Should Fred be offered a new contract?

The thing is, if he is to leave on a free in the summer we might have to cover some wages for the next year. I doubt his next contract offer will match what he's on at United.
 
It would make sense to cash in on Fred in the summer if we can and sign a new midfielder

Fred seems like the type who'll want to play every week. So if he's leaving I'm sure it'll be to play more elsewhere and he'll understand a drop in wages will be necessary to facilitate that.

Plus I doubt he's on a huge salary, relative to the rest of the squad anyway.
 
1 year option hoping to sell in the summer so we get a fee.

I want him sold as soon as the summer window opens.
 
Priority. Priority should be on #9, and deal with VDB. If he doesn't improve, to me highly unlikely, then he should be sold and bring in another MF. Assuming we can identify another quality MF, then Fred can be sold this summer as well, but not before VDB. So extension is a wise move.
 
we have a thin enough squad so contract extensions are the sensible move all round.
 
Should be sold. Is not of the required quality even as a rotation option. He doesn't suit ETHs system. In the games when he came on as a sub, he's put in sub par performances and loses possession too frequently for a midfielder.
 
No problem with taking up the option, but I don’t think Fred has a future long term.

He’s a player that at his best is absolutely good enough, but he seems to need regular football to be able to produce consistent performances. Which isn’t what you want from a rotation/squad player.
 
I’m quite comfortable with Fred as a squad man, although I’d want to see an assessment of the development of sone of younger midfielders first. At what wage agreement I have no idea, but if he’s holding out for 350k/week or thereabouts then he should be allowed to leave.
 
Get rid and bring back Hannibal next season to take his place.
 
Both him and McTominay need to be fecked off as soon as possible. Two of the worst midfielders in the league.

This discussion is boring, he has rubbish performances, one good game and every jizzes again. Truth is his been so inconsistent and will always be.
 
Seems like whenever he starts games he’s absolutely useless.. puts in the good 10 minute cameo every now and again. His passing is just nowhere near good enough.
