Sky: Spurs appeal to FA to award the second goal against Stoke City to Harry Kane | Spurs win appeal

Just had a pop in the first Spurs forum Google pulled up, called thefightingcock, and the small timers are actually unanimously in support of this and berating anyone in their support who finds it pathetic. Sums them up really.

Oh Jesus. It's sad that a little girl now has to die over something so insignificant.

I don't think is a bad thing. Harry Kane could be the third player of winning for third year in a row after Shearer and Henry. Is normal that he wants the Golden Boot of PL.

He actually swore on his daughter's life that he got a touch. The bloke is seriously obsessed.

Tbh I don’t see anything wrong with this as long as he really touched the ball. If he didn’t touch the ball then he’s a cnut who did something really inappropriate. But if he did though, you can see that he’s really hungry for goals and he has every right to put everything into claiming the goal, because it’s actually his goal.

The whole thing is pathetic. Let it go, man.

I don’t care if they give him the goal or not, but fantasy football better not change their points. They have written in the rules that scores don’t change 1 hour after the end of a game.
Damn, now I am being even more pathetic and petty than Spurs and Kane :(
Mate, Kane was triple captain for me. :(

That's just pathetic. The tweets, the swearing, the appeal, everything. It's a team sport, you moron.

Just imagine the reaction if Real did this for Ronaldo
It would just as pathetic and would get the same mocking reaction.

That is so pathetic, to swear on his daughters life is even worse If I was his baby's mother I would have slapped him in the face.

I liked Kane. Seemed like a down to earth, nice bloke who is also one of the best strikers in the world.

This really ruined my impression of him. Just how obsessed do you have to be with winning the Golden Boot that you spout this to the public? Why couldn't he just swear on his own life? Why the hell would anyone mention their own daughter's life in this way??? I mean, bloody hell. What was he thinking?!?

I can't even see Ronaldo ever saying this and I know that guy really wants his goals.

Goalscorer in a race for the golden boot is obsessed by goals, no shit. Why do people care? They appealed, if it's his goal he'll get the goal. If it isn't then he won't get it.

If this is pathetic then all great goalscorers are pathetic too.

Doesn't even make sense.

We will make fun of it because it's rather pathetic to be going out of your way to desperately claim that goal.

And it doesn't make every great goalscorer pathetic unless all of them have done something similar. Which they haven't. You're just reacting as if people are making fun of your precious.

 can we call this small time?

fecking hell, I remember when dubious goal panel awarded few goals as OG around 2010 season, one was from Carrick. Wish we also appealed every single goal to be awarded for our players.

Why is it pathetic? I'd be more worried if a striker on my team wasn't obsessed by goals, he felt that he touched the ball and he's on the race for being the top scorer in the league. What's the problem? Should he pretend he doesn't care?

Or because it's my opinion... good to see the obsession is still as high as ever though, very impressive. Most great goalscorers are obsessed about goals and would care about having one of their goals taken away if they felt they had scored it, only reason they haven't done the same is because they haven't been in the same position.

Goalscorers can be obsessed about scoring, enough to do stuff like take shots instead of passing the ball or taking penalties. But this is something else indeed

If Kane is claiming it so am I, I was the far end of the channel on the west coast of Ireland and not playing but I easily got as much on that ball as Harry, we should all make a claim.
 this did make me tickle.

“There are a lot of arguments going on around here,” Eriksen said afterwards.

“I think Harry, if he touched it, he touched it and it's his goal. How he celebrated, he had the feeling he touched the ball.”

Classy from Eriksen, not so classy from Kane. Should leave his daughter out of this.

Kane's got a real chip on his shoulder since the past 2 seasons when he started getting recognition. Seems to be obsessed way too much with individual stats. Understand that trophies are hard to come by at Spurs, but there is no need to be this desperate.

His tweets read like a 12 year old who's just been out playing street football with his mates and defiantly bragging about it - "See maa, it was me, I scored".

The way Kane carried out this appeal campaign is what made it pathetic. It's not about obsession or desire, but acting self entitled in public, contacted Lineker personally, throwing his daughter life, shunted Erikssen out of the way with his tweet. If the previous didn't happen, Tottenham to work thing out thing behind the closed door then appeal, it would have been a different scenario altogether.

After all this, imagine a scenario where Kane despite being given this goal would still lose out to Salah. That's pathetic by definition. Why not try to move on? I meant if Kane ends the season on level tally or a goal short, he can then revisit the case claiming the goal. While he might lose out the award, it leave him with a benefit of doubt in positive light, moral victor. Him being this desperate trying to take advantage of English golden boy status using the media to pressure for an appeal is like trying to bully a foreigner in Salah. If anything, even neutrals would turn against him now and support Salah to win. Even him to win it now, he already is a loser in some people's eyes.

There is more Ham one way to skin a cat. Why choose the most questionable way?

They won the match and the goal wasn't even an own goal, it was called for one of his teammates. Why do you run everywhere calling for a goal scored by a teammate to be yours, swearing on your daughter's life on it and ending up forcing the club to appeal such that the goal is called for you instead of your teammate ! It's absolutely pathetic. Respect your teammate at least ffs.

If it was an own goal I would have understood the reaction to some extent, but not this.

They should give it to Kane and then disallow it for handball as he claims that he guided it in with his shoulder

Or having whoever draw the line for VAR case against Mata to do the job. Kane was on the edge of offside trap to begin with.

Yeah if he accidentally touched that with his shoulder after missing the header, it's offside. What a prick. Asking two former England legends to come out and support him on TV is a dick move too. Really liked Kane until I read this.

I just got Kaned.

Come on, you know that’s bullshit. You’re just playing devil’s advocate.

It was a goal scored by his own teammate, it wasn’t an own goal or even an incorrectly ruled out goal or anything like that. You think it’s normal that a club appeals to the FA telling them “hey lads please take the goal away from my player and give it to this other player I have”? Do you think that’s in any way good for the dressing room?

This is completely pathetic because it’s so obvious that Kane has had a word with the higher-ups at Spurs telling them to do this for him or else... he’ll be sad. And they’re doing it because they’ll take every chance they can get to indulge him since they pay him pathetic wages as well.

Danny, want, want, want that goal!

Come on, now, Harold give Eric a turn

WANT, WANT, WANT!

Okay Harold, Danny will do what he can now go and play nice with Eric. And remember to SHARE

This is such a small-time mentality thing to do, instead of fighting for trophies they're fighting for a golden boot.

I dont see why hes making a big fuss, Spurs won, he should be 100% focused on the next game.

Maybe he gets some kind of bonus per goal or something? Trying to find some kind of logical reason why he wants the decision reversed, surely he cannot be that obsessed with scoring.

All the press it's getting is also masking actual decent discussion like how their wage bill is closer to Burnley than Arsenal. Which is 100% not sustainable, well if you want CL football and trophies.

What a joke they are. And Harry Kane is a selfish player as well. Does it matter who the goal is awarded to as long as its a goal? I hope Salah beats him to the golden boot because that's a pathetic appeal to make.
 So fecking true
I never had any opinion about Kane but this makes it easy to see him as another self centered prick. Swearing on your daughter's life for something so meaningless, wtf ?

Think it's cringe worthy.

The team is more important than the player. Does it really matter if Kane gets the goal or not. Salah will end up winning the golden boot anyway.

Isn’t it just odd though..? You only swear on your daughters life if you’re accused of murder or something pretty huge- not if you touched a cross from Erikson.
And then Spurs actually appealing..

On one hand it’s nothing and on another hand it’s just a really odd situation. Are Spurs this desperate to win something??

And this 100%. Football always should be a team sport and have these achievements as the pinnacle . I couldn’t care less about golden boot or balon Dor, I think way too much is made of individual awards.
