Can't Wayne get a break? He's our in form player but something keeps halting his momentum.

Shaktar's team looks pretty handy. We're gonna need our players to step it up tonight. We've got to be strong down the middle or they'll outrun us. Fellaini and Carrick can't afford to be too static out there. We're crying out for a bit of creativity in our play at the moment. Hope Valencia and Welbeck can give us some decent service.

It would be funny if Fellaini did actually play as a #10.

Nothing wrong with him playing as the most advanced in a midfield three, it's just when he's pushed up as a second striker while Rooney's back defending at left back that it becomes absurd.

Cleverley's the one that should be advanced though, surely? I've long doubted the ability of the lad on a creative level and this sort of formation is his chance to prove he can offer more offensively and isn't just a safe player.

He definitely said Rooney was likely to be on the bench but the injury ruled him out altogether. He said the reasons why in the interview.
Fair enough. Yeah, why bother even saying that. But I suppose it makes it seem like less of a blow to the rest of the team.

How much is Dwight Yorke getting paid for this? Any more than a fiver and he is mugging Sky

Happy with that line up. Great looking back four although I would have preferred Evans. With Rooney out I'm sure Moyes had to put in a Valencia over a Nani if you get my meaning.
Shouldn't it have been the exact opposite Irwin? With Rooney out play either Nani or Kagawa for their creativity? Just asking. Happy with the lineup though. Tough away UCL match.

Every time I see Fellaini walking out in our shirt a little bit of sick comes up... Most deflating signing ever.

He could have just said it privately to the them. I doubt the players are even aware of what he says in an interview 15 minutes before kick off. I can't think of a single possible reason why he bothered saying that.

Hmm, can we not have a "I wish Fellani went away" thread where certain posters can vent their spleen without endlessly posting this in the match threads?

Felliaini is a good finisher, so he can be effective breaking forward. Cleverley's job will be to assess the shape of the team and bring balance to the midfield.

I agree with you, but I'm trying to justify Moyes reasons for Valencia. Maybe he wanted the added workrate with Roo out.

Eurosport doesn't say why Rooney is not in the team, whats up with it?

It was Jones who injured Rooney....again
Official?

That is getting ridicilous if it is true. I don't think we would have lost to Liverpool if Rooney had been available.
