Hard to judge so early on but who looks to have added well?

For me-

Barca have added two of the best players in the world. I think Fabregas will win the Ballon d'Or one day the cnut.

Shitty have added a superstar in Aguero and kept one in Tevez. Nasri is an excellent footballer - wish we had got him.

United have added three good players with potential to develop to great players. Needed a midfielder, if not two, but the options out there are relatively limited.

Arsenal - :lol::lol: All I'll say.

Any others?

As usual, you're over-rating City's players and under-rating ours.

I think Phil Jones could well end up the best signing of this summer. Might take another few years for it to sink in just how good he is but he looks like a really special talent.

I also think Ashley Young has been more influential than Aguero and Nasri so far this season.

Think Barca has a good window, getting the players they did for the prices they did.

City had a great window. They have defiantly made themselves title contenders.

We has a good window, signed two young players with huge amounts of potential, but i think we really missed out on a midfielder.

Yeah, after 3 PL games. Nasri played 1, Aguero hasn't really played enough either.

Aguero is completely world class and everyone on this board was crying out for Nasri, so hardly overrated.

But yeah, Jones is an epic signing, De Gea will prove to be a great one, and Young is proving how well he can slot in too.

I've never seen the press rush so quickly to praise a player as they collectively did with Aguero after one game. They universally hailed him as the 'Cantona-style' signing, with the flair and leadership to make the difference and win them their first title.

They should all wait and judge him over the season.

Another thing that seems to go regularly under appreciated is the swiftness with which we concluded our business - Young and Jones are already looking well integrated and flying, hopefully De Gea can join too.

Contrast that to Arsenal's business, and the way other deals were being done at the very last minute, with players running out of taxis into clubs to complete paperwork in time. Our way was far better - allowed for proper pre-seasons and means it feels like these guys have been around a long time already.

This was mentioned loads of times on the BBC coverage of deadline day.

City and Barca, then us

We're coming from a higher starting standard than City who have taken their team up a level, whilst Barca have managed to improve an already impressive team. I'd say we're maintaining our standard, but considering what we lost in the Summer, that too is impressive

Aston Villa have had a decent summer bringing in good players in Given, Hutton & N'Zogbia.

I was referring to a specific post in which he was rated "excellent" and all our signings as merely "good"

I thought Nasri would be a great signing for us but, based on the season so far, I think Young has been an absolutely fantastic signing and should be recognised as such.

That's without even getting into Welbeck and Cleverley returning from loan spells looking like they already belong at the highest level.

City have had the best summer.

I "doubted" their squad a few weeks back as I wasn't certain they'd get Nasri and I was sure they'd lose Tevez, how wrong I was.

Aston Villa have had a decent summer bringing in good players in Given, Hutton & N'Zogbia.

Offset by losing Young and Downing though, so overall they've weakened so had a bad summer.

Stoke and Wolves have done good business and should improve accordingly. Further afield, Roma have done some good business with Lamela, Pjanic, and Heinze arriving and obviously Barca have gone up another notch with the additions of Fabregas and Sanchez and the retention of Thiago on a new contract.

On paper, Barca and City. However, I will judge City's player after Christmas, as for Barca, I dont think the 2 new signings will make such a big impact or get that many games

...

they lost Friedel, Downing and Young.

I'd say that makes them weaker if anything.

I'm going on players brought in

Saying that I think Given is about the same as Friedel & N'Zogbia is about the same as Downing in terms of quality. When you weight it up like that they have only lost Young's quality.

In terms of big named, uberhyped players it would have to be Barca, then City. Although, I'm convinced Fergie's summer signings will end up being more successsful in the long run. I'm chuffed with Jones, De Gea, and Young, complimented by the emergence of Cleverly, Welbeck, and possibly another youth player. Wouldn't trade that for anything.

Yeah that's fair enough, I just don't think people are overrating Aguero or Nasri, they're both great signings. Though obviously you could pick a shitload of players signed by City in recent years that have been ridiculous.

I think we've made 3 excellent signings, despite not looking all that tantalizing when you see the names of them, but I would say City have had a better Summer in terms of strengthening their squad, mainly cause we missed out on getting the one thing we all wanted.

So many player start off flying and then fade. While we all know how good he is there he still hasn't played a full brutal season in the Premier League. On a side note, Tevez is still better than him.

Having said that, Barcelona and City both had brilliant transfer window signings and top the list along with us. I'm not going to say who did better than who. Barca bought two classy players good prices. City did well with Nasri and Aguero while their other signings were squad additions. United brought in two player that have a bright, bright future. Jones will be United captain one day, I'm sure of it. De Gea will prove to be great in my opinion. Young is a great signing, fits United perfectly and will be our biggest impact signing. He's already shown that he has goals, assists, pace and his work rate is fantastic.

Nah Friedel is a better keeper than Given, and Young is a very big player to lose, as we've seen.

Bollocks he is.

I'm glad they've held onto Tevez. Looking forward to him throwing his toys out the pram yet again. For all the superstars on their books they've got an inordinate amount of self-absorbed prima donnas. Can't be too long before their dressing room start to turn on each other.

I forgot Jenas

He should do well for the Villa this season

I think all of the top 4 improved well, not sure who I'd class as the best right now, maybe Liverpool, but they've looked like a completely fresh side since Kenny took over rather than who they've signed. So in order for now probably Liverpool-Man Utd-City-Chelsea-Spurs------------Arsenal for the top 6.

Stoke did well, hump a lump team and everything, but they gave themselves some nice depth.

Just feck Barcelona.

Us. We bought players for a good price. It was good football business. Barca and city will just buy players no matter of what cost.

Barca signed 2 of the world's best footballers for decent money. What they paid for those 2 was fantastic business.

The feck what exactly? Are we simply not allowed to praise City or Liverpool in the slightest in your mind?

Liverpool have done some terrific business thanks to Chelsea this year.

Bollocks he is.

That's my opinion. You disagree, that's fair. Maybe he'll show me that he's better but he hasn't done so yet and I've seen him play plenty. He is however probably a much, much better character to have around the team.

Poor Everton fans on deadline day  Got ecstatic that they got linked with, and signed 2 players IN THE ONE DAY! Then hours later they flog Arteta. Amazing what Moyes has done really for 50p a week.

For best transfers, City on paper is impressive. But looking to the future, we have signed well in 2011. Jones, Young, Smalling, De Gea, Lindegaard (sp?) we done very well. Our defence is frightening no matter who plays. Since rio, Vida and Rafeal got injured, everyone still was moaning about centre mid, shows how lucky we are in all other positions :D

Stoke will be interesting aswell. Nice balance they brought in. Others to watch are Newcastle, and for signing about 40 players QPR.

Sunderland always have heaps of activity, so not interested in them :D

.

Spending £55m on Carroll and Henderson is a bit dodgy in my opinion.

They've spent a shit-load of money on not terribly impressive players and sold their best central midfielder from last season. Admittedly, the only full Liverpool game I watched was the Arsenal match but they were incredibly pedestrian in that match, until Mereiles came off the bench.

I think Moyes did well to recover as well as he did on deadline day. If they'd not bought anyone in I think losing Arteta could have been a fatal blow.

I still think he's got his hands full sorting out Drenthe who looks a real muppet to me but Moyes is good at handling situations like that. That Argentinian striker looks a real punt - no idea which way that one will go.

Signing the best player and having the best window are 2 different things entirely.

I think United have made 2 very good signings in Young and Jones. I imagine De Gea will also turn out to be a good signing.

City have signed 2 great players in Aquero and Nasri, while holdign onto Tevez.

But with my rose tinted specs on I think Liverpool have had the best window. When you consider not being in the CL spots, the streamlining which has taken place has been nothing short of miraculous. While there will be doubts from some non-Liverpool fans over Adam (for £7m it's a no brainer) and Henderson (@ £13.5m certainly more of a risk), Enrique & Downing are 2 players who will greatly improve the team. While individually they may not be "Aquero", their partnership on the left and the benefits they bring to the team as a whole will be invaluable. Like Jones, Coates could turn out to be a star, and again for £7m not much of a risk. Bellamy replacing Ngog as 3rd/4th choice forward or winger is a huge step up too IMO.

The fact that Spurs haven't improved their team at all in an added bonus.

I think we've bought really well. All signings will fit in and be huge players for us, Young is an instant hit and fits in so well with our newfound style of play.

Another point is that for all the talk of our CM being weak, last year only Carrick and Giggs performed in CM. This season we look stronger, actually.

Cleverley and Anderson has started the season on fire, Carrick will kick on and possibly needs a kick up his arse in the shape of our Tom, Giggs is still going strong, and Fletcher will heal from the virus and hopefully return to form. Add to that Gibson is still in the squad, Pogba might get a Carling Cup run-out or two, and I think it looks better in CM than people would have you believe.

Park and Jones can play there as well.

I think we've done really well, and we will turn out to have done the best business when all is counted.

Barcelona has added riches to their flooded squad, great players though obviously. Arsenal has decimated their philosophy and panicked. Liverpool have added one or two decent players and a lot of dross. Chelsea is hard to read, but they need time to gel either way, Mata is a great player.

I think they did OK actually, but I rate Adam, Downing and Enrique higher than I suspect you do. I also rate Bellamy too.

Interesting that Liverpool were kind of forgotten about here - they've done far better than Villa!

When Liverpool get everyone fit and in the team I think they'll spring some serious surprises this year - they've got options too.

QPR also did better than feared in the end but who does everyone think had the worst window? Arsenal? Newcastle?

I too can see Enrique-Downing being a productive partnership down the left for Liverpool but Enrique aside(who was good value at £5m), I can't help but think you've overpaid vastly for the players you've bought. Transfers aren't just measured in terms of how good the player is or whether he's a success, value for money has to be taken into account aswell and apart from Enrique and possibly Adam(I say possibly because I don't think you needed him tbh), I don't see Liverpool getting value for money from their purchases and they'll be lucky to recoup the fees they've paid from any possible future sales.

It would have been if we did.

Our best CM last season was Lucas. No competition. Meireles had a purple patch where he played further forward. I would have liked to have kept him as a squad player but he wouldn't have played a lot as Kenny has other ideas. The Arsenal game certainly changed when Meireles came off the bench but that might have had somethign to do with Suarez coming on with him.

Should your pedestrian 75 minutes against West Brom be a baromoter of your season going forward?

De Gea, Jones and Young are 3 extremely good signings IMO- Both in terms of quality and needs. Especially on the basis of the latter, I would argue that we have done very well in this transferwindow.

These players seem also to have personalities that allow themselves to be influenced and directed by the clubs social structures etc, which I think is very important in terms of morale and cohesion among the players. By signing personalities such as Aguero, Nasri and .........Sneijder I think maybe this could represent a source of uncertainty.

I believe that Manchester United (teambuilding), Stoke (improved quality) and Manchester City (more starplayers) will emerge as the winners of this transfer window!
