So Brad has gone and the race is on to take his place!

It's not just a simple infraction, he's been warned time and time again since I used to bounce him out, but he never took any notice. The admin and mods really don't need the hassle of someone like him, it's too much work, and they give their free time to this place.

Is it so much to ask for someone to behave in a reasonable manner?

especially for people who are not paid...

Being banned from a web forum is insignificant in the greater scheme of things. Everyone moves on in their own direction and life goes on, usually with yet more interesting characters emerging. Hell, we've lost Davo and are still chugging along.

This line of reasoning is odd, considering the time we all spend on here, and it's definitely a loss for Brad to no longer be here. Yes he ruffled feathers with his questioning of the moderation and I'm sure that frustrated you guys but it's not like he was an abusive guy who did nothing but wind people up and cause shit.

He contributed to every section of the forum and regularly as well, and he really knows his stuff about football as much as anybody else here. It's a shame he won't be able to continue posting.

I like Brad but he brought it on himself.

What about the time the admin and moderators spend keeping the place clean. Not for enjoyment of fannying about? When you become and admin especially, you end up engaging far less with the forum, so the enoyment goes out of it, because you are spending too much time mopping up rather than engaging with the forum in the way you wanted to when you first joined.

Some of you are a load of selfish cnuts!

..actually not understanding what moderation means more like i think.

That may be, but it's still a shame it's come to this and he'll be missed.

I fail to understand how sticking up for another poster makes someone selfish, Weaste. It's not like we're arguing our own case here.

I liked Brad, his posts in the footy forums were definitely my favourite to read. But saying that, his dickery around in the general/admin forum was OTT and can see why

sadface nonetheless.

Most people who spend a lot of time here do so compulsively because they're internet addicts, naturally cloaked under the facade of football chat. We've had posters ask for self-imposed temp bans who then in the middle of those temp bans went through extraordinary measures to try and come back. Posting on web forums is addictive and a vast majority of posters who spend considerable time here don't have the will power not to. But still, at the end of the day, being banned from a web forum isn't the end of the world.

Serious fecking business eh Doc.

No, but I'm pretty sure I recall you and me agreeing that he did bring this sort of thing on himself. Brad got more chances than anyone to change the way he acted sometimes, probably more than anyone in the history of forums.

Here comes another 10 page Brad thread. He is gone move on with your lives. I know I have.

I'm not really sure what any of that had to do with my point, but ok.

Sticking up for what? You joined in 2009, you don't have a clue what an arsehole he's been over 5 years or so, warned on multiple occasions, stuck back in the newbie, banned for being a prick (I did those things to him and I've not been an admin for almost 4 years). He never once took the hint, so I don't see what traits he has that needs sticking up for!

Of course he will, Brad had some great attributes as a poster.

Conversely he seemed to hold a lot of grudges that acted to his detriment.

Is pointing out that he's a good lad and that the majority of his posts were good and that generally speaking he will be missed really that offensive to you?

What does the fact that I only joined in 2009 have to do with it? Does my only having been around for 2 years mean I'm not entitled to an opinion on posters who have been around since before me?

That's no secret, we all know what Brad is like, but you take the good with the bad don't you., and the good far outshone the bad. This is a piss poor decision and you know it Doc.

To be fair, the part of my post that you eliminated from the quote is just as apt.

Slabber held grudges for very different reasons I feel. He just went on a power trip, and lost and is now swimming in a sewer of shit. That bloke was immensely funny at times, great to talk to and banter with, but then had this losing it trait where he would just blow up and chuck a hissy fit. I'm actually quite sure that it was Plech's second account.

It was the right decision. As mentioned earlier, his absence was hardly noticed.

I think it was a matter of one too many second chances in the end, Nomers. As was mentioned before, we can't have one rule for Brad and one for everyone else.

The decision was achieved more democratically than any I've seen here before.

Or perhaps people were respectfully waiting for the decision on his return as was outlined by the powers that be in the thread that was locked, but if we were aware that it was being swept under the carpet it probably would have been raised earlier.

:( This is a very sad day.

I always had plenty of respect for Brad and his posts. He passionately lives football and Man Utd. That was immediately made clear to everyone who challenged him on here. I think it's such a shame it's come to this. He had a very strong personality and that usually meant there would be a difference of opinion once in a while. Even though some people advised him to let things go, he wouldn't. That's just the type of person he is. When he gets stuck in to something (or someone), he goes hard and that's not always a bad quality to have.

The Caf has lost one of it's greatest ever posters IMO.

Why would they. Its a Modmin call. Someone asked the question earlier in the thread and I transparently gave the answer. Had no one asked, there would've been no answer. We're in no way obliged to preemptively inform anyone about moderation issues.

Get a grip.

Is he dead then?

I bet if Liverpool are at the top of the league come Christmas, he'll reappear. Unless he's dead that it. Or was he you?

I gather he finally gave up his CAF addiction and is scared to post again out of fear that he'll be hooked again. I wouldn't put it past him though if the dippers were to miraculously win a major cup (next year of course).
