is just dumb and thinks his previous players can do what they did for Ajax in the prem.

150-200M per season is a more than reasonable budget but we've made some shocking transfers and overspent under Ten Hag. Arsenal challenged for the League with that budget.
Still don't like this potential signing. Bargain bin stuff. Just don't think he's good enough.
