I admire Modric for the way he has put his head down this season and got on with it; seems like a good attitude

modric would be a much better fit for us and closer to what we need.

And it all starts again in the summer.
Sneijder was tempted to move | Football News | Sky Sports
''The fact they decided to hold onto Modric against what everyone thought was a big Chelsea bid swung the players around,'' said Ferguson.
I still can't believe how many people were blind and went for Sneijder just because it seemed like we wanted him. quality>hype.

Surely we should be able to get Modric this summer.
Logic suggests it's possible but we'll probably not as it will not fit the value policy
He did worse. He stopped to quarrel as the move was going onYes, he didn't panic at all even when we had that throw-in near the corner flag.
This time last year Sneijder did seem the obvious choice. I voted for him on this poll.
But a year is a long time sometimes in football. It would appear we have dodged a massive bullett and Modric would certainly be my choice now
i'd like both!
i think Modric would be ideal in helping to transistion our style of play into a quicker short passing style but Sneijder would probably bring far more goals to the party which is always nice and not something we have a lot of from CM at the moment
if i had to pick one it'd be Modric
I've always been firmly in the Modric camp but I think now more than ever he is the perfect player for us.
He can play in a CM pairing, which would inject some much needed quality to our midfield.
He can play in the hole, behind the striker, providing cover for Rooney, who we currently are over dependant on.
He can play out wide if needed, giving us another option on the wings.
Age wise he is what, 26? Pretty much ideal, just coming into his prime but old enough that he is unlikely to make another major move in his career, and not so young that he would completely block the progress of our youngsters like Cleverley.
The perfect summer for me would involve us getting Modric, and then a defensive midfielder as cover for Carrick - Martinez has always been a good shout there and the Bilbao game showed it.
Do you really class Sneijder as a CM though? In the formation we play - essentially 4411 - Sneijders role is surely the Rooney role behind the other striker, as opposed to one of the deeper lying CMs. And we have hardly lacked goals from Rooney!
What he's shown this year is what he'd shown previously, though. He needs the team to be built around him to excel, he has injury issues, he has a big ego and it was questionable whether the form he was showing was going to last as he'd never shown it before. None of which applied to Modric.
After the performances in Europe recently I'd say changing the formation wouldn't be too bad an idea. Broadly speaking, if we play 4-3-3 with Rooney up-top we have 10 players contributing to the build-up, with 4-4-1-1 we only have 9, because Welbeck and moreso Hernandez barely contribute other than goals.
Do you even see how Welbeck plays?
His workrate is phenomenal, he constantly gets into good positions and his passing is also quite good.
You rarely see him dropping back though, do you? He contributes more than Chicharito, certainly, but not in the same bracket as Rooney.
