Serie A vs La Liga Head-to-Head Draft

And will there be another draw for drafting order within the leagues?
I guess so ..

Drafting sequence:
First the teams will be randomly drawn to determine which league they will represent (odd numbers will represent Serie A, even numbers will represent La Liga).

A second random draw will then be made to determine the order for each relevant snake (of 8 teams), down from 1st to 8th, then back up to the 1st and down again and so on.

It doesn't make much sense to make another draw to determine the order? I thought the point of letting the 8th placed team pick the 3 blocks is because they were unlucky in the draw? In theory now Pat could pick the 3 blocks and still be 1st in the order for Serie A ?

Yeah.. something's not right.

Yeah sorry that was a mistake on the rule. The order is as the first draw. Can start as soon as @Pat_Mustard has made his blocks

I've done the research and i can safely say Serie A will destroy La Liga. Good concept in theory but seriously flawed.

I said this in the convo regarding draft set up -

You would have to be pretty sure about each league having equal number of quality players otherwise it won't work.

Anyway, let's just have it.. worst case you will have quarters with 8 Serie A sides.

@Pat_Mustard
logical blocks.

If it were career peaks, then this is an amazing block. However, if it were league peaks...still very good, but I have this niggling feeling that we could have gone for someone better.
Makes sense to block him considering the other 2 blocks were defenders. Make that pool smaller. He's also German so goes against the number of nationalities available.

Didn't think Pat would block Matthaus and Maldini. In retrospect Maldini makes sense but I'd have blocked some others. 4 out of 6 block pick guesses isn't too bad I suppose.

The amount of personal honours Lothar won in his years in Inter are impossible to argue. His years in Germany while playing for Inter do count don't they?

At the same time without disagreeing with you I'd add that there is a lot of under-rated La Liga players from the 1990s and early 2000s.

Sure i have most of them written down. I have made a list of all picks we'd consider (plus a whole load of backups) and it's just so underwhelming. I think Serie A could put together 2-3 teams that would win against the best La Liga team. Have fun playing amongst yourselves.

Dont think it will be that easy with the 1960s rule.

Matthaus's highest peak was in Inter

So are we doing pick in parallel? Should be the best option IMO as will make it faster.

Really? His career peak was in my opinion clearly 88-92 at Inter. He was sensational in Inter's league win in 1989, the World Cup in 1990 and the UEFA Cup win in 1991. He was consistently great in the league throughout these years and won his individual awards in 1990 and 91. He would have been our first pick, if Pat didn't block him.
