Inter sporting director Marco Branca to travel to England to open talks with Manchester United about Wesley Sneijder - report

The Nerazzurri are reportedly ready to cash in on the Netherlands international and are willing to open negotiations with the English giants in the winter trade period.

Inter appear to be ready to sell star player Wesley Sneijder in the January transfer window if a big money offer comes along.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that sporting director Marco Branca is set to travel to England in the upcoming days in order to open talks with Manchester United about a potential transfer.

The Netherlands midfielder appeared to be close to joining the Europa League hopefuls in the summer transfer window, but the deal eventually fell through due to unknown reasons.

United, however, are still keen on Sneijder as manager Sir Alex Ferguson is looking to add more creativity to his midfield, and Inter are ready to open talks with the Premier League champions.

However, it is questionable whether a deal can be done this winter as United seem reluctant to spend big at the midway stage of the season, and Sneijder will not be available on the cheap.

Additionally, the former Ajax and Real Madrid star's wage demands could prove to be a problem for the Old Trafford side.

Sneijder has a contract with Inter until the summer of 2015.

Hasn't he only played 7 games this year? Only one of them he completed the 90?

 bad times

I'm so glad we didn't get Sneijder in the summer, he looks like he's got one of those reoccurin injury diseases
20/11/2011-10/1/2012: right leg rectus femoris muscle strain
21/9/2011-17/10/2011: adductor strain
30/3/2011-10/5/2011: calf strain
17/2/2011-23/2/2011: right adductor muscle fatigue
19/12/2010-31/1/2011: left leg biceps femoris muscle strain

If we signed him now he'll probably end up with all our other casualties.

The Italian side’s sporting director, Marco Branca, reportedly travelled to England this week for talks with the title holders over the Netherlands international, who had previously insisted he would stay at San Siro.

“If I must give a percentage for it, I think I am 90 per cent certain I will stay [until at least the summer],” Sneijder told Voetbal International.

“I enjoy myself here at the moment and at this point I don't have anything to choose from.

“I don't say that I am 100% certain because something unexpected can always happen.”

Sneijder had been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford throughout last summer’s transfer window but the deal collapsed for reasons unknown.

In some corner of the world, wr8 is ***ping.

Looking at that, the only time recently he hasn't been injured is the close season when he was on holiday.

Looking at the list, he looks more injury prone than Van der Vaart.

Neiether. We need the next Keane/Vieira.

We have M'villa and Martinez to chose from. Vidal and Marchisio wont leave Juve any time soon and De Rossi is a bit old.

I'm with the chief on this one, unfortuanetly i have a suspicioon that Mvilla is Madrid bound. Anyway here some bollocks for everyone
Man Utd out to beat Chelsea FC in race to sign Luka Modric - report

Manchester United are reportedly preparing to launch a summer bid to sign Tottenham playmaker Luka Modric.

Modric was linked with both United and Chelsea for much of 2011, with the latter believed to be considering a fresh bid for the 26-year-old this month after failing with a £40million bid last summer.

But Tottenham continue to insist that the Croatia international is not for sale, making a summer move much more likely than a January one, and according to the Mail on Sunday, the midfielder is the player United want to sign to convince striker Wayne Rooney they are going to remain a major force.

Rooney has in recent days been linked with a move away from Old Trafford, although speaking after Sunday's 3-2 win over Manchester City in the FA Cup, he insisted he had no plans to leave the club (see below).

According to Sunday's report, Rooney is said to be keen to see United bring in more big name signings, and the signing of Modric would be a statement of intent for both the striker and the club's rivals in the Premiership.

A January move for Modric or indeed any other long-term target such as Wesley Sneijder now looks unlikely after Paul Scholes announced his return from retirement, with the former England midfielder agreeing to come back until the end of the season.

But Ferguson will almost certainly look to bring in at least one top midfielder during the summer as he looks to strengthen for next season's campaign, where a major priority will be ensuring the club don't crash out of the Champions League at the group phase.

Modric last week played down speculation linking him with a move away from White Hart Lane, telling Sportske Novosti: "All this talk is just in the press - I don't know anything about any of these supposed offers.

"Given the current situation, and particularly given the fact I don't want a repeat of what I went through during the summer transfer window, I can say with almost 100% certainty that I'll be staying at Tottenham until the end of the season.

"I would always say that, theoretically, there is a small chance I could leave, if the club receive a suitable offer and it's one I wouldn't want to turn down, but the reality is that I expect to stay at Spurs until June, and then we will see."

However, he refused to completely rule out a move away from White Hart Lane, adding: "Everything is possible, but it's not something I'm concerning myself with.

"So long as I am fit and playing well, I'm happy just to see what happens.

"If I stay at Tottenham, nothing will change. I will give my all in every game."

Doubt we'll be able to get Modric if Spurs qualify for the UCL. Which is very likely.

But he's the one that I've always wanted for our midfield.

Everyone has a price.
Not sure we'll be willing to meet it tho.

Modric would be a cracking aquisition Probably more so over sneijder gonna be a hefty price tag though feckin shame we might miss out on such a talented little fella due to such shite

We will never ever even attempt to meet spurs' price tag.

40m is a fair price tbf

Mail on Sunday is running with a story about us making a £50m bid for him in the summer.

£50m is a little steep...

There are only a couple of clubs who could spend that kind of money - we are not one of them

I bet the results of the poll would be totally different now. It seems that Sneijder is just a flashy injury prone player with 1 great season.

Fergie leaking it out through Cass to turn Modric's head and unsettle him in a bid to derail Spurs' title challenge?

There are some signs of unrest with Sneijder at Inter. He was substituted in the 46th/47th minute the other day and has since come out publicly and criticised the decision saying he wasn't injured, feels it was unnecessary and will want to clarify it with the coach.

sneijder time has passed, he rejected us in the summer.

Not sure I want someone like that at the club. Someone who goes public against the manager's decision.

I would literally *** the night away.

Faaaap, faaaaap the night away.

Honestly, I'd rather have Modric and voted for that. But, still. A midfield signing would be nice.

As much as I'd like us to sign a midfielder, I don't want Sneijder. He is too expensive, injury prone and not the type of midfielder we need (I'm still not convinced he can play 4-4-2). Would prefer us signing Modric or a similar type of player.
