Should we consider selling Pogba?

Mediocre? There's valid criticism and there's just plain nonsense.
He has world class abilities but his performances, bar that short period under Mourinho, are, I would dare to say below mediocre. He doesn't influence the game at all. Him playing or not makes no difference at all.

No one stumps up the cash for him that we want, i think the best outcome would be a swap from a team that can afford his wages and has a player we need that might be willing to leave.

Verratti is only one I can think of. Saul would be even more ideal but don't see Athletico wanting Pogba. PSG on the other hand would definitely take him and would be able to give him a pay rise.

Signing Pogba to a new contract will create a Sanchez 2.0 situation in 2 to 3 years time. He is not our best player or our best midfielder with both of those honours going to Bruno. Signing Von de Beek has created a scenario in which Pogba might be considered surplus to requirements. He’s lost all of his leverage against us and he knows this, which is why he and his agent have behaved the last year instead of raising a stink of wanting to find a “new challenge.”

When considering giving Pogba a new deal, we also have to think about some of the young players in the same position. If Garner shines and makes an impact on loan the next few years then he’s going to provide more competition and arguably fits a greater need. Then there’s Hannibal Mejbri who plays a game very similar to Pogba. There’s a lot of hype around Hannibal and there’s a good chance he joins the first team and competes for a place in the next 2 years also.

Personally I wouldn’t give Pogba a new deal, instead I’d activate the one year extension in January and look to sell him next summer. The fee will be minimal but thinking long term, we may save ourselves a major headache in the future.

Spot on. For the money we paid, the wages and the so called ability he does not apply it enough.

2 or 3 goods games followed by 5 or 6 ineffectual (goes missing). The other point regardless of good or bad mode is the constant getting caught in our own half because he thinks he is superman in close contact ball control. Fine if he is in around the opposition box. For crying out load, the manger & coaches should tell him to cut it out.

Then again its boys boys boys, cant drop our superstar bla bla

False.

That is such idiotic take, hope you stay clear of it mate.

According to the WHO, and to be be more exact:

"For COVID-19, data to date suggest that 80% of infections are mild or asymptomatic, 15% are severe infection, requiring oxygen and 5% are critical infections, requiring ventilation."

Yes. Despite his ability to do brilliant things a player who worked hard off the ball and came back to defend would actually add more to the team.

As daft as it sounds, I think the team is more solid with Fred playing his break it up defensive style of play and , pass it quickly forward to someone close. it doesn't look stylish but it is better for the team than an aimlessly wandering genius.

Nothing daft about that. It surprises me how people think we can be solid defensively with 5 attacking players on the pitch (Pogba is not a defensive player in case anybody is confused). We badly need Fred in there. In fact it really started to look as though it was beginning to click for us from when we signed Bruno until lockdown.

Bruno and Pogba together in midfield leave gaping holes that Matic just cant plug on his own.

Fred wouldnt have much of a youtube highlights reel hence why many here think he is not good enough but every team needs players with his workrate.

Selling Pogba is a no brainer for me especially with DVB in and hopefully Sancho who would more than off set his creativity.

Id be happy to see Pogba leave. He has no drive, he's very slow and lethargic and laboured. Always thought so. Need more dynamism in a Premier league midfield. I'm not a fan at all.

I think the relationship has run it's course. He isn't motivated being here, and I think we got the furthest we could with him.

Fred is the workhorse United need. Pogba however has moments of (infrequent) brilliance (a tease if you like) but his movement almost always highlights individual skill rather than broader team coordination.

If we get good money, and an adequate replacement, I'd say a big Yes. For all that we know he's capable of, Pogba just hasn't quite delivered for us. Sometimes things don't just work. You cut your losses and move on. Can't have our biggest player being a passenger in so many games. Hoping to see Fred alongside Matic against Spurs by the way...Pogba can come in off the bench if needed.

This is just temporary I think, this terrible performances.

But even at his best he is not a pass and move central midfielder. For all his athleticism he is actually relatively immobile whether in defending without the ball or moving when we have the ball.

He only started 13 league games last term. Prior to last season, our team has included inexperienced youngsters. Pereira, McTominay and Lingard.
Give him a chance to get fit and try to integrate with Greenwood and Bruno in the team.
If he still doesn't benefit the team, move him on.

He should have had much more assists at Man Utd in his first season. The number of chances missed by Zlatan and co was ridiculious.
He also hit the post/crossbar a weird number of times in his first season.

zlatans fault
crossbars fault
joses fault
Uniteds fault

cant possibly complete a 20 yard pass accurately if people aren’t converting chances, or people are calling him a virus or players around aren’t good enough

I've always liked Pogba and found him to be an absolute joy to watch when in full flow.

But I think we have a bit of potential problem on our hands with him. He's definitely someone with flaws in his game when it comes to off the ball quality and a drop in quality on it in games where there's time and space to maneuver. You can make up for those weaknesses and really make the most of his obvious gifts (vision, dribbling, creativity) if you have the right sort of team (and coach) around him.

But to be honest, I dont think we do, not like Juventus or France did and considering we are still on the path trying to become that side we want to be, it just feels like the wrong time for Pogba to be at this club. He has never been the engine and that's really what we need before we can truly make the most of players like Pogba who are tactically difficult to fit in. He's not really a CM and doesn't excel at the things you want from true midfielders - accurate passing under pressure, focus, energy, winning loose balls, playmaking. He's someone who can add flair and class to a midfield that already has most of the necessary ingredients. He also isn't a pure AM and he have someone more productive than him there in Bruno (although I wouldn't say better).

So that leaves us with an undeniably brilliant talent that is fanatastic when in full flow but with some definite weaknesses and one who is tactically difficult to fit in. Considering we are a young team building for the future and which needs to get at least the basics right - competing in midfield, controlling games, tactically on point etc I do think we should consider selling Pogba and am beginning to worry whether extending his contract could see our midfield continue to be imblanced for years to come.

It's not an easy one as if a top manager can make it work he'd really fly. But it just feels like he's not what we need now.

I think the issue here is that we are all set to tie him down to another mega contract. And it's hard to see anyone paying decent money for him once he hits 29/30 so if we are to get a good fee it'll probably have to happen soon

It's the truth though, of course it doesn't excuse all his bad performances during his spell here. The problem witj caftards like you, there is no middle ground when discussing, it's all-in.
Watch that clip of his first season with all his good passing creating big chances all missed.

Agreed he is a tactical nightmare because the flaws in his game will always destabilize the midfield and with a shaky defense behind them we are guaranteed to give away goals each game.

I think the solution is push him out wide to the right, assuming we arent signing Sancho and give the license to roam. In that way we get the best of his strengths - creativity, technical skill and vision - whilst not weakening the midfield to accommodate him. Fred does well in that role as a defensive 8.

The team`s balance would be best off if come next summer we sold him for a good fee and used it to get a top draw DM to play next to VBD and Bruno as the no10. If we get Sancho that offsets Pogba`s creativity whilst having VDB and a new DM gives us the solidity and discipline in the middle that will help us both in big games and low blocks. Honestly don`t see the benefit of keeping Pogba around anymore if Pirlo is still Juve manager next year I`m very sure he`ll want him back.

There's a reason he's still here despite obviously wanting to leave for at least 2 years. Teams have realised he's not the world class player he's branded as. He's just a decent player who has world class moments which are few and far between.

Wouldn't give him a new contract at the moment. He simply doesn't deserve it.

would have let him go along time ago, cant play in a 2, best position is the most attacking player in a 3 but we now have Bruno for that, would be looking around Europe to see what big clubs we could try do some sort of swap with.

If we could get a holding midfielder of the same quality then absolutely. I don't know if there is one of the right age currently.

If we could get anywhere near what we paid for him, I'd let him go tomorrow.

He's been dog shit for months, I really can't remember the last great performance from him (second half against City?)

I'm sick of watching him fail to pass the ball around opposition midfielders, watching him piss about on the ball and lose it.

I love Paul but if we get Sancho, unless we get a manager that plays 4-3-3 then we would be wasting his talent. I would sell him to 4-3-3Madrid

Wonder if Chelsea would consider a Kante/Pogba swap deal, Pogba would fit in well down the King's Road with his look at me with feck all to back it up!

Except for the World Cup-medal he’s got lying around somewhere... but you know, some daft poster on the internet told us otherwise. Kante is hardly in the form of his life to be brought into a discussion like this. I love Kante by the way, great player. Pogba too, just lacks motivation playing for a poor team/manager failing to match his ambitions... which is entirely something he needs to address himself if he wants to have fun at Old Trafford and make us better.
