Sofyan Amrabat | signs for United on loan

I have 2 questions.

1, Isn’t he in his final year of his contract? How exactly are we going to sign him on loan if he will be available for free next season?

2, how is our FFP situation so bad when the likes of City, with their 115 charges, are still able to sign players for 60,70,80m or whatever and still get away with it?
City just won the treble, this is kind of the issue with their punishment being so delayed - unless they get absolutely hammered financially that is sets them back a decade or more, they'll just shrug off any fine with ease and then consider themselves legitimate. It would be like someone revealing Apple cooked their books for a decade when they started out and then fining them a tenner.

What a plonker.
Luckhurst has tier 3/4 credibility at best; the 'local/regional' journalist angle doesnt work when applied to MEN for footballing news. At most, it just means a few more ( dubiously reliable) leaks from players or staff members not privy to final decisions, or to being used for smoke and mirrors.

I’ve seen Amrabat and Gravenberch plenty of times live, and I would say Gravenberch is the much better player. He certainly has a far higher ceiling. Not saying Amrabat is a bad player btw, far from it.

It just further proves he is full of shit and always has been.

Zero insider information.
He does get info but it’s only what the club tells him. Doesn’t have contacts with agents etc.

Tap in merchant at it again

But poor amrabat. Sat there for weeks fecking waiting for our incompetent management to make a move.

Now all sorts of expectations heaped on him to somehow be the lone saviour of our entire tactical setup.

No pressure then.

I know he is a CDM but 3.08 xG and 3.86 career xA in Serie A in 4 seasons is shocking. Don’t you get 0.05 just for being in the box for a corner?

Apparently long ball completion is much higher than anything we currently have so maybe he will release our pacy forwards better than Bruno currently does?

He’s literally been on this the whole time? Romano doesn’t get enough respect on here. Not surprising really.

What!! He's been consistently saying it will pick up after Fred and Donny departure. And the same day Donny loan move been agreed. Reliable UK source reports about Amrabat.

Thank you mister analyst.

I was impressed with him at the world cup, so continued to monitor him afterwards and he's the definition of a player that 'had a good world cup'

He's not even one of the top players in the Italian league.

I get Morgan Schneiderlin vibes from this transfer and feel he'll be way out of his depth here.

I don't understand FFP. Chelsea spend silly money. And continue to spend silly money.

He will. Pretty much just numbers and will get 10 mins seeing the game out with a thread made about what does this guy offer.

Honestly would prefer Amrabat to be on a loan as I feel like there could be longer term options available in a year.

Man City will probably have a £40m net spend at the end of this window. I think FFP is real. Our club just accept we can’t sell players for shite.

If we pull this off, especially as a loan to buy, we have played it brilliantly.

The player is unsettled, he only wants to come to United (it seems) potentially due to Ten Hags assurances, Fiorentina are backed into a corner so we can get a deal that works for us from a cost and FFP perspective.
They’re not. They could just refuse and tell Amrabat to see out his contract.

Nothing about this transfer says “playing it brilliantly”. That would have been getting him in for a pre season.

Who gives a shit? It's not his job.

Busquets had 11 league goals in nigh on 500 games for Barca.

He'll be great at closing out games and shoring up the midfield in away games against the top 9.

5m loan fee + 20m obligation to buy and make it happen.

The football department had one job this summer. Raise as much as possible from sales. They failed.
What? Our deadwood is shite and/or constantly on the medics table (DvB / Martial) and the decent players that clubs would want, don’t actually want to move. (Maguire)

I've a theory, we waited till the very end of the window so we can low ball Florentina with this offer of a loan fee already agreeing with the player to insist on United. So Florentina have a choice of the loan fee or him running down the contract.

FFP will be scrapped in the next two years if Saudis keep buying all the talent for their league. UEFA will be put under massive pressure by the big clubs to enable them to “compete“

Amrabat more the profile we need with his defensive qualities. Arsenal game would be ideal for Casemiro next to Amrabat but assume it's going to be too soon.

You’re telling me we waiting all summer just to do a loan deal. He could have made a difference in the first 3 games of the season despite winning 2 of them.

He seems to be a lot more intense of a player? He’s the NT captain isn’t he? I don’t think he’s a shrinking violet. He was very good against West Ham in May. We just have to hope this plan is a good one. I’m underwhelmed with the signings being mooted after the big 3 who I am happy with as I am almost certain as I can be that they improve the squad long term.

If you compare Amrabat to four midfielders in our squad he'd be competing with he has far better pass accuracy, most passes and most progressive passes, while he'd be the second best defensive player after Casemiro.

Eh? He’s been saying that for the entire time.

They could, but who wants a player who is in his last year of a contract, who is training with the reserves and losing value daily? There is no point in not receiving a fee for him at this stage and continuing to pay his wages, just to play hardball.

Fiorentina are boxed in and may need to offer the loan to buy deal at this stage, something they may not have agreed to earlier in the window. United dont seem to have the FFP room to sign him this year, so couldnt have done this earlier in the window.

They get out of his contract and recoup some money from the loan fee?

They may not be a loan fee if the agreement is a loan with a condition to buy.

This is just a mechanism for the buying club to push out the FFP liability out for another year.

Works for selling clubs as it guarantees a sale, rather than letting him leave on a free next year.

You’re telling me we waiting all summer just to do a loan deal. He could have made a difference in the first 3 games of the season despite winning 2 of them.

As it stands it will be a race against time just to register him in time for the weekend fixtures. Even then he has been training alone. Nothing different from woody's tenure.

Who gives a shit? It's not his job.

Busquets had 11 league goals in nigh on 500 games for Barca.

Goals should always be a bonus on a midfielders overall abilities to do his primary job. If a midfielder is doing his primary job well I won't be mad they are not scoring.

This boring stat obsessed culture of modern times is tragic. Imagine getting all hung up about those things for a CDM.

Don't know why we aren't trying to get both, want to keep him away from scousers grip

Romano has been saying all along that Amrabat is waiting on United, I don't understand how he's a tap-in merchant feeding off of Ornstein all of a sudden.

Was this in Holland?
