Christ, I'm just sitting here lifeless at work. This is insane. 15 minutes ago I had no idea this rumour even existed.

I'm not entirely sure how I'm going to get any work done today.

In fact, I would say my boss would be inconsiderate to actually expect me to be productive...

This is very difficult for me to take, no matter how inevitable it was with him being 71. Goodbye SAF, it can't be put into words how much you did for this club..

The more I think about it the more insane it just feels. Shit I cant go to sleep tonight thats for sure.

FFS, in meetings all morning and then 10 messages on my phone. Cant believe it! This is shit news

feck:( He's literally all I'e ever known at United. Dont feel like doing anything today.

I have dreaded this day for so many years. Knew it had to come sooner or later, but still kind of ignored it, and living in a Fergie wonderland imagining he would manage United forever. To me, Sir Alex is Manchester United, Manchester United is Sir Alex Ferguson. He's been the manager for as long as I have lived, and a big part of what makes United so special is that, unlike every other club, we've had one manager for such a long time. This is truly heartbreaking. Thank you for everything, Sir Alex! A supporter couldn't ask for more.

Mind is blank now. Always thought he would just go on.

I'm not really sad. More priveledged to have witnessed so many great United moments whe he has been manager.

If I had not been at work I would be crying, I really would. I have followd United since 87, when I started playing football and I don't know anything else.

Had to happen one day but it's still a shame to see the greatest football manager any of us will ever see finally retire.

His successor must be filled with incredible excitement but also shitting himself.

Devastated. won't sink in fully for a long time. can't believe it. awful news.

Not shocked at all to be honest. Thought he's looked more fragile this past couple of seasons. And it had to come to an end. What a ride though. Can't thank the man enough. So new man, new ideas, new era. Very excited if I'm honest. Rivals will be celebratin cos they think this is the end for uniteds dominance. It so they havnt been paying attention to the work SAF has done at the club. We'll be at the top for a long time to come. And it's all thanks to Sir Alex Ferguson.

feck feck feck feck feck feck.

It had to happen one day, but still :(

feck me, shocking to hear this!!
Just a couple of days ago I was day dreaming at work thinking what would united do without SAF. Little did I know he would announce his retirement 2 days later.

This is horrible, but he earned the right to retire whenever he felt it was right. I just hope we can find a manager who can even be half as successful at this club
