I have a feeling Modric might be coming but Fergie might go for youth and go for someone like Rodwell instead.
But maybe he is thinking of something like this as his future midfield 3
-----------Fletcher/Rodwell-------------
--Modric/Carrick----Pogba

Both would be a good fit for United however I think Modric is more likely as I can't see Inter selling their star player to a CL rival.

Where the feck is a 26 year old Verón when you actually need one?

Lazio needed to sell Veron at the time. Inter don't have to sell.

I would prefer Modric as he is similar to Scholes and has the PL experience

He'd undoubtedly improve us - creates space for himself well, very good passer with great technique and would function well in a midfield 3 or a 2. Whether he'd be worth the amount we'd have to pay is another matter.

Modric.

Prem proven and more of an all-round midfield player. I believe we'd have more flexibility in our tactical approach with Modric than Sneijder. Certain games, we could really pack the midfield out and even play Modric from a left sided position. He's also a very good ball carrier and a surprising turn of pace.

Sneijder, proven at a higher level more consistently than Modric. Also has bags more goals in him, freekicks, corners, lethal shot. Creativity in bags.

Sneijder also doesn't shy from a fight.

I don't really see the Modric and Scholes comparison, Modric is a good player and finds space well, but he is more of a ball carrier than a tempo dictating CM with an inventive range of passing.

Sneijder is closer to Scholes in style and I think he would find it easier in a midfield 2 than many think, but I do wonder if his temperament would be a fit here.

Personally I agree with Ekeke on Banega, and another I think would be a great option despite his age, is Mario Goetze.

With Scholes retiring we need more than one central midfielder. Both Sneijder and Modric are good players but who really knows if they are the right choices? Personally I like Schewiestiger, but he's likely not available. Others talk about Pastore and Hamsik and maybe we are interesting in Young because he could be moved inside. Nasri is another player who looks good when he is asked to play inside and Arsenal seem to be having trouble getting him to sign a new contract.

United also need a DM, someone like Yvan M'Vila or Daniele De Rossi, because we have really missed Hargreaves the last year or so. But when you add David de Gea and Raphael Varane, that's five players and well over a £100m. I can't see that happening even if rumours of a clean out are true.

Sneijder and Modric are available at the right price, that's true but we can't afford them both. You're talking here about at least 60m. One shouldn't forget their salaries, their signing on fee AND the fact that we need to bring in a new keeper. Its nearly as realistic as getting Iniesta or Xavi.

WOW

Who told you that, i havent heard? Excellent news. They'll fit in lovely

Its probably too complicated and expensive to get Sniejder and you would have to wonder if he would leave us exposed in midfield if he always joins in the attack as he likes to do. Modric definitely seems to be more of a player that would suit us even though I think Sneijder is a better more dangerous player. A goal scoring version of Modric would be nice!!

Can the people who've picked Sneijder show me how we'd line up with him in the team?

--------------De Gea------------
Rafael--Vidic---Ferdinand---Evra
--------Carrick-Anderson--------
Valencia----Sneijder-----Nani
------------Rooney---------------

I don't get where the 'Sneijder can't play in a midfield two' is coming from. I think we all can agree that overall, Sneijder is the better player, hence more likely to adapt to knew positions.

----------------------De Gea?----------------
Rafael--------Ferdinand-------Vidic-------Evra
Valencia-------Sneijder------Fletcher-----Giggs
---------------Rooney------Welbeck-----------

Giggs/Park will tuck in and cover for a thrusting Sneijder, why Welbeck you may ask? Because I feel the side is more balanced given the signing of Sneijder.

So no Hernandez?

See my edit, the main issue is that we need an attacking threat from central midfield. I don't see how Modric gives us that, I wouldn't look to sign a Scholes-type of player, sitting deep spraying passes, we need an agile offensive centre mid who can penetrate tight defences with short an intelligent passes.

I didn't really pick Sneijder, but I have heard that he could be used similar to how Spurs use Van der Vaart and play just behind the lone striker (Rooney). So Hernandez would have to be used as a impact sub most of the time.

If that's the case Modric maybe a better option.

This.

I wonder if the problem with Sneijder is going to be wages? Anyone know what he is on at Inter and what United will have to offer to entice him here? When you take into account the tax rate and the weak pound and whether the cost of living is higher in Manchester than Milan, he maybe looking for a serious hike in what he is getting at Milan.

We're getting TWO big signings this summer?. Is it the cynic in me or is that just a bit unbelievable?.

We've always prided ourselves on developing players rather than buying finished products, it also makes more sense financially. A 20-22 year old player who has potential to be world class is who we'll be getting along with a big signing to satisfy the signings.

Which is the reason why for some reason Yann M'vila seems to be the type of player we're going to buy.

Clubs to big to rely on a 22 year old to fill boots like Scholes. Ask Anderson..

Sorry....

I'd say shit loads of steroids like the rest of Italian football..

This was the main investigation that was dropped during the match-fixing scandal..
