From flappy hands to a keeper who at least looks capable and assured with his fundamentals.

If we keep flip-flopping with our starting striker, why not give Bayindir a run of games as the starting keeper?
 
Long-term, definitely not. But for now, I think he's earned a run in the team.
 
He looked solid tonight. Kicking is still iffy - but frankly, its hardly any worse than Onana’s.

Bayinder deserves a run. We know there is no future with Onana, so lets see what this boy can do until end of the season.
 
He'll get Europa and Fa Cup games and Onana to keep starting in the league. But if Onana is to make a blunder in 1-2 more games in league, you'd think he could lose his place there as well. I'd perhaps start Bayindir as early as Fulham away but not sure it'll happen yet.
 
He made a couple of decent saves tonight & had little chance with Rangers goal. I’d keep playing him until he has a howler. Depends on how many games away that is whether Onana gets another chance.
If we had funds I’d recommend an upgrade on both.
 
His distribution tonight was better. Obviously needs to improve. I think it’s good for Onana to have him chomping at his heels. Onana just needs to tidy up and we have two half decent players

Onana did the same thing.

That shot tonight that was angling into the corner was as close to Onana’s bête noire as is possible and surely would have gone in. A low shot into the corner where the keeper has to adjust his feet is basically Onana’s kryptonite.
 
He deserves a run, hallmarks of Anders Lindegaard stepping in when De Gea had flappy hands moments early doors.
 
He is the better of the two on current form. SO - feck yes, until that changes

This is Lindegaard vs De Gea all over again.

The difference is neither is a young exciting keeper still getting used to the league. And I guess neither is an unspectacular yet relatively safe option you can rely on.

Hmm…I guess the situation is not that similar after all.
 
Absolutely. That one against Brighton was enough for me. Onana's had so many chances these last 2 years.

He actually saved one brilliantly from a corner today that was going in and was injured in the process.

We shouldn't really judge him on isolated incidents. I'm not sold on him fully by any means but he deserves a chance over Onana for the next couple at least.
 
Both are shit, so the shit you know (Onana) is better than the shit you do not know (Bayindir), let's keep it as it is, league games for the soft hands Onana and cup games for below average Bayindir

That did it for me too and I've generally liked him and defended. The second and third goals he was total crap for.

There has to be consequences for being shit at some point. Bayindir definitely isn't it, but I'd give him a few games even just to tell Onana he better sort his shit out.
 
His positioning at corners is really frustrating. He makes a jump towards the near post then puts himself on the back step. It's really bizarre He hasn't learned from the Olympico goal

How can you fixate on that one goal when Onana has made way more mistakes?
 
Personally I think Bayindir has earned a league start. But I fear if Onana is benched in the PL, his already shaky confidence will be shot to bits. So I'd still keep starting Onana in the PL, but if he has one more howler, he's benched.
 
Bayindir, Heaton, or a youth player in goal. We’ve seen enough of Onana.
 
I do not think Onana deserves another chance. End of last season man came out aggressive in his press conferences accepting his mistakes and vowing to improve them but nothing has changed. He simply cannot walk the talk. Bayindir deserves a consistent run to see what he is made up of. I think for this season at least, Bayindir should get a consistent run and we might just have someone good on our hands. Definitely better than Onana for sure.
 
Both are highly error prone keepers, both nowhere near good enough. We can start Bayindir for a few games but you just know he has a howler in him that brings us back to starting Onana.

That's pretty much it for me. If we swap them now, we don't really gain anything and dock the Onana's confidence for no real benefit
 
He should certainly be getting way more chances and the GK spot should be much more of a meritocracy than it has been. Onana is a average goalkeeper at best and does not warrant the tag of being undroppable.
 
Before his recent great performance he never looked convincing, but Onana is dreadful so might as well give him a try.

Though we need to sign a keeper sooner rather than later imo
 
Bayindir looked good and confident yesterday.

He definitely deserves a run of games now until he makes one or two howlers.

Whilst it was against rangers, i thought his ball playing was quite good too.

We should see how well he is able to support his defence and make the defenders stronger which is something onana seems to lack.

I loved some of Bayindirs over the goalpost and behind saves he made from corners yesterday.
