Sneijder or Arteta

Sneijder raped the world champions last night.

Never seen Arteta put in as good a performance as that.
Because he has never had the opportunity to perform on such a stage yet. The day he does, he will cease to be underrated. Just like yesterday finally banished the under rating of Wesley for good. Added to his REAL move and performance of course. He used to be called by some "a nothing player".

The muppet in wants to know; if Ron's off to Real, should we make Sneijder part of the deal and once and for all end our quest for a heir to Paul's throne? He's a useful winger too, either side. Or is he too light weight and we have Anderson and Rodrigo as our future midfield dynamos anyhow?

 Sneijder or Arteta.

Sneijder is a fair bit younger and is a better all round player. Arteta has only really excelled at Everton because he is their only creative talent, Sneijder excels even when he is one of many in Holland and Real.

They'd never let Ramos go, but Sneijder might be another matter. Let's not forget we're holding the cards here and Real are pretty desperate to get Ron and not only for footballing reasons. This has to hurt for them one way or the other, including Sneijder for 30 million would hurt I reckon.

Hang on - £30m is a lot - we should think carefully who we spunk that on. Sneijder is excellent, but he's not the sort of player we're most in need of. You could probably get Ronaldinho and Silva for not much more than that, for example.

If we do have to sell Ronaldo (don't think it will happen personally), we should make them hand over obscene cash and then use it to buy who we want, not piss about with player exchanges.

Sneijder is a far far far superior player to Arteta. Having seen Arteta sinse his rangers days he has never really impressed me. Look at how he fared in Spain his home country and how he plays in europe for Everton. Not that he doesnt have technical ability but it doesnt transfer well outside of the prem. I would have said the same years ago. Sneijder just turned 23/24? he is somewhat inconsistent at times but he is a terrific footballer as he proved against the World Champions. Van Der Vaart was also really very exellent in that game.

Both these dutch midfielders are superior to Arteta who looks good for everton but if he ever attempts to step up will be catagorically found out. I would take Sneijder or Van Der Vaart to old trafford in a heart beat. Both can do it all and would be super replacements for the likes of Scholes.

Arteta is a nothing player.

Very harsh outside of the top 4 he's easily one of the best play makers in the premiership. I remember threads popping up with best player outside of the top four etc and Arteta was usually mentioned, not to say he is but he is a very talented player still... regardless of comparisons to Sneijder.

I rate Xavi ahead of Iniesta. As I would Sneijder.

Don't agree with any of that at all but that's your opinion.

But Xavi is at the peak of his career, it seems likely that Iniesta will surpass him when he peaks. Although he's more like Deco really.

To be fair, I don't even remember starting this thread. :nervous:

Sneijder still had a lot to prove last season, whilst Arteta showed that he could deliver the goods in the Premiership.

But Iniesta isn´t better now than Xavi was at his age.

That's difficult to make the comparison in all honesty. Xavi has evolved a lot as a player from what he used to be, but Iniesta wins it for me because he's much more adaptable. Xavi is the better passer though, and better at shooting.

Actually, scratch that, Iniesta is definitely better than Xavi at the age of 22.

Sneijder is the dog's bollocks. Great player who'll only improve with time.

Would love him at United.

Never gonna happen. We can start a rumour that we want him in any Ronaldo offer they would think. They will tell us to feck off and we will tell them "Hey that's exactly what we were trying to tell you when you were wanting a transfer for the best player in the world".

No we're are not. No way in hell Sneijder is more technically gifted. He is just way better at shooting and free kicks. The two most underated midfielders in Europe imo.

I want both though. You can only want one if you like. You dig?:D

Chief, tell me, in what aspects of the game does Arteta beat Sneijder in?

From what I have seen from Sneijder so far, he would be the perfect replacement for when Scholes decided to hang up his boots.

A midfield including Anderson and Sneijder at the peak of their powers could potentially be devestating, even if it was a midfield three with someone more defensive behind them.

Seeing as they are completely different players, I wholeheartedly agree.

Manchester United are ready to make an audacious swoop for Mikel Arteta.

The classy Everton midfielder is currently involved in contract talks with his Merseyside club, but has so far yet to make any progress in negotiations.

And now Old Trafford boss Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to test the water with an inquiry to see if his friend David Moyes would be willing to sell.

Arteta still has two years left on his current Goodison deal, but progress in negotiations has been slow, and the Spaniard is aware of other interest from the likes of United, Arsenal and Manchester City.

He is loyal to Everton and has a good relationship with boss Moyes, but at 28 he would like the chance to play in the Champions League and push his international claims.

United boss Fergie holds too much respect for his Everton counterpart Moyes and would never try to steal the player away.

But if Everton do decide that they can’t persuade the midfielder to commit his long-term future then they would be interested, especially if the price was right at about £10million.

Arsenal already see Arteta as a possible replacement should Cesc Fabregas leave, and City have made no admiration for the midfielder.

Everton don’t want to sell and still believe the Spaniard will sign a new deal, and officials at Goodison would be massively reluctant to do any business with City after the bad taste left by Joleon Lescott’s move to Eastlands last summer

Well if the choice is still Arteta or Snjeider then the choice should be the latter everytime IMO.

Personally I don't think Arteta is the kind of player who would go in and improve our first 11.

I think him (Arteta) and Joe cole would be good business. Might not please people but both have quality, both are in their prime and at good age to not block the kids we have coming through. I think they would improve our squad and cost wise I imagine it'd be appealing. I mean when you think Giggs and scholes are about 6 give or take years older - I think it'd be a good move by us.

Haha, Just stumbled across this Post. Amazing that majority on here back in 2007 thought Arteta was the better player.

I would not say no to Arteta as an affordable stop gap squad player for a couple of years until Anderson, Morrison and Pogba hopefully step up. Last summer Arteta was all the hype with a 20 Million bid from City being turned down and everything if I can remember

Is and always was a ludicrous comparison.
