Six Nations

I agree about the co-commentator. This has been quite a scrappy, untidy game overall. Hello, Mrs Melinky.

I am not watching the game, but I just heard my dad bellow "HA Johnson, stay away from our presidents carpet!"

:lol::lol::lol:

Ah well England score a try but lose 14-13. As a England fan im glad for Ireland hope they win the Grand slam they deserve it. England need to sort out the fecking discipline over 100 penitles 10 yellow cards in 7 games its pathetic.

1 The score of 14-13 flatters England
2 O'Gara should have done better
3 Neither of the yellow cards was a bad decision. In fact Armitage took out O'Driscoll badly.

Its a pity the after match discussion will focus on the yellow cards. Martin Johnson and Steve WhateverHisNameIs (the England captain) both said it cost them the match. While the match might have been different, there is no substance in thinking England lost the match because of these decisions.

The tendency will now be to blame that guy Danny Kerr (#20).
A great shame that the England pysche inhibits people like Martin Johnson ( a boorish kinda thug anyway) from not simply extending a hand after a game and saying "well done".
Its the essence of sportsmanship that is missing from people like Johnson and must be a source of embarrassment to England Rugby fans brought up on the tradition of good sportsmanship for which their nation is envied around the world.

It sadly looks like George Bernard Shaw had a point when he said
"The English are never beaten fairly".

This characteristic displayed by Johnson (and the embarrassing Brian Moore co-commentating) is not attractive and is one of the reasons Wales, Scotland and Ireland get a bigger buzz out of beating England than each other.

o gara had a terrible game, scoreline should have been much wider but a win is a win i guess

o driscoll played on after a fair battering, what a player!!

I bet BOD is sore today. He took a hammering yesterday, good result, we should beat the scots, but I just have a feeling the welsh are going to do us in cardiff unfortunately.

All very true. Good post.

If we head to Cardiff unbeaten then we could lose that game (not that we want to of course) & still win the Championship, depending on the margin of loss. We're 2 pts ahead with 23 Pts Diff ahead, so its a good position to be in:

P W D L PD Pts
1 Ireland 3 3 0 0 39 6
2 Wales 3 2 0 1 16 4
3 France 3 2 0 1 5 4
4 England 3 1 0 2 16 2
5 Scotland 3 1 0 2 -2 2
6 Italy 3 0 0 3 -74 0

Upcoming Fixtures:

14 Mar 2009 Italy 15:00 Wales Stadio Flaminio

14 Mar 2009 Scotland 17:00 Ireland Murrayfield

15 Mar 2009 England 15:00 France Twickenham

21 Mar 2009 Italy 13:15 France Stadio Flaminio

21 Mar 2009 England 15:30 Scotland Twickenham

21 Mar 2009 Wales 17:30 Ireland Millennium Stadium

I was gonna highlight the important games out of those fixtures but there's just too many tbh.

It could come down to points difference between us & the Welsh/French. The Irish game with Scotland will be a toughie on the 14th & those feckers like to get one over us, especially Patterson - I'd say that cnut's in the Orange Order & hates Paddies

Wales at Italy will be a stroll in the park. They could quite possibly overtake us in terms of points difference, although they'd be behind in Total points coming into the last game at the Millenium, still though - it would an incentive for them to know all they have to do is to win without raking up the points!

The most important thing for Ireland now, is we need to beat Scotland with a good score & take it to the final game with a decent points difference still intact, otherwise Wales & France will have raked up some lovely scores against Italy & it could come down to simple but heartbreaking mathmatics in the end i.e. Points Difference :nervous:

With both France and Wales going to annihilate Italy, realistically we are going to either hammer Scotland (which will not happen and it will be close) or beat Wales also. The second option seems like the better chance for us. We have the quality to beat Scotland although we really struggled against them last year. It's 50/50 for the Wales match.

Good win for Ireland. I for one thought they would have lost today.

I think it's 50 50 next week against Wales.

fecking hell. Where did that England performance come out of?

Ireland should win the Six Nations anyway. The Grand Slam would be some achievement though. I think it'll be very tight.

Finally.. Ive said before that England have some very quick backs, if they get them into play then they will hurt you.

Big game tomorrow.

It's annoying that i actually have a night out planned in town regardless, and prices are gonna all be hiked up because of the game and stupidly long queues for the clubs.

On the other hand, if last years final game is anything to go by (which wasn't even at home if i remember rightly) then the atmosphere in town is gonna be simply mind blowing, as well there hopefully being fit Irish birds all over the place.

Would does get on my tits is that all the birds decide to wear rugby tops about 10 sizes too big for them, even the huge birds.

The atmosphere will be electric tomorrow and I think it'd be a great night out in Cardiff. The Irish will have the craic win lose or draw.

Good to see Bowe and OConnell having a dig at the RTE panel for saying Bowe hadnt the pace to play for Ireland

GRAND SLAM CHAMPS 2009!!!

time to go out get smashed and paint the fecking town green!
