Red Hand Devil
Plan M ish
He's scored a few screamers but the other 89 mins 50 secs of most of his games is pony.
"Pony" - gonna start using that term

I am huh? Ive watched football all my life and coached it for 15 years I know when a player is cruising. He doesnt get the production ne should from that position nor does he beat his marker enough
and here.....
What an utterly bizarre choice of goal to try and blame Young for
It was an obvious tongue in cheek comment. The winking dude normally gives that away. I think on the matter of Young you are very very blinkered though. I've played football all my life and I've done some coaching badges too.
He beats his man constantly too btw, sadly what he does then is the problem.
I don't blame a lot of you, so used to mediocrity from the wide areas, that 18 months of stinking the place up and then a few long range shots against cannon fodder in the space of a few weeks, now equate to what you see as a good performing winger.
It's like having sex with Margot Robbie for twenty years and then having no sex for four years and then suddenly you have sex with Gail Platt for Corrie and think it's something....

Both examples were pathetic.
Going to have to agree to disagree. I like consistant production out of my wingers call me old fashioned.
I'm not blaming him for the goal or the city goal, but it's getting a bit lazy saying he "gets back and defends" he picks and chooses when he gets back and defends, it's not part of his package as people like to pretend it is.. That first Chelsea goal came from the right hand side, was Young anywhere to be seen helping out Evra? Nope.
Navas ran riot down our left hand side earlier in the season and Young just stood in this box with his back hunched and hands on hips, doing feck all.
And how many times have we seen Evra exposed one on one against wingers, mainly because Ashley Young continually makes a piss poor attempt at defensively assisting his full back.
You're right too!
I couldn't even bring myself to watch the clip at first because I didn't want to watch anything from that game, but fecking hell I just forced myself and it's mind-boggling to blame Young for that goal
Mate, come on now. Seriously. Just...no.
Everything is relative at the moment, Ekeke. We're uniformly shit of late. Young continues to receive an inordinate amount of abuse. I don't think it's warrented. Comparing his efforts to what our wide men should be producing seems a little irrelevant. We are where we are and he's been positive and productive when he's got his chances. A nod to that effect from the Caf is all I was calling for.
If he can maintain his recent form for a consistent amount of time he'd be fine as a squad player. As long as Moyes doesn't think he's ever going to be good enough to he a starting regular, which I don't think he does...The thing with Young is that he is nowhere near as bad as some on here would make you believe.
He is a more than useful addition to the squad.
If Young actually changed his name via deed poll to Smashley Young he'd be the first name on my team sheet every week.

I agree that he shouldn't be a regular starter, but i think some on here are far too harsh on him. Could be the diving.
The being invisible for 8 performances out of 10 might have something to do with it too
It's from cockney rhyming slang. Pony and trap = crap"Pony" - gonna start using that term
Well, its clear what your view is, i will stand by mine that he is more than a decent addition to the squad.
None of our wingers have been consistent for a while now.
But Young is consistant. Consistanly average, with one or two moments like his quality goal last night each half a season.
No he wasn't. He was very good last night.Good cross, brilliant goal. Other than that, he was rather dire
Makes it even more of a shame in my opinion, due to the fact he's clearly got the ability.

I could be wrong, but I always think about him as the sort of player who is on such high wages that the teams who would actually be interested in him wouldn't be able to afford him without it being a relatively low fee/there being some contribution or concession on wages. One more thing - Young is steering himself towards good form and scoring goals again. There's another way to look at it. Is Young ever going to be more valuable than now and get us more of the money we paid for him? No. Now would be the right time for him to get a decent move to the teams just below us in the league. A Newcastle, Southampton, Swansea or... Villa and have a good final stage to his career
