Serie A 2024/25

They aren't going to do it again are they? How many times have Milan gone behind and rescued something recently?

Atalanta losing earlier means they're have far too much to do to win the league. Straight shootout between Inter and Napoli. Inter have the harder run in plus coppa Italia and UCL games

Milan's 11 is just a random group of players thrown together. Like Felix is not a better player than Laeo. Abraham is not good enough to start, they're so poor these days. Walker is finished too.

I saw it somewhere but someone said, if you look at any random player in history, most likely they've had a stint at Milan  that's what it feels like.

The side that won the league few years back had such a great mix of youth and experience. Looked like they were going to dominate again. Selling Tonali and not replacing the experienced guys like Girioud was a mistake. Tonali to Loftus Cheek is a downgrade and like you said Abraham to Giroud is another downgrade. Shows how quickly you can fall with a few bad transfer windows

Good game between Juventus and Roma with a great goal by Locatelli.

This happened earlier as Atalanta lost at home to Lazio:

Atalanta as expected ran out of gas and couldn't maintain the title charge. Gasperini is leaving in the summer I think

2 goals for McTominay tonight. Lukaku also scored.

Title race back to 3 points

Advantage Napoli in my opinion.

Between Bologna away, Roma and Lazio at home, and Torino away, I see Inter dropping 4pts. Napoli can win out with their schedule, even if not convincingly

Today was another example. Neres’ latest injury is a big blown to Napoli’s attacking options but Conte simply needs 5 wins. 1-0 will get the job done.

Inzaghi earns his keep over these next few weeks

Already dropped 3. I think they drop another 2 pts at home against Roma.

I think they’ll beat Lazio convincingly.

Oh that's big..

Napoli are playing shite football though. Hoping they can do it.

Inter has the goal advantage. If it ends in a tie there will be a Final at San Siro.

Inter have a more difficult set of matches remaining with Roma and Lazio out of the five remaining games. All of Napoli’s remaining games are bottom half teams. Inter also have Coppa Italia and Champions League.

If they finish on equal points then there will be a playoff final to determine the winner.

Aiming for the champion+relegation playoff double whammy

Milan won yet another derby, this time 3-0

Into the cup final

Inter continues to not look good against decent sides

Inter treble dream has gone. PSG and Barcelona the only two teams remained that still can do it.

It's very hard to be competitive over three competitions with a budget like Inter's. Their B-team is just too weak and their best players clearly cannot play every 3 days for 10 months (Nerazzurri will have to play AT LEAST 61 games this season)..

Winning a treble is just very hard, they deserved much more yesterday and were really unlucky in the first half especially. But that's football.

Not just Inter, I think its very hard for anyone to manage fatigue and tiredness that comes with a Treble charge. PSG are fresh because they've walked their League but Barca are also currently struggling to manage their schedule because they're deep in three tournaments. The fatigue is apparent. I know the Treble seems like a Holy Grail of football but I think, unless they have absolutely monstrous squads, would be better off sacrificing the domestic cups if they do have aspirations to win the league and CL.

Inter just don't have a particularly good team. Darmian, Mkhitaryan and Taremi started for them the other night.....

Mkhitarian has been mostly reliable for Inter over the years and by now he is complementing Calhanoglu and Barella very well making it harder for either Frattesi or Zielinski to take his spot. The other 2 are supposedly decent bench options. Taremi has been very disappointing though.

Two of those started when they nearly won the CL as well though

They have a good team, probably (still) the best in Italy. But there are different kinds of "good". Inter are an experienced side, playing a settled system and coached by a manager who has found the right balance between pragmatism and idealism. They have been the standard-setters in Serie A for quite a while. But they are also an aged team that simply doesn't have the legs to compete on all fronts. They look knackered after the 60th minute of their games. It certainly doesn't help that their main rivals for the title have been playing once a week throughout the season and are managed by someone who knows how to get wins in that league better than anyone else. If they win the title, it will just move the discussion about the needed overhaul a year down the line. Whether they can afford it or it's this team's final hooray, should they win it, it remains to be seen.

Darmian was used as a third CB in that squad (when they chose to sideline Skriniar). Mikhi was on the bench (behind Brozovic in the pecking order) back then.

Now Mikhi is a starter. And Darmian replaces Dumfries on the right.

They're obviously fine for Inter. But, the fact that those 3 probably wouldn't start for mid-table PL teams, shows that their squad really isn't all too great. Inzagi has done a cracking job, but Italian teams just can't attract/afford the best players anymore.
